Dita von Teese attended the 2011 MOCA Gala in LA on Saturday night.
She stunned wearing a Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2002 Couture gown.
This is a true ‘we are not worthy’ moment.
No one can do gothic couture like Dita.
Her black velvet corseted gown with a cape draping over one shoulder was teamed with all of Dita’s trademark accessories, retro waves and red lippie.
Bvlgari jewels completed her look.
This is my second BDOTW contender.

This is Dita in her full power. I’m out of words!
I’m so glad that Dita wore this gown, because she’s worn it again in the past and she looked absolutely gorgeous in it, just like here!
I’m glad someone else saw that because I was thinking I’m crazy!
“This is a true ‘we are not worthy’ moment.”
Aptly put FC! She looks amazing! And she smolders to perfection!
loooooooove it! I remember her wearing this dress in an editorial years ago….oh, owning this dress would complete me.
I remember that editorial photo, but she also wore it at a public event, too! To be honest, I preferred the way she wore it back then, mostly because of her hairstyle!
Ahh yes I remember that too. Looking back at the 2004 photos from that event, her hair is lovely but she didn’t have the cape on, she just carried it. I think had she worn her hair down again, it would have looked messy with the cape too, so I’m glad she wore it up. Plus, that Manson idiot isn’t spoiling the pictures this time!
I guess you’re right about the hair… with cape on, an updo was better. However, I won’t agree with the last sentence of your comment – I’m a Marilyn Manson fan!
oops sorry Parvati, no offence intended
Haha, it’s ok!
IT is undeniable that this gown needs height to pull it off, but what Dita lacks in height she makes up for in presence. Few people would have done this gown nearly half as much justice (Cate Blanchett, Diane Kruger, Zoe Saldana and possibly Emma Ston are the only ones who could ahve had such personalit yin a dress, but ultiamtely this dress was made for Dita. However, I cannto help but wonder what would happen if Taylor uber dull Swift were to choose a dress like this.
If Taylor Swift wore this my head would explode.
I think Taylor Swift would never consider the idea of wearing a dress like this (hopefully).
What a special treat indeed!
+1
I think this proves that it’s not matter of height, it’s matter of proportions, gait and grace. This dress seems made for her.
+1. Well said.
Although I was generally in the minority last week when I said that I believed Dita looked great in her floral Lanvin dress last week, I must admit that when she is wearing couture this woman truly shines. Whether it be Christian Dior of Christian Lacroix or Alexis Mabille or Jean Paul Gaultier she understands the craft of couture and is able to convey the drama and grandeur of the gown so beautifully and without fail.
For me, this incredible creation is no exception. She OWNS this dress. There is a lot going on here but I do not get the sense that the gown is wearing her at all, such is her presence and poise. This is pretty much perfect for me. Definitely BDOTW-worthy. This one will be tough to beat.
Yes, this woman and couture are a perfect match, because you often need personality to pull off such amazing gowns.
DIVINE! morticia addams would be after this dress it is so gothic and gorgeous.
A taste of heaven first thing in the morning – this will probably be my bdotw!
Perfection.
Amazing! Dita wears Gaultier like no other.
Agreed. She understands his aesthetic – classy and kinky at the same time.
I agree, too. She just can’t look bad in Gaultier.
Wow !
She’s rocking this dress better than 5 years ago O_O
LOVE!!!!! She looks incredible.
Best dressed of the Year!!!!
It’s great that she goes all out on an outfit and commands ones attention.
Am I the only one who just doesn’t get DVT. I find her pale and short and lacking any ooze or warmth. This falls flat for me.
I agree completely about not getting her. Most of the time she looks classy and put together but nothing special to me. This is no exception
AMAZING! I agree that can be on the BDOTY list
Dita is almost always BDOTW for me, and this is no exception. She sure knows how to wear this dress.
She’s the only one who has the license to wear this on the red carpet and still look flawless.
She makes a striking matador!
Words escape me right now. this is completely flawless I’m just….wow
O M G! BDOTY & BDOTW!
I can’t find any word to express how perfect she looks. Wow.
BEST DRESSED OF THE YEAR
I love and appreciate your coverage of Dita. I couldn’t stomach a fashion blog if it was all mainstream and you really do just cover style, not pop. Thank you!
You are welcome x
