Iman In Zac Posen – 2011 Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s Opening Night Gala Performance

Iman on the red carpet is always a special moment, but it was made that much more special at the 2011 Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s Opening Night Gala performance in New York City last night.

That’s because the uber model was wearing the first look from the Zac Posen Spring 2012 collection.

As you know, this was my favourite Spring 2012 show, so to see a glamazon like Iman don the first look is truly a ‘we are not worthy’ moment for me.

I was patiently waiting for award season, so it feels like Christmas has come early.

With her hair swept up in retro marcel waves, Iman looked sensational wearing a burgundy silk-faille pleated gown which is doing so many amazingly great things to her impossibly spectacular body.

I could’ve lived without the necklace, but I do love her matchy clutch.

Iman continues to outdo herself and defy her years. I will always be in total awe of this woman.

BDOTY for me as well! WOW! I am blown away by her beauty. Honestly, as long as she is put together, she can wear anything and look fantastic!

IMAN is always flawless, and the necklace doesn’t botter me because it goes well with everything and suits that vintage vibe. And, as someone else said, it is a delicate necklace, not bling!on!Your!Face.

Love this, one of the Best Dressed of The Year, easy.

OMG,love Iman and this colour on her!!

I actually quite like the necklace. It works with everything quite well and isn’t a huge bling-ey thing that some would’ve added.
One of the BDOTY for me.

She looks amazing & is working the hell out of that gown…BDOTW without a doubt! She looks magnificent – such a stunner! And I agree with Jones19 that she must be an alien to look this good! 🙂

nothing really works for me, i don’t like the dress, the hairdo ages her and the make up is to heavy. she looks kinda frosted, her skin is soo tight, looks not natural at all..

      You’re kidding, right?

I love this blog I read it everyday. That said, as a jewelry designer, I love the necklace, I want to put jewelry on everyone. While you prefer the les is more, I prefer more is better, but that is just me.

      Thank you.

I can imagine dressing people in your jewels would be a lot of fun x

Stunning. Her and Dita Von Teese have given me quite a bit to think about for this week’s BDOTW poll.

No need for a necklace, agree, but man, oh man, she looks SPECTACULAR!!! Her posture/poise are incredible, that`s the way to wear a gown!

    • maria December 1, 2011 at 22:10 #

      i totally agree.

    • gurlygurl December 1, 2011 at 23:16 #

      Spectacular isn’t a word I throw around 🙂

      • gurlygurl December 1, 2011 at 23:17 #

I meant to say … but I agree totally she is spectacular… gurly needs a coffee!

+1 FC. She is a Goddess. I too would have been happier without the necklace though.

    • Hannah December 1, 2011 at 18:20 #

She looks divine, but I agree, th encklace detract from the look. When you havea gown liek this (and are Iman), the simpler, more delicate the jewels and accessories, the better.

    • Jones19 December 1, 2011 at 19:08 #

She’s gotta be an alien, nobody is this perfect…sigh. I too would have skipped the necklace and the bangles as well. This spectacular gown doesn’t need any bling.

    • Jess2 December 2, 2011 at 06:24 #

Goddess is the perfect word!! I also agree about the necklace and this look would have been just as phenomenal without any jewels at all as Jones19 said. This women is just out of this world!
