Red Carpet Fashion Awards

The spirit inside the venue for the Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2012 presentation was very festive, so I knew we were in for something really special.

After the signature black lace bustier dresses for Fall, I was super-excited that this collection started off with plenty of colour and bold prints which included flowers, pomegranates, aubergines, tomatoes, peppers, chillies, and courgettes.

These fun prints on 50s ladylike silhouettes were also presented alongside signature lace dresses in sky blue, beige and black plus chic skirt suits for daywear and midriff-baring cropped bustiers worn with full skirts or bloomers.

As we moved to evening wear, things started to heat up.

Bejewelled dresses and skirts sparkled as the models took to the runway. Sheer looks left little to the imagination in a sexy, classy way.

The presentation ended with the models each donning a jewelled corset which will leave Katy Perry, Kylie Minogue, Fergie and Rihanna spoilt for choice.

Key accessories included pasta and garlic-bulb-shaped earrings and necklaces.

We saw straw bags in several colours including gold, green, blue and black, plus lace top handle bags, crochet bags, plastic bags, fur bags and an updated version of the very popular Miss Sicily bag. Clutches were also decorated with pasta and garlic bulbs.

Shoes ranged from T-bar pumps, plastic ankle boots with lace accents, sandals decorated with multi-coloured stones and Mary Jane heels.

Olivia Wilde graced the red carpet at Variety’s 3rd Annual Power of Women event which was held at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons Hotel last week.

She opted for a sophisticated Jason Wu Fall 2011 dress.

Her houndstooth-print sleeveless sheath dress with scalloped lace embroidery was paired with grey suede YSL ‘Palais’ platform pumps and Eddie Borgo jewelry.

The actress wore her hair in a chic updo whilst keeping her makeup simple minus a hot flash of bold fuchsia pink lipstick.

Olivia continues to slide for me.

The pieces are great individually, but the styling ages her quite dramatically.

Demi Moore was at the same event, yet she looks younger and more modern than Olivia does.

Following the figure-hugging, breast-enhancing dresses from Emilio Pucci’s Fall 2011 collection which Beyonce Knowles and Jennifer Lopez fell in love with last season, Peter Dundas opted for a more free-flowing silhouette for Spring 2012.

The Pucci woman is still uber sexy but with added Latin spirit.

I envied the models as they stormed the runway wearing midriff-baring tops paired with maxi skirts, signalling that Peter’s motto for the Pucci woman is still, “If you’ve got it, flaunt it.”

We also saw flamenco-style dresses and many handkerchief dresses with the brand’s signature prints.

For those not wanting to flaunt too much, Peter showcased black tailored pant suits, which were paired with red lace bras, and white crochet pieces paired with white blazers.

Drop-waist dresses, peasant tops, embellished printed shirts, Bermuda shorts, underwear-revealing crochet dresses, loose-fitted pants, embroidered blazers and off-the-shoulder dresses in varying lengths, plus a stunning finale gown with a flowing train made up the rest of this collection.

For the red carpet, we saw a selection of sparkling mini dresses which Fergie will be calling in for her next big event, but I’m guessing she will have to fight Miss Minogue for first dibs as these sparklers would make great performance pieces too.

Key accessories included layered necklaces with crucifixes, printed scarves tied around the waist, the updated ‘Marquis’ bag, gold hooped earrings and signature sexy strappy sandals.

Being the fashion geek that I am, I was really excited to see Gwyneth Paltrow’s Emmys look take the runway during this presentation. It was quite strange to recognise a look on the runway when it is usually the other way around.

I liked it on Gwynie, but I loved it on the model.

Favourites: White crochet ensemble with white blazer and embellished long sleeve dress

Demi Moore made a welcome return to the red carpet for Variety’s 3rd Annual Power Of Women luncheon which was held in Beverly Hills on Friday night.

The actress wore a Victoria Beckham Spring 2012 fitted dress.

Her blush-coloured commercial dress had a white contrast shoulder.

I instantly recognised Demi’s snakeskin Alexandre Birman sandals, because they were on my wish list before they sold out on Net-A-Porter.

Wavy brunette locks, a blush-coloured clutch and Pomellato Tango Collection brown diamond earrings completed her look.

I was pretty floored when I saw this picture because Mrs Kutcher is not wearing her favoured head-to-toe black.

I wonder if she had to be wrestled into this look.

Lea Michele was honoured at Variety’s 3rd Annual Power Of Women luncheon which was held in Beverly Hills on Friday night.

The ‘Glee’ star donned a Katharine Kidd Spring 2012 mini dress which showed off her toned legs.

Her ivory organza jacquard dress has an iridescent chiffon contrast and puff sleeves.

Lea’s accessories included gold Christian Louboutin sandals, a beige Fendi clutch and Melinda Maria gold dangle earrings.

A purposely messy updo and pink lips provided the finishing touches to her look.

I think Lea is back on the right path. When she’s not trying too hard, she’s a delight on the red carpet. This is one of those moments.

The Frankie Morello girl is touring Italy for Spring 2012.

Portofino, Venice, Rome, Pisa and the magnificent Amalfi Coast were the inspirations for this ‘Souvenir of Italy’ collection.

Printed handkerchief dresses, cycling shorts, short flared skirts, fan dresses, leggings, bomber jackets and crop tops were presented in this fun, energetic collection.

This unique collection stands out from the floral themes we have seen this fashion week. The young and adventurous would love this collection.

Key accessories included hallowed wedges, backpacks, oversized gold hooped earrings, large gold necklaces and black headpieces in the shape of monuments like the leaning tower of Pisa.

Cameras played a huge part in this presentation as they were worn as fascinators, necklaces and shoulder bags.

Terry Barber created the models’ wing tip eyes using MAC Cosmetics whilst Marco Lafrate styled the models’ hair into a purposely messy low bun.
