Leelee Sobieski attended Fashion Group International’s 28th annual Night of Stars which was held at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City yesterday evening.
The actress wore a Jil Sander Fall 2011 ensemble.
This Prussian blue cotton shirt paired with a chocolate skirt seems like an easy enough look to pull off, but I can count one other person who could do it justice and that is Tilda Swinton – of course.
You have to have a certain kind of attitude, a swag if you will, to make this look luxurious and for me she gets it right. She works it better than the model imo.
Leelee’s baby-blue eyes really pop against her navy shirt.
She wore her hair back into a simple bun and added soft pink lips to complete her minimalist look.

Speechless. Well, not really, buy very nearly there. I gasped when I saw Leelee in this, so perfect does she look and so effortlessly does she carry it off. She. Owns. This. As much as I love Ms. Swinton, it is so nice to see Jil Sander on the red carpet on someone apart from Tilda. And even more rewarding when it looks as stunning as this. I don’t know how I’m going to decide this week, but I humbly nominate Leelee for BDOTW. She has really raised the bar for me in this look.

I like Leelee’s style – very paired back and softly structural. This is perfect on her.
She looks like Tilda’s daughter here. Nice try for doing something outside what you would expect with this look, so she gets extra points for it even if she does not pul it off that well.
Tilda immediately came to mind, but I think she looks divine and I love these colors paired together.

Well, that’s an interesting question. I don’t know that everyone chooses clothing just because it would be flattering, really: she may have chosen it because she likes the volume, the way it is unconventional, as a defiant challenge to the blandly pretty dresses that so many starlets wear, etc. Perhaps because she has an unusual loveliness she likes clothes that are also unusual. Jolie-laide, if you will.
All good points–and I respect your point of view. These shapeless looks just don’t appeal to my taste, though I do like some less conventional designers.

Sobieski, Leelee, is amazing. My favorite look was the tuxedo by her husband Adam Kimmel. He is the best meswear designer in the worls and he should make the womens clothes becasue that is all would i be wearingf.
