Rooney Mara For Vogue US November 2011

‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ actress Rooney Mara graces the November 2011 issue of Vogue US wearing a Ralph Lauren gown which has an embroidered dragon motif on the back.

She doesn’t let that crazy haircut hinder her as she looks stunning in the rest of her editorial, which was shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.

We see her wearing Alexander Wang, Marchesa, Calvin Klein Collection, Bottega Veneta and a Vera Wang gown which took my breath away.

It will be interesting to see what style direction she takes during the promotional tour of this movie, as she has the edgy haircut to contend with.

The first time I featured her, she looked very pretty wearing a blush Alberta Ferretti dress. Somehow I think her look will be a lot darker for this movie.

In her interview, Rooney Mara, younger sister to Kate Mara discusses losing weight for the role, how her aesthetic has changed, and the media frenzy surrounding the movie.

The issue hits newsstands on October 23.

Below are some extracts from her interview, or you can read the whole story over at Vogue.com.

On losing weight for the role: “One of the things that make our version that much more heartbreaking is that even though I am playing a 24-year-old, I look much younger. I look like a child.”

On the media frenzy surrounding the movie: “Where do I go from here? I’ve been trying to really live in the moment because I will never get this part of it back. As soon as the movie comes out, everyone will turn it into what they believe it is, so I’ve really been trying to appreciate every minute of now. Because I know what’s coming.”

On how her aesthetic has changed: “Before, I dressed much girlier. A lot of blush-coloured things. Now I literally roll out of bed and put on whatever is there. I have really enjoyed being a boy this last year.”

Wow, just wow. I love everything. The silver Marchesa and black CK are my favourites. I’d love to see the Calvin Klein on the red carpet, even if it is a black gown.

that CK gown is simply gorgeous..but i cant help but be disturbed of Fincher’s hold on her, if that article is any indication

+1. Even though he was ‘joking’ about her just having a grape at lunch, it sat wrong with me: like she was under his perpetual, domineering microscope.

Love seeing someone on the cover who isn’t widely known yet and she looks gorgeous in each photo. Looking forward to the film.

    fantastic ediorial.

I feel she should maybe embrace the look and try an updated Louise Brooks bob, or something in that vein.

I don’t like her look as Lisbeth (in the movie) but I do like the way she looks in her Vogue shoot. The hair is much better. I feel like in the movie – her look is too severe than what I imagined from reading the book. I prefer Noomi’s version of Lisbeth.

Theree is a painting of the suicide of Hamlet’s Ophelia by Sir John everett Millais. I remembered instantly when I saw the second and last pictures of this photoshoot:

Beautiful pictures and she does justice to the awesome dresses.

The character in the book is described as looking like an anorexic teenage boy and imo Mara is a good fit for that. The photos are great but I must say, the accompanying interview gave me the creeps.
