Leighton Meester joined her co-stars at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City last night to help celebrate ‘Gossip Girl’s’ 100th episode.
The actress wore a Balmain ecru strapless mini dress.
Usually I’m a huge fan of Leighton’s style, but on this occasion I’m failing raise a smile for this look.
The dress is sitting a little too low plus it looks too tight on the bust.
I wish this dress had been a straight-forward babydoll dress with the removal of that middle panel and clasp.
The Jimmy Choo ‘Lauren’ sandals thankfully solidify her status as having one of the best shoes collections of any celebrity to hit the red carpet.

I am confused by this. I have never particularly liked Balmain but I thought Oliver Rousteing was apparently going to up the luxe factor when he took over the creative director role at the label. This dress suggests otherwise. It looks flat-out cheap, there is no other way to say it. Like something disposable that she would pick up on the high street to wear out on a Saturday night. Beyond underwhelming.
That’s the feeling I got, but you fleshed it out a lot more. You’re right, though, it looks like something you’d see a girl wearing at a club. Beyond underwhelming is right, especially considering how Leighton has had some really fashion forward looks.
I agree, cheap is exactly what I was thinking about this dress.

I honestly never expect much from Leighton, for someone who plays a bad girl on screen (she’s still bad right cause I gave up on this show long ago) She sure dulls up the prettiest of dresses. She’s a walking hanger on the red carpet. The dress is noting special, she almost blends in the background.

I don’t particularly like this but in comparison to B. Lively she looks great. I would say it’s not one of her best red carpet’s look but it’s good anyway. I love her hair, the make up is a bit too shiny.

she looks kinda tacky in this one… the hair and the dress does her injustice…
It might be becasue I adore her but I do not hate this look! I think it is because she is doing sexy for once, or because, despite the fit, the whole look comes together well. That being said the dress looks cheap but the hair, makeup and, of course, the shoes are perfect.
I liked everything, obviously it’s not the best thing she dressed this year, but she looks beautiful, sexy and young, so I can’t dislike it when it’s working. Maybe she should have worn some jewelry.
Maybe you were all expecting some less basic than this, since we’re talking about Leighton Meester, but there’s nothing wrong with going basic once for a change. Principally when she was clear about not wanting to have a single style.
Also, FC, why you didn’t say a thing about Blair Waldorf wedding dress? I was expecting it.

I actually like this look. I think the dress is cute (or maybe it’s just that I’m used to Balmain clothes being tough rock chic, so this is a welcome change) and I love her shoes! Sure, I don’t like that the dress is so tight and I’m not a fan of her hair, here, but the outfit itself is really nice.

Im not so sure about the dress. I think its nice, but its so basic that it fails to get any sort of reaction out of me. On the bright side, her hair looks great. Im glad that she finally got her usually awful bangs under control.

Leighton and Blake take my breath away on Gossip girl yet as themselves they really struggle. This dress is all kinds of wrong. It makes her beautiful, healthy body look wide and short in all the wrong places. Her shoes make her feet look like little hams… This ensemble is a mistake
i like the dress, i find that the detail on the bust is very eyecatching, but the fit is off. It has to be pulled up and looks too tight.
But the shoes are amazing.

I don’t think the dress is bad. Somehow it isn’t quite working on Leighton. The sandals are gorgeous.

i bet her stylist did not see this hot mess. it is messy and all over the place. could have been exciting and fun but the poor fitting ruins it for me. however leighton is such an adorable person that i cannot make bad remarks about her, even when she dresses so basic and …oh well… i’ll say it…cheap! i hope she recovers quickly because this is not looking too good!
