J. Crew still feels very new to me as I’m from the UK.
I’ve learnt a lot about the brands from friends in the US who rave about how great it is, and from Net-A-Porter.com who added the collection to their virtual shelves a few months ago.
On Tuesday I finally saw what all the fuss was about during their Spring 2012 presentation during New York Fashion Week.
As someone who loves colour I was in heaven viewing the beautiful mix of gorgeous rainbow brights ranging from red and yellow and pink and green, orange and purple and blue.
I loved the mixing casual and dressy pieces. A perfect example is the denim shirt paired with the rainbow sequin skirt above.
An ivory sequinned jacket was worn over a denim jacket and paired with slouchy shorts. A dressy polka dot shirt with a neck-tie was paired with a striped coat and denim shorts.
Another interesting pairing was a mix of prints like the striped top with a paisley print skirt and leopard print heels.

I was most impressed with the bold accessories, which included leopard print heels, bright coloured totes, striped clutches, bangles and sunglasses with colourful frames.
Celebrity attendees: Beyonce Knowles and Solange Knowles
Favourites: White top paired with yellow pants and floral print peplum top and pants
Who I See Wearing This Collection: Taylor Swift, Elle Fanning, Victoria Justice, Chloe Moretz, Miranda Cosgrove, Emma Stone, Anna Kendrick, Jennifer Lawrence, Mia Wasikowska, Teresa Palmer and Kristen Stewart (wishful thinking)

i am in heaven, so much colour! every piece is beautiful.
quite like this
Look at all the pretty colors *drool*
Love Jcrew. the quality is wonderful, they have a larger range of sizes, and great sales.
Loved this collection so much. Not particularly fashion forward but J Crew knows what it does and it does it so well. The styling in this show was genius, making every piece and accessory completely lust-worthy. The Kristen Stewart gag gave me a major laugh as well. Although I would dare even Ms. Glum herself to surpress a smile at seeing this stuff. Up there with Preen’s stunning show as a New York Fashion Week highlight. Thanks so much for your updates Fashion Critic. You’re doing a superb job x
thank you…so glad you are enjoying the coverage.
Big JCrew fan here, and they didn’t disappoint! I love the yellow pants with the flowy white blouse, too. Great combo with the turq sandals. Very wearable and chic.
I’m in lust with the slouchy green top and the leopard shorts.
love the soft- green+ animal- print combo
Do you know who did the shoes for Rebecca Minkoff?
not sure
It’s my understanding that Prabal Gurung is doing something special with J. Crew. Solange was wearing one of the outfits. Really cute. Beyonce also wore a special J.Crew dress.
LOVE LOVE love! I want everything. Marissa Webb rocks! I can’t stand how Gorgeous she is!
The handbags really, really caught my attention. All of them are to die for! All of them!
In a way, I see J. Crew of America very much like AllSaints of Britain. Both target at a younger niche, carry a cool vibe and is known for quality, yet each represents the character of their respective origin. Another commonality is that they don’t expand abroad too fast, thus maintaining a bit exclusivity.
