The Rome Film Festival came alive again last night as Zhang Ziyi graced the red carpet for the ‘Love for Life’ premiere.
I have goosebumps as I’m writing this; Zhang is beyond breathtaking in her Christian Dior Resort 2011 gown.
Her baby-blue strapless embroidered gown with a matching ribbon tied to the waist will no doubt make many BDOTY lists.
Zhang kinda fell off the radar for a while, but this is a surefire way to signal to everyone that she’s back.
A darker-blue embellished Swarovski clutch was teamed with ivory Swarovski drop earrings and a Swarovski diamond-encrusted bracelet.
I think the bracelet was one accessory too many for this look, but I’m just thankful that she didn’t add a necklace.
A simple bun and a dewy glow completed her look.

Earlier in the day Zhang wore a Christian Dior Resort 2012 brown spotted dress for the photocall.
I’m just going to pretend this never happened. It must have been a prerequisite in order to get the pretty Dior gown.

Stunning. BDOTY for me so far without a doubt. Love the sassy blue nails. LOVE the clutch. The dress is jaw-dropping. Everything is perfect. *Swoon*
She’s perfection.
Wow
Speechless
WINNING
p.s. lol @ “I’m just going to pretend this never happened. It must have been a prerequisite in order to get the pretty Dior gown.” Only just saw that then. My thoughts exactly!
that dior gown is an absolute knock out. cant find a fault with that look at all.
the other dior look isnt that bad, if it didnt have the sleeves and she ditched the necklace it would have been lovely.
i totally agree.
the blue one is perfection. Like a princess.
the brown one is not that bad, not sure though what she did with the arms, looks better on the model and yes, the necklace has to go.
I like though that it’s a different vibe. The blue dress is sooooo pretty and sweet that it was a needed contrast in colour and cut.
In the words of Charlize Theron “J’Adore Dior” and what a Dior gown we have in front of us. The baby blue color against her skin, and her accessories/makeup/hair look stunning. She will definitely be in the running for BDOTW and BDOTY
Wow, beautiful dress. I don’t like the blue nails though.
me neither, but that is my only probleme here
I don’t like the nails either but she looks lovely otherwise.
Perfection.
Yes! Yes! Yes! She shut in down! *flips over coffee table and fist pumps the air*
Haha
Stunning! Gorgeous! Absolutely wonderful. I love this even more because she accessorised with it and proved you can wear jewellery with a big gown as long as you show some restraint. She looks sooooo amazing. Definitely up for BDOTY imo. That gown is so breathtaking, wow, I want to get married and die in that gown omg I am SWOONING!
the premiere gown is just dreeeeeeaaaammmmmyyyy!
Oh my, she is so stunningly beautiful! BDotW without second thought! <3
Sensational! I love that she always wear opulent gowns! I hate seeing the dresses just on the runway!
The gown is too princessy for my personal taste, but she does look great in it.
My point exactly! It’s gorgeous, but I think it’s too cindirellish…
When Dior was Dior…
When Galliano was still around, everything was pure perfection…I miss him so much
Zhang Ziyi is perfect here, and I’m glad she’s back on the run
TOTALLY agree. Now all they have is the archive, and given the propensity for actresses to only want to wear the latest and most current season’s collections, I fear we will see less and less of Galliano’s Dior magic on the red carpet. Such a shame, this is perfection.
This is so amazing.. I’m speachless
+1
I actually like the second dress, just not on her. Someone with a more Boho Chic style could have pulled this look off, like Rachel Zoe or Drew Barrymore.
+1
It doesn’t get any better than this. Pure beauty. LOVE everything about it. Swooning over the clutch. Without a doubt BDOTY contender for sure. I’ve never thought that about a look until today. As Rachel Zoe would say “I die”
It’s the real life version of Cinderella! And it works!
I agree. Maybe it’s a bit too much for Rome, but the gown is a dream.
Soooooo pretty! Looks like a modern Cinderella. Just gorgeous!
yayyyyyyyyyy…. im so happpppy this gown made it to the red carpet.. i absolutely love it.. and ROFLMAO for the prerequisite comment
I had to come back for a second look. Why do I have ‘At Last’ by Etta James playing in my head? haha
She looks beyond gorgeous in the 1st dress. Small details like the blue nail polish prevent the look from being too sugary imo. I definitely love it.
I actually think the brown dress is beautiful. It just doesn’t suit Zhang Ziyi’s style at all. From the pose to the hair to the styling, she got hobo chich all wrong.
And ladies, say no to anything butterfly, you are not Mariah Carey.
OMG.
its a really sweet dress, and i would have styled it with waves but that will prolly be too girly.
im impressed that she can turn such a demure and sweet look into smth so elegant.
<3
too princessy for me
juste one thing: WOUHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
It’s obscenely pretty, but it completely fails to excite me.
Ping…I m trying to recollect my jaw !
I don’t know who this woman is, but she looks amazing.
I’m a sucker for Disney princess gowns so I LOVE THIS: LOVE LOVE LOVE.
Me too!
Completely agree. Let’s pretend the second look never happened. Because the first is so perfect_ Just like a fairytale
My mouth is watering this is sooooo utterly divine. I am really, realyl glad to see Zhang back on the red carpet, because bar a few instances, she really hasn’t bee on the red carpet much over the last few years, and when she has it hasn’t been as amazing as what it was before. Interestingly I was literally looking at this dress while going throught he recent dior shows on style.com, and this is one that really caught my eye. it is so utterly cinderella that I really wasn’t sure if I ever wanted to see it on the red carpet in fear of it not working, but that is not he case here. This is a gorgeous, gorgeous look. I only woudl have shrotened the hem so it wasn’t draggin on the floor and not had the blue nails, which are too casual for me, especially since I really don’t liek the colour, it is too almost hospitalish for me.
I am goign to igore the second look, she would have looked better in a burlap sack.
Should totally be in the top 5 of the BDOTY
I actually gasped a little when I saw this…love it when that happens
Looooooove it !
Cannot add to anything that’s already been said here. PERFECTION. She’s always been my fav alongside Gong Li.
I liked the photocall look, too. Thought the bracelet was a nice touch primarily because it wasn’t large enough or opulent enough to draw its own attention.
She’s already my BDOTW. I’d be shocked to see something better.
Gorgeous! She looks like a princess in this gown. The makeup is just so perfect and that clutch is perfect too.
Perfection…!!!!
BDOTW!
That blue dress is so dreamy!! Even better on Zhang than on the catwalk… just heavenly
FC where would a mere mortal such as myself find an adorable sparkly clutch such as this one?
I’ll try to find one and let you know x
Ooh thanks!
*starts saving pennies*
This is definitely one of my BDOTY and absolutely the best look from the Rome Film Festival. I just have no words for this it is perfection and mind-blowing but I too am ignoring the second dress.
I must be the only one in this planet who doesn’t like this dress
I think it’s way toooooo pricessey. But I normally hate this kind of dress, so well…..
She looks very beautiful tho
I gasped when I saw her pics at a different site. I think this is the BEST she’s ever looked – she looks like a princess!
the best dressed of the week, no doubt!
I honestly didn’t think she could carry off a big princessy dress like this. Her accessorizing is faultless, imo. Smoothly chic hair, discreetly flattering makeup and her evident confidence keeps this look from being too sugary sweet. BDOTY-worthy.
WOW.
