Prior to the Dolce & Gabbana show, I was invited to the VIP Room and backstage.
The VIP room is an oasis for special guests of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana who are invited to drink champagne and enjoy canapés.
A lift from the ground floor takes the guests into a beautiful room decked out with black walls, opulent chandeliers, velvet-covered sofas with gold trims and gold-framed mirrors.
I took this gorgeous picture of Paloma Faith and Poppy Delevigne who greeted each other like old friends.
Paloma, surprisingly, recognized me from the first time we met at the ‘Burlesque’ London Premiere late last year.
She was representing Dolce & Gabbana, wearing a beautiful strapless mermaid gown, evoking the “go big or go home” spirit of the brand. I adore her pink lips and her veiled fascinator.
Poppy opted for a super-cute Dolce & Gabbana signature lace strapless dress with red lips for a sultry pop of colour.
I was introduced to Lynn Xiong, who floored me with her beauty. She was dressed in a black lace Dolce & Gabbana dress which she paired with a sequinned clutch and coral pumps.
Italian actress Gabriella Pession also wore a black lace dress. I spotted her being interviewed by Swide which is the online luxury magazine for Dolce & Gabbana.
As I made my way down to the backstage area, I passed iconic black and white images on the walls which have no doubt served as inspiration to Domenico and Stefano.
The first person I saw backstage was Pat McGrath. I have seen the legendary makeup artist several times before on the Fashion Week circuit, but this was the first time I had seen her ‘at the office’.
She’s like a conductor holding the whole show together, giving directions here, applying finishing touches there. It was a pleasure to watch.
Further in the room, dressed models were receiving final touch ups. Dressers were tying, adjusting and replacing. Hairstylists were pinning, spraying and fluffing.
I have been backstage a few times and I still expect to see model tantrums, panic and chaos, but I always find a relaxed atmosphere of professional people who know what they are doing.
Just before show time, the VIP area was made into a super VIP area, as Scarlett Johansson – the face (and body) of the cosmetic line – was granted a one-on-one with the designers.
She epitomized the brand with her old Hollywood 50s screen siren look, sporting marcel waves, and a beautiful red pout.
We have longed for Scarlett to return to her bombshell ways. We most definitely got a glimpse of that on this occasion.

Enjoyed reading the post, nice to have a glimpse of what´s happening backstage.
The best was def. saved for last – Scarlett lights up the VIP area with her sensuous beauty.
The 1st two, Poppy and Paloma, can be Cinderella´s step sisters – both look extremely awkward and silly. The Italian actress looks sexy and very much plastic, and who let Lynn X. in… with that oversized pink clutch and coral pumps worn ON TOP OF SOCKS – Hideous!
Great post FC! Thanks for sharing this with us! I adore Paloma’s make-up, the pink lips..love!
my pleasure. It was a truly wonderful experience.
Thanks for making me feel like I was there ( even though I am wearing pj’s at the moment!)

Awesome! Love your description of the final touch ups of the models.
Ohhhh FC! Sound like fun! As I like to say when I am lucky enough to have the opportunity, “being whisked does NOT suck”!
I loved this post! Thank you for sharing your experience with all of us.
I’m glad you liked it
I second that.
Great post, loved the descriptions and the pics. Scarlett sure looks wonderful here.
thanks x
Wow, it soudns amazing. Honestly I think PAt McGrath is a genius, I adore her and she always seems to humble ad well centred, adn her makeup skills are incredible, she can do it all. I also find it amusing that each of the four celebrities, aside from scarlett, at the event wore black corsetted dresses, and 3 of those 4 dresses had lace on it.
YES! Scarlett is back to blonde! (If I’m a tad late, please excuse me.)
