Gwyneth Paltrow In Emilio Pucci – 2011 Emmy Awards

Gwyneth Paltrow dared to bare on the red carpet at the 2011 Emmy Awards tonight.

The actress wore a sexy black Emilio Pucci top and skirt, showing off her toned midriff.

Her ensemble features black embellishments all over and tulle trims.

She accessorized with Neil Lane jewelry and Roger Vivier ‘Spider’ sandals.

Gwyneth’s look will no doubt cause the most commotion as you will either love it or hate it.

Whilst not being a fan of bare midriffs on the red carpet, I kinda have to says she is working the look.

It would’ve looked amazing at the Grammys, I’m not sure this was the right event for this look.

Straight locks and flawless makeup completed her red carpet look.

    Well, i love it.

  2. LizLemooooon September 19, 2011 at 01:49 #

Urgh I loathe this woman and I wish this was worn by someone else but I can’t deny this is a strong look. Love it.

  3. Hannah September 19, 2011 at 01:50 #

DEfintiely hate it. I think that ehr hair and makeup are gorgeous, but this is so 1990′s. I think it makes are look boxy, and it is sad because had it been one much more elegant piece it could have been a gorgeous dress, but sadly not. Almost as bad as Taraji’s blumarine.

  4. Joy September 19, 2011 at 01:50 #

    Hate it.

  5. molly September 19, 2011 at 01:51 #

Not right for the event. Wayyy to casual.

  6. asherlev1 September 19, 2011 at 01:52 #

Lol I was loving her there for a minute with the pink gown with a bow….but I’m back to a big no again.

    Oh Gwyneth.

  7. Paulo September 19, 2011 at 01:55 #

I feel that I ‘want’ to dislike it but I think Gwyneth really makes it work for her.

    • Fashion Critic September 19, 2011 at 02:02 #

      I feel the same

      • bas September 19, 2011 at 12:27 #

        I totally agree.

        • DP September 19, 2011 at 13:37 #

Yeah, me too. I kind of feel that if you’d described this outfit to me without a photo, I’d have thought ‘yech!’ but seeing her in it, she looks amazing and I love it!

    • Alina September 19, 2011 at 18:11 #

      I feel the same way.

  8. Linda September 19, 2011 at 01:58 #

Imagine how gorgeous it would be if, as Hannah said, it were one elegant piece. The design on the skirt is particularly gorgeous.

The bare midriff does date the look and bring it down. Hair and makeup are great though, and it certainly wouldn’t be on my worst dressed list.

  9. DivaDebbi (the Blog) September 19, 2011 at 02:00 #

I just wish her midriff wasn’t bare…I think it detracts rather than adds, but we will talk about it….

FC, I hope you won’t mind that I blogged about you and Red Carpet Fashion Awards tonight. You rock Lady!

        Is FC not the best???

        • Fashion Critic September 19, 2011 at 20:47 #

my head is getting huge over here ;)

  10. Marlie September 19, 2011 at 02:00 #

Loving the print but not the style of the dress. I can’t get on board with the midriff.

  11. Amber September 19, 2011 at 02:01 #

Put me in the hater camp, too.

    • Julie September 19, 2011 at 15:27 #

      I agree. It looks sloppy.

  12. Clancy from dallas September 19, 2011 at 02:05 #

Love it. She rocked it and is sexy and fun in it! Love her more and more on the red carpet! She doesn’t take herself to seriously and I love that.

    • Marvel September 19, 2011 at 12:14 #

I agree. She looks sexy and so risky compared to what everyone else wore. Your right, she doesnt take herself too seriously and she’s having fun.

I bet if Blake Lively wore this, there would be +100 comments saying she looked looked too slutty

  13. claudio September 19, 2011 at 02:08 #

the tulle on the bottom of the top make it look like she is fat. also i`m not too fond into the bollywood vibe of this look.

    • Dee September 19, 2011 at 02:44 #

This is exactly what I was thinking.

      • claudio September 19, 2011 at 02:58 #

the shadow of the tulle make her abs looks really weird right?

        • Dee September 19, 2011 at 03:27 #

Yes, definitely. Like she has ab rolls or something, even though we know she is super thin. Not a good look!

    • Jones19 September 19, 2011 at 11:18 #

Yep from certain angles it looks like she has a muffin top. Not good.

      • maria September 19, 2011 at 17:36 #

i totally agree with you guys.

        • Emily September 19, 2011 at 22:07 #

Agree! It seems to give her stomach rolls even though everyone knows she has 0% fat anywhere on her…

  14. TeaAtTwo September 19, 2011 at 02:10 #

I might have been able to get on board if it had been sheer but bare! no, I hate it.

  15. chocolatepluscheese September 19, 2011 at 02:11 #

I just can’t like this as a 2-piece with the bare midriff… And the beading on the top emphasizes the bust in a weird way…. does anyone else see that?

    • beadingchef September 19, 2011 at 22:16 #

I agree, the skirt is to die for, the top for me kills this look.

  16. Alice September 19, 2011 at 02:11 #

    Love it!!

  17. Carmen September 19, 2011 at 02:12 #

I love Gwiyneth but sorry that look NO¡¡ I am not too fan of the bare midriff.

  18. Lo September 19, 2011 at 02:12 #

Love it. She is daring to be different and dressing for fashion without dressing so high octane she competes with nominees. Love love love it!!!!

  19. Tahj September 19, 2011 at 02:13 #

This is just horrible. Gwyneth Paltrow has horrible style so I don’t know why people have always hyped her up to be so stylish. She gets it wrong at the award shows on a consistent basis.

Leave the bare midriffs to the 90s. Britney Spears should not be anyone fashion inspiration.

    • CreoleLady September 19, 2011 at 03:15 #

Britney Spears … fashion inspiration … LMAO :).

  20. Kaylie September 19, 2011 at 02:14 #

Not right for this event. Feels like she’s trying too hard as well.

  21. María September 19, 2011 at 02:25 #

    I love it.
She just has to do that thing with a licked finger on her butt on fire.

  22. Parvati September 19, 2011 at 02:33 #

I kinda like this look, but I don’t like the way the tulle is covering her midriff. It seems a bit weird.

  23. Elizabeth September 19, 2011 at 02:56 #

I love this…Gwyneth totally has the right figure to pull this off!

    • PamG September 19, 2011 at 05:39 #

Really? She is very fit, but she has a column body, so because her waist doesn’t naturally ‘nip’ in, I’m not sure it’s the best look for her.

  24. MJ September 19, 2011 at 03:08 #

I don’t know. I certainly have liked her lately, but I’m kinda hating this one. Guess I have to agree with Tahj overall LOL. Wow, it could have been beautiful as one continuous dress.

  25. Grace September 19, 2011 at 03:10 #

In other pictures it looks like she has a muffin top. It’s an illusion, of course, as Gwynnie would die before gaining the 20 lbs, this dress adds.

    • Elaine2 September 19, 2011 at 14:02 #

You’re right! I didn’t notice that when she was on the red carpet. She made a comment to the broadcaster that her dress was more sheer/revealing than she had anticipated.

Maybe if she had sized up in the dress, she wouldn’t have the muffin top. The beadwork is really interesting and impressive, I thought.

  26. Monix September 19, 2011 at 03:24 #

this dress looked great in motion and she is working it. unpredictable too – which sets her apart.

  27. Jen September 19, 2011 at 03:28 #

I think this works. The little bit of midriff and the cut of the top brings to mind the little blouses often worn with saris.

  28. Rebecca September 19, 2011 at 04:13 #

Loive it!!! She looks effortless everytime and is never predictable. She has doned the big dress, the fitted dress, the mini and now she is working something else and she totes pulls it off like no other mother.

  29. doc September 19, 2011 at 04:14 #

Don’t like it. It looks dated, like circa 1998.

  30. Leti September 19, 2011 at 04:25 #

I don’t love this. It’s not entirely flattering, but I’ll give her credit for baring her midriff tastefully (no belly button).

  31. Rebecca Z September 19, 2011 at 04:40 #

Put me in the + camp–I think it is beautiful, different and very striking.

  32. M September 19, 2011 at 06:51 #

    Love it!

  33. roxana September 19, 2011 at 07:25 #

    great look!

  34. A September 19, 2011 at 09:05 #

Just go with the flow people. She looks great and that’s that. lol :> Thanks for the amazing coverage, FC!!! xoxo

    • Fashion Critic September 19, 2011 at 10:24 #

      Xxx you’re welcome

  35. Zineb September 19, 2011 at 09:32 #

    HATE IT !!

  36. Emi September 19, 2011 at 10:02 #

I don’t like it, old and not chic at all. It doesn’t even seem Emilio Pucci.

    • Courteney September 19, 2011 at 14:59 #

I agree completely! It doesn’t seem like Emilio Pucci at all!

  37. Pam September 19, 2011 at 11:09 #

Aw. I’m really disappointed. I loathe the bare midriff! Other than that, the outfit is nice.

  38. Courteney September 19, 2011 at 14:58 #

I don’t hate this look but I’m not wild about it either. It’s not really flattering and feels sort of matronly although it’s not at the same time. It’s just I don’t know. Something is not working and it’s difficult to pinpoint what it is exactly.

    • Courteney September 19, 2011 at 15:00 #

I do think her hair and makeup are flawless however!

  39. Maggie September 19, 2011 at 17:36 #

I love it! I love that she takes chances. It’s something different!

  40. oksana September 20, 2011 at 00:05 #

    this was best for me

  41. marina September 20, 2011 at 00:07 #

Couldn’t stop commenting on this one. Lovely outfit, but…
her stomach is a different clor than her arms and face, like she tanned it to define her abs.

Her type of body, whereas model-like and very slim. is not for this type of dresses that put emphasis on he waist. She could have found a much better syle to suit her body type.

Lovely fabric, tho. And GP really tries to sell he look.

  42. Jose September 24, 2011 at 23:29 #

    THIS IS A SPRING 2012 LOOK! :o
