Red gowns ruled the red carpet at the 2011 Emmy Awards last night.
Stars usually avoid this bold hue in fear of fading into the background, but each star stood out.
My favourites were most definitely Nina Dobrev in Donna Karan and Kerry Washington in Zuhair Murad Couture.
Kate Winslet looked super chic in Elie Saab and Lea Michele opted for a scarlet Marchesa gown.
Adrianne Palicki in Dolce & Gabbana, Kathy Griffin in Oscar de la Renta, Angela Kinsey in Romona Keveza, Giuliana Rancic in Roberto Cavalli and Nancy O’Dell in Lorena Sarbu were all beautiful in the colour of the night.

at first, i thought nobody and nothing could top nina dobrev in donna karan. but then kerry washington came along, her zuhair murad gown wins for me! this is perfection.
The Donna Karan dress was my favorite, although I did like the Marchesa dress (but the person wearing it was rather obnoxious, IMO).

Nina for sure. I like Kerry Washington’s gown but the hair and makeup is a let down!!

My favourite was Nina Dobrev, I usually don’t like her style but she really did bring her a game last night.
I also loved Martha Plimpton’s burgundy gown, she was smoking hot!

Agree about Nancy’s earrings. When she was interviewing they swayed around like crazy and were really distracting .

Nina and Kate. If Kerry wasn’t so skinny I would voted for her because her dress is sensational, but her lack of curves let her down! The dress would fit better if she was a litlle bit more curvy!
Nina by far. The way the dress hugs her curves and the hair, it just has the Old Hollywood glamour to it. She oozed just the right amount of sex appeal in it, not to mention I’m glad she went with a lighter shade of lipstick.
The best red gown here wasn’t even featured here. It was Martha Plimpton’s. She looked amazing. Her red jewel gown was great.
Kerry looked the most beautiful here. And Kate Winslet looked incredible, though this isn’t the most flattering pic of her.

I can’t deny that Nina Dobrev’s look was stunning, but I focused more on Kate Winslet, since she doesn’t often wear colours lately, so I think this red gown was a big step.
Maybe a bit off-topic, but I wanted to comment on something else: I noticed that besides this fashion trend, there was also a beauty trend on the Emmy’s red carpet: the side-swept. When I was checking the photos, I think half of the women wore their hair this way.

Every other gown paled in comparison once I saw Nina’s. She looks stunning! I’m so in love with the dress, I can’t stop gushing about it to anyone who will listen! Lea’s? Eh. I think I would have liked it better if her hair was up so we could see the back better. Kate’s dress? Not saying that she doesn’t look killer in it, just feels like I’ve seen it a hundred times before. Kerry’s dress was gorgeous, but she wasn’t pulling it off for me.
Can someone please tell me if their stylists planned this or something? Cause there’s no way they ALL coincidentally wore red on the same event!

I’m sorry but the Emmy’s is always one of the worst dressed events. These red dresses are so plain, most of which are just strapless with a train. I want to have a favorite so bad but everyone is just mediocre at best.
