Kate Beckinsale was one of many stars to skip the red carpet at Spike TV’s Scream 2011 Awards in California on Saturday night.
The British actress presented wearing a Julien Macdonald Spring 2010 dress.
Her white scuba dress with padded shoulders is quite a step away from Kate’s usual girlie style.
Unfortunately the shoulders make her look like a Quarterback in this picture.
There weren’t any full-length pictures, but I will bet she was wearing pumps.
Her half-up, half-down hairstyle managed to soften the dramatic shoulders, but I still don’t think this was the right look for her.
Cheryl Cole wore the runway version to Gary Barlow’s birthday party at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in January last year.

I actually like it. I think it could have been better if she had worn her hair up.
The hair is awful. The shoulder pads are awful and the peeking lining of the dress is awful.
If there is a way to make these “quarterback shoulders” work than her hairstyle is the one. I think the volume of her hair does make this look work for her.

Funny how I thought she looked like Cheryl Cole at first glance, must have been the deja vu. I actually really like this look on her, the shoulders are big but somehow it works.

I too thought it was Cheryl Cole when I first saw the pic. Definitely not Kate’s best look. I don’t think anyone would look good in this number. I’m sure she will do better next time.
