I usually find myself uninspired when it comes to black gowns on the red carpet, but I found myself loving Gretchen Mol at the 2011 Emmy Awards tonight.
The blonde actress looked stunning wearing a L’Wren Scott gown.
Her black strapless silk gown was paired with Art Deco jade and diamond Fred Leighton jewels.
Black and jade continues to be a red carpet trend thanks to Angelina Jolie.
A simple black clutch, dark pink lips and soft waves completed her look.

stunning. simple but not dull. i’d say this is one of her best looks.
she reminds me of rosamund pike in these pictures.
LOVE! This is black done well.
The subtle shimmer, the sinuous line from bust to hem, the Veronica Lake waves — pure glamour.
First of all, i’m from Argentina and I don´t know how during the Golden Globes I ended up here, but I can’t stop reading your blog. Its Amazing.
Black is the most safety choice for a Red Carpet but sometime it may be boring. Gretchen in this case looks realy sexy like the two other stars I saw wearing black, Evan Rachel Wood and Naya Rivera
thank you xxx
I find myself in the same position as you, FC, when it comes to black on the red carpet but this is simple gown is stunning. The silk material and the cut makes the black very rich. Her red lips are perfect. I love this! Her hair is also gorgeous. She reminds me of Molly from ANTM Cycle 16!
Wow. BDOTW for me–she looks amazing. Elegant and sexy.
Simple but utterly utterly classic.
+1
I though this was Kirsten Dunst at fist. But yes she looks great. Very classic.
A bit too much make up, but stunning.
Meh. A nice look but far too dark for such a sunny day
“doing an angelina” but still a copy
Less is more sometimes, and this look proves it beyond a shadow of doubt. Beautiful!
Hi, the earrings and bracelet are Art Deco jade and diamond – not emeralds. Thanks!
thanks…corrected
I adore this look. The gown being quite subtle really works because it works as a canvas to make the whoel look all together more sultry adn glamorous. I just wish her roots had been done, because with the highlights are everythign it makes her hair look a little bit greasy.
gorgeous!
