A tearful Victoria Beckham collected her award for Designer Brand of the Year at the 2011 British Fashion Awards from designer BFF Marc Jacobs last night.
With her parents in the audience you can see it meant a lot to her. I found myself welling up too hearing her acceptance speech in which she thanked David for giving her the courage to become a designer.
Between sobs she apologized for ‘being rubbish’ as she struggled to hold back the tears.
The designer opted to wear a black halter backless dress with a pleated skirt from her Fall 2011 collection.
The pictures aren’t doing her much justice because she looked sensational in real life.
She opted for a pop of colour via her burgundy nail colour, black Christian Louboutin ‘Daffodil’ pumps and a bouffant with a low bun.
You’ll be surprised to learn that she’s very animated and not as stiff and cold as the press love to make her out to be.
She spent a lot of time with her team who she thanked in her acceptance speech saying, “I couldn’t do it without you”.

I really admire Victoria Beckham. I think she is a strong role model for young women today. She holds her position in the spotlight with grace and dignity. I think she proves herself again and again at being an impeccable mother, wife and designer and i’m delighted fashion world is acknowledging that!

The yellow dress is divine! I wish VB wore that instead, or a brighter color. The black works well for her but it’s a littl bland.

i love her dress and updo. Find the makeup around the eyes a bit too strong. Otherwise a stunning look.

For some reason she reminds me so much of Daphne guines sin the top photo, probably the hair and the pose.
She seems like a very sweet person and I have never agreed with the press’s despiction of her.
FC I have a question. For the 2011 designer awards, are the designers nominated for their spring 2011 and fall 2011 collections this year? Or what they showed at their runway shows which is a season ahead.

Vicky B is my all time fav fashionista so I’m just sooo happy for her. I truly believe this is what she has wanted to do all along. Everything else was just a stepping stone to lead to her dream of being a “real” designer. Then to get reputable praise is just wonderful. Oh, and don’t believe for a second she is cold. I think she is just guarded and driven. Do we remember the way the popzs and fans have treated her? You go girl!!!!
I want to love this look but I can’t get passed how extremely thin she looks. I know she’s petite and has been very thin for some time but I’ve loved her looks since the birth of baby as she’s looked the healthiest she has in a while. This unnerves me somewhat. I think the dress is nice and her hair and make up look lovely but it doesn’t feel quite right. I’ve seen her in interviews before and was aware there was more to her than her red carpet persona and i think she’s a wonderful designer.
FC did you ask her about her top? Remember you said you would find out somehow

Great look but I don’t get all these “she’s a great role model! She’s my idol” comments. She’s another celebrity these days more famous for being famous than for having talent.
I’m glad she won, well deserved and she looked amazing! as much as the saffron colour would have been a delight, it would have been too much for the event, so i love this!
