Michael Kors Spring 2012

The Michael Kors Spring 2012 collection was presented yesterday during New York Fashion Week.

Between the warm marigold, mustard and tan colour palette plus the animal prints I live for this ‘Afriluxe’ collection. I was totally in my element.

I expected American sportswear, but was served tribal prints, safari chic and punchy python.

We saw tie-dyed skirts, tops and dresses alongside cool sage rompers, hand dyed blanket dresses, colourful ponchos, silk anoraks, python trench coats, a leopard feathered handkerchief gown and swimsuits paired with belts.

I loved the patchwork shift dress above; Zoe Saldana would floor me in this dress.

Key accessories included python bags, cross-body bags, gladiator flat sandals, woven backpacks messenger bags and wide leather belts.

Orlando Pita gave the models a knotted – almost dreadlock-like – low ponytail for a modern rustic finish.

Front Row: Zoe Saldana, Courtney Love, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Michael Douglas

Favourites: Animal print patchwork dress and tie-dye poncho

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Zoe Saldana, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Simpson, Heidi Klum, Beyonce Knowles, Kerry Washington, Maggie Q, Hilary Swank and Blake Lively

the patchwork dress is stunning and there are some other great pieces, but generally speaking it’s too much animal print for me. I thought we would have a bit of a respite from it.

I expected more. I usually love MK but not so much this time.

I do love the orange with the python print.

The shoes were ATROCIOUS! They love like when a woman slips on her husband sandals to take the trash out, just gross and clumsy.

He must have spent too much time arranging his weeding to foucs on producing a decent collection as this is awful.

Hmmm, interesting that both Kors and Karan experimented with tribal prints. Although I am a big fan of Kors, in this case I much prefer Karan’s execution (design, colors and styling on the catwalk).
