Cheryl Cole stepped out in London last night to watch ‘Shrek the Musical’ at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
She was there to support bandmate Kimberley Walsh who was performing as Princess Fiona.
Cheryl opted for a Moschino two-tone dress from the Fall 2011 dress, which we’ve already seen on Zooey Deschanel.
For the last few outings, especially the Victoria Beckham dress, I sense that Cheryl has only been wearing certain looks to draw attention to herself since she has nothing else going on.
I find it hard to take her seriously in this dress.
An updo and Giuseppe Zanotti toe-cap pumps completed her look.

Really? Well lets see how well that goes for her when she doesn’t have the X Factor hype to back her up
I see she also opted to keep the collar just like Zooey. The whole look is just comical – a silly awkward caricature. You can almost feel her uncomfort and confusion.
I can’t look at the collar of that dress without seeing a court jester. I do like the shoes though.
I’m a loyal reader of your blog and even though I agree with most of your comments, you are so harsh on cheryl…. When is not the hair, is the make up or the shoes,or the dress…..you seem to have beef with her, I’m not sure of her celebrity history cause I don’t follow UK celebrities or WAGs but you need to be a little bit less biased, it reflects on your ability to a neutral, unbiased comment on fashion….what has to do her dress choice to be taken seriously?
I don’t have ‘beef’ with her…geez it seems when people favour a star I get criticized when I honestly don’t like what they are wearing. Do I have to like it? No. So I don’t understand the uproar whenever say I don’t like what she’s wearing. It’s becoming a little weary to say the very least.
It always seems to happen when I say what I honestly feel about Cheryl Cole or Kate Middleton.
I don’t take Cheryl seriously in this dress because she looks like Coco the Clown.
What was the difference between Zoe and Cheryl? Same dress different clown?……. I have to agree with you Kate Middleton is a fashion booooooore. Anyways we can agree to disagree. I enjoy your blog, will continue to visit and thank you for your hard work.
WWIB polls prove that no two people wear a dress the same way.
I hope this satisfactorily answers your question.
Some people live by the motto ‘if i have my opinion, i’m going to give it’ whilst others live by ‘if i can’t say something to someones face, i wont say it all’. You do what obviously works for you. Stay classy F.C! xxxxx
Thanks Catherine x
Oh dear. I was being sarcastic. I meant if u cudnt say it to cheryls face, which i wud pay to see, than don’t say it at all! Love and light and cupcakes and sweetie daaaaahling kiss kiss xxx
Catherine, leave FC alone, you are dragging this simple blog post into Mean Girls territory. Why so immature?
FC, I am NOT being sarcastic – I think your fashion coverage is excellent and unbiased.
Thank u x
ditto…
Okaaaay. That was harsh FC! You obviously needed to get that rant off your chest! Fashion month comedown?
Not her best look, that’s for sure. And I know I said this in previous posts, but I really dislike her blond hair.
This dress is wearing her – this is an awful look. Maybe Swinton could carry this off, it’s certainly not for everyone.
I disagree. I think she looks gorgeous, and I love how she decided to compliment the dress with the b&w cap toe pumps. That’s certainly a step up from the boring black pumps Zooey wore with this dress.
+1, particularly re the shoes.
I think the comment about the Victoria Beckham dress is a bit weird. i personally think she looked gorgeous in it, some did, some didn’t. she is always going to get attention, her trip to Afghanistan was with the Pride of Britain awards so obviously she was going to be there. Just last week there were stories on front pages of her and victoria beckham being at ‘war’ over fashion, i thought it was a nice way for both of them to dismiss it whilst cheryl wearing a nice dress.
as for this dress i think it slightly ages her but in other photos with nicola and kimberly she does look better. I like the shoes with it. i think she looked happy on the night.
While I was initially surprised that she wore such a daring dress, especially after Zooey Deschanel had worn it, I was like “What was she thinking?”. But, now, surprisingly, I think it actually looks good on her, too.
i don’t think she looks bad in this, although i am not sure if she is the right person to pull of the clochard collar. Zooey is a more kooky girl.
I do believe though this is totally overdressed to see somebody perform at a theatre, unless it was a gala function.
I don’t understand why people comment to criticize FC? If you don’t like what your reading then why not start your own blog and give your own views? or even give them here but not in such a direct way…also a dress can look amazing on one person and terrible on the next it can be as much about the individual as the dress I think. I’m not saying i think its wrong when people comment! just when you go so direct to the person who wrote it and say that someone should do something this way or that someones personal view should not be shown because at the end of the day we all come here to get FCs opinion! Don’t meant to upset anyone with this comment but I just felt strongly after reading the comments.
Thanks Calum.
I will always continue to be myself and write what I feel.
I agree no need to get personal or nasty….personally I was curious, I live in the US and I haver never heard a track by her nor have I ever seen her in a show so in my case I was thinking about a dislike from FC to the celebrity regardless of the fashion selection. Is her blog, is her little world and we are only visitors who have the choice not to visit if we don’t like what we are reading.
I guess people dont start their own blogs because its kinda like if you dont like a movie why dont you make your own?
FC gives her opinion and the people give back. Obviously people have different tastes and they will clash its just a matter of how you take them. Im not trying to criticise you FC but i think you shouldnt take them to heart and rebutt with equally nasty comments. Just adds fuel to the fire. SOmetimes it pays to be a little more political about arguments. i do respect what you do though and just my thoughts.
thanks for your comment.
I think it would be best if I just stopped posting about Cheryl period.
Her fans don’t seem to like their queen being criticized.
I see the same backlash on Daily Mail and other websites but I’m now tired of it
I hate this dress on her and I don’t mean to be mean or anything, but didn’t she used to be more beautiful? I mean I used to looked at her and think: “my goddd, she has such a pretty face! i wish i could look liker her!” but now, doesn’t her face look strange? or just different? maybe is the make up or the hair but i really think she should actually DO something instead of just go to events with outfits like this
I think after her bout with malaria, she gained a lot of weight and her weight went to her face. She actually used to be a lot slimmer. I agree with you, she doesn’t look as stunningly beautiful as she used to but she’s still one of the most beautiful. I’m happy that she’s healthy, but her face without the extra weight makes her eyes stand out and her facial features look more symmetrical.
Cute Cheryl outfit. Her makeup is beautiful, not too keen on the hair she should go back to being brunette it fits her soft features, and the dress would look a whole lot better without the collar. When you’re extremely beautiful, your clothes should be more simplistic in order to focus on the face.
And I also think everyone should stop giving FC a hard time. It’s her opinion and she’s completely entitled to her. I love Cheryl but I don’t jump down people’s throats just because they don’t agree with me. Plus, the outfit is either a hit or miss with some. Please continue to post on Cheryl FC, I absolutely love your blog and this is the only place where I can get the fashion heads up on Cheryl. XOXO
Ruffles around the neck always look clownish to me. Part of the problem with this look is that she’s just gotten out of the car and isn’t posing, so she looks uncomfortable/uncertain (to me)… and this dress needs someone bold.
aww…I actually think this is a really cute look and appropriate for the event (its Shrek, for gosh sakes!!) lol. I adore her shoe choice, and I think this dress is both fun and stylish.
I like this look, and I think it’s the best Cheryl has looked in a while, and I like it better on her than on Zoe, whose shoe/hooves were atrocious.
She’s not pulling this look off.
perhaps it is my serious lack of sleep or the massive head ache i have but gotta admit the look is cute.
It is completely wearing her. All I see is the dress.
I think this look worked for Zooey because she has the kooky image and personality to pull it off – the clown aspect of the dress even helps her a little bit. She’s fun and a little bit weird, which is cute.
I don’t think it works on Cheryl because her image is one of perfection and glamour, and this dress makes her look silly. However, I do think it’s cool that she is trying new looks – that takes courage.
Let’s be honest here – this dress isn’t “traditionally” pretty. Which means the person wearing it needs to tell a story with it. The problem with Cheryl is that she’s beyond bland, which means she’s absolutely not conveying a story and that means it’s just her in a dress that’s really not pretty.
She needs to stick with boring, pretty stuff because that’s all she can pull off.
gaga would pull this off, not a sweet girl like c.
Of course, you don’t have to like the look and definitely can criticize her fashion, but I just wanted to say she hasn’t tried to draw attention at all.She is just wearing what she likes.
I’m a big fan of Cheryl, but I admit this look is not that good on her.
Lady Gaga would’ve Hepburn-ed this up!
