Carina Lau always appears to be having fun with fashion on the red carpet.
The Asian actress attended the Tianjin Wanda Mansion opening ceremony in China on Sunday evening wearing a Lanvin floral print dress from the Fall 2011 collection.
Her black and white floral print dress ticks all the right boxes: fun, flirty and fabulous.
Carina offset the fully pleated skirt and cuffs by adding black Christian Louboutin Figurina suede ankle boots and a sleek metallic silver bag.
She swept her hair back to keep the focus on this exquisite dress and applied minimal makeup to complete her look.

As you said, fun, flirty and fabulous
would have been brilliant had she not worn those ugly shoes.
Initially I feel a bit lost in it but it is growing on me. I think a belt may have worked to help break it up a bit.
The problem with Lanvin is that one needs to be able to sell it – if you aren’t striking the right pose, telling a story it’s not going to work.
And as much as I love this dress, it’s not working here, It’s completely shapeless, failing to do anything for her.
And don’t even get me started on the boots.
Exactly. And she is doing nothing whatsoever to give this dress any sense of life or vitality. Major missed opportunity.
Way too busy. Don’t like the dress–either the print or the shape, not both together. Bad look.
I totally agree. And the boots make it even worse.
This isn’t working for me. Maybe on someone else this would look good.
Adorable dress but the whole thing is just not working ON HER.
Ugly shoes and she appears to be drowning in this dress. Thumbs down from me.
i love this dress on the runway, but it does not translate to me on the red carpet. Not sure if she is not the right person or if it would overwhelm everybody wearing it. Maybe it’s just too much print.
+1 and the boots look like hoofs.
I agree with FC that this look is FUN!
Great print, bad fitting. Look at her shoulders here! Admittedly I am not at all a fan of the little girl look on grown women.
Sandal heels (that had something to do with the purse), would have helped tremendously.
It’s all a bit awkward and odd. I love the print but there should be less of that dress, maybe lose the sleeves. And those booties?? Very wrong, even on the runway.
Hey there Fashion Critic.
Dita von Teese wore this very same dress (and spectacularly I might add) over the weekend at a Lanvin event in LA – link below, it is one of the last images in the slideshow. Not sure whether you were planning on featuring it, but I think it would be great if you could put it up against Carina in a “Who Wore It Better” poll. It was my absolute favourite dress from Lanvin’s Fall 2011 collection and I’d be interested to see if people thought that Dita wore it as beautifully as I thought she did. Thanks x

Thanks for spotting that.
I will try to put it up this week.
