Charlize Theron blew me away on the red carpet at the 21st Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards, which were held at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City last night.
The actress looked outstanding wearing a Gucci Spring 2012 dress.
We’ve seen a lot of this collection on the red carpet, most recently on Salma Hayek, but this effortless take on the 20s-inspired art deco collection is my favourite to hit the red carpet so far.
Her black and white light georgette sleeveless multi-pleated dress, with a deep v-neck line and a gold band around the waist, was teamed with gold accessories.
A gold necklace, gold sandals and a black and gold clasp Alexander McQueen clutch complemented her dress.
The look was completed with a black hair band and a fuchsia lip shade.

Not quite sure about this one. The necklace, the hanging straps, the gold waist band, the different layers of pleating in the skirt – each of these elements seem to be competing rather than complementing. Fussy.

Very refreshing. Usually Charlize appears to be a Dior lady, this is something changing a lot yet she still carries it surprisingly fine. BTOTW worthy to me.

Something is off for me. I don’t like the gold chains and the hair band, it takes the look from effortless to trying a tad too hard.

Love this on her. Charlize is gorgeous, but I usually think that she is quite a boring dresser. I think that she should take more chances like this because she can totally pull it off.
There is something that appears a bit off to me, I think it is the hanging strips, I much prefer the runway look where they aren’t hanging down. Other than that I think she looks awesome! particularly love her hair, makeup and shoes!!
actually if you look closely the strips are hanging down on the runway, they are just pushed more to the side.
I never pictured this dress on Charlize, let alone the red carpet, but it works so beautifulyl well.

She’s amazing. Only she could pull off the plunging and still ooze class. Only she could pull off a flapper look and headband without looking too costumy. She always looks so effortlessly elegant and beautiful no matter what she wears. This is just the beginning. With Young Adult getting raves, expect to see more Charlize on the red carpet.
