Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: October 2011

Between the messy side braid, the disheveled top knot, and tousled bedhead tresses, it’s truly hard to fathom why women still have bad hair days, and have yet to master the done-undone look.

Another chic and easy hairstyle to fallback on? The shiny slick back.

Seen all over the Fall 2011 runways (Ralph Lauren, Giambattista Valli, Mary Katrantzou, Salvatore Ferragamo, The Row), stars like Camilla Belle and Keira Knightley are starting to shellac their strands to their scalps as well. Such a laissez-faire, yet entirely appropriate red carpet look.

Get The Look in Three Swift Steps:
-Starting with damp hair, insert a deep side part and brush hair back into a low position.
-Maintain your wet look for the entire day by liberally coating strands with Redken Hardwear 16 Super Strong Sculpting Gel (available at Redken salons for $13).
-Tautly secure at the nape of your neck.

Finish your pared-down but perfect look with bold earrings, a bit of lipstick and blush, topped off with a few coats of mascara.

Milla Jovovich attended both the press conference and the party for the launch for the 2012 Campari Calendar unveiling in Milan, Italy yesterday.

The actress wore two Prada looks.

For the press conference she wore a flirty red chiffon printed blouse and a blue dotted skirt.

She accessorized with fine jewelry, black satin Prada peep-toes and a Prada ‘Visone’ crocodile bag.

Milla sported sleek locks on this occasion, and that rouge lip colour which matches her shirt is to die for.

I just love her attitude. She’s oozing confidence from her every pore.

For the party, Milla changed into a Prada red chiffon dress which was designed especially for the occasion.

I’m not sure I like the lace embroidered red roses on the bodice which are embellished with ruby cabochons.

Nor do I like the pale pink satin Prada shoes with this gown.

A black crystal embellished Prada clutch, oversized earrings and a chic updo completed her look.

I much prefer the photocall look.

Which do you prefer?

Maggie Gyllenhaal attended the ‘Hysteria’ Rome Film Festival photocall this afternoon.

The actress gives us our first red carpet look at the Dries van Noten Spring 2012 collection.

This isn’t a surprise as the actress is a huge fan of the brand and is often the one to snag the first look.

Her loose-fitted waterprint dress with one draped sleeve excited me more on the model as I prefer the strappy sandals, but this is a perfect laidback look for a photocall.

Brown wooden wedges, a simple bun, rosy cheeks and red lips completed her look.

I’m very excited to see what Maggie wears to the premiere later this evening.

I adore Rupert Everett’s Moncler reindeer cardigan, as it would make the perfect Christmas gift for my younger brother.

His cardigan is available from Matches Fashion.

Following her colourful look at the Burberry Body Launch event, Kate Bosworth donned a head-to-toe black look for Chanel’s intimate dinner party which was held at the Robertson Blvd. Boutique in LA yesterday evening.

Her Chanel ensemble consisted of a black A-line tweed skirt which she paired with a black long-sleeve silk shirt.

The shirt has embroidered gold chain cuffs, plus the same details covered the buttons.

Her Chanel lace-up wedges also had a gold chain trim.

Kate accessorized with a sequin Chanel bag and a single gold banded ring.

A simple bun and minimal makeup completed her look.

Lady Gaga is currently in New Delhi, India where she’s due to perform at the Formula One after-party as part of India’s debut on the F1 circuit.

She held a press conference at the Taj Mansingh Hotel to announce her performance wearing a Naeem Khan Resort 2012 gown.

The watercolour one-shoulder gown isn’t the most obvious choice for the singer, but as usual she makes it work for her by colouring her tightly wrapped bun to match her gown.

Oversized black sunglasses, a diamond necklace, matching bracelet and black clutch completed her look.

Dita von Teese was in Melbourne, Australia yesterday for the launch of her first ever clothing line, Dita Von Teese ‘Muse’ Collection.

The Burlesque Queen designed her very own limited edition collection, which will allow us to emulate her ladylike look.

The collection of only five pieces, which includes vintage-inspired dresses and a tulle layered trench coat, will be sold exclusively through Australian retailer David Jones.

We should expect couture detailing, cinched-in waists, vintage inspirations and impeccable attention to detail.

The collection will be available at David Jones from February 2012.

Dita opted for a bold, colourful look for the launch which included a floral print dress and red hot signature touches.
