Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: November 2011

Shailene Woodley was the latest celeb to take on the masculine trend on the red carpet at the 21st Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards in New York City last night.

The young actress donned a suit by Dolce & Gabbana, who also recently outfitted Penelope Cruz in a similar black suit.

I really like this look on Shailene, but something is missing.

A black ribbon bow tie à la Diane Kruger or maybe a white dress shirt with black buttons would’ve worked.

Either way this look is lacking something.

Grey pointy pumps and a side swept fishtail plait completed her look.

Chloe Moretz attended the Royal Film Performance of ‘Hugo’ 3D at the Odeon Leicester Square in London last night.

The teen actress wore an Emilio Pucci Fall 2011 dress.

Her styling continues to baffle me as it goes from the inappropriate, to age appropriate to aging in such a short space in time.

Whilst she covered up for the cold weather, I don’t find anything exciting about this look other than the sequin collar.

A side bun and black patent sandals completed her look.

Her co-star, Asa Butterfield, looks very dapper in Dolce & Gabbana.

Marni for H&M

You may still on a high from grabbing that must have item from the Versace for H&M collection, but H&M already working on the next project.

This morning they announced that the next collaborating will be with Italian fashion house Marni.

The Spring collection for both men and women designed by Marni founder and creative director Consuelo Castiglioni, will feature clothing and accessories.

“I wanted to create a true Marni wardrobe by revisiting all our favorite pieces in signature fabrics and prints,” says Castiglioni.

For women, the colours are vivid and the prints are bold, be they African inspired or simpler colour blocks. The silhouettes are all Marni staples, with full pleated skirts, dresses, cropped trousers and jacquard knit, and fabrics range from silk to crisp cotton poplin. To finish the complete look the collection also includes jewellery, shoes, bags and scarves.

For men, the colours and fabrics are softened for a relaxed take on menswear staples that is truly Marni. The use of print is subtle, often as a lining or as a contrast detail for shirts, the silhouette a modern and relaxed take on masculine classics.

The Marni for H&M collection will be available on March 8, 2012 in select H&M stores and online.

As a lover of African inspired prints I couldn’t be more excited about this collaboration.

Here are the rest of the stars who attended the 2011 British Fashion Awards.

Kristen McMenamy: The American model wore an ice-white Alexander McQueen Fall 2011 organza pearl embroidered dress to go with her ice-white hair.  Her matching McQueen accessories included a filigree skull clutch, python boots and fur scarf.

Stella McCartney: The designer was, of course, in a look from her recent Spring 2012 collection. Her printed jumpsuit epitomizes her chic, laidback style of dressing. Iron-straight hair and black sandals provided the finishing touches.

Caroline Sieber: Like Alexa Chung, the stylist also wore a look from the Christopher Kane Spring 2012 collection. Her iridescent plunging floral-print mini dress was unimaginatively paired with black pumps.

Felicity Jones continues to be one to watch on the red carpet and that was most definitely proven on the red carpet at the 21st Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards in New York City last night.

The British actress wears her second look from the Proenza Schouler Spring 2012 collection when more established stars would be lucky to wear one.

The new face of Dolce & Gabbana makeup wore a mint-green sleeveless belted dress with a zebra-print lining.

Cream Calvin Klein Spring 2012 platform ankle pumps wouldn’t have been my first choice, but they work for this look.

Her brunette locks were kept sleek and straight, and she completed her look with nude lip shade.

Alexa Chung won the British Style Award at the 2011 British Fashion Awards which were held at the Savoy Hotel in London last night.

I think the person sitting next to me summed up a few people’s feelings when he said, “Again? Is there no one else they can pick?”

The TV personality accepted her award wearing a Christopher Kane Spring 2012 dress – our first look at this collection on the red carpet.

The ivory silk satin dress with an embellished overlay was teamed with a bejewelled Christopher Kane clutch.

Keeping to her signature laidback style, she added Charlotte Olympia ‘Kitty’ embroidered velvet pumps. We’ve seen her wear the velvet flats several times before.

She debuted longer bangs which were too long in my opinion.

Minimal (if any) makeup completed her look.
