Orange and navy continues to be a hot colour combo for Spring 2012, and we saw it again at Marc by Marc Jacobs.
The designer also combined green and blue a few times in his sporty Spring 2012 collection. The rest of the youthful colour palette included fluorescent pink, red and yellow.
Aside from colour-blocking, red, white, blue and orange stripes dominated the runway on dresses, shorts and bags.
Bird prints are also proving to be popular this season. Marc’s took flight in red, pink and grey.
Aside from cute dresses we saw a navy jumpsuit, peplum skirts, satin cigarette hot pink pants, 50s style swimsuits, patriotic sweaters, drawstring hoodies, satin coats, scarlet short suits and a white oversized shirt dress.
Key accessories included high-top sneakers, roomy totes, sunglasses, leather drawstring bags and colour-block pumps.
The sporty collection went down very well with the editors and buyers in the front row.

I could see Hailee Steinfeld in many of these as well.
it’s not overwhelming, but some looks are cute.
The second picture from the right – the striped dress. It makes the model’s hips already look huge, a normal girl does not stand a chance.
Part of that is because the dress isn’t fitted to her. I think it is hanging kind of sack like. If it were fitted properly it would look better. Although a normal sized woman probably wouldn’t wear a peplum and call more attention to her hip area.
the black dress with the birds on it is so frickin adorable, i love it! the navy jumpsuit is also really nice.
the collection is quite nice, youthful but not too “kiddish”.
interesting again..
Look 39 (http://nymag.com/fashion/fashionshows/2012/spring/main/newyork/womenrunway/marcbymarcjacobs/index1.html#slide39&ss1) looks a lot like the Valli dress Emma Stone wore not too long ago…
I find Marc Jacobs to be terribly over-rated….this collection is a big yawn for me!
Great! i am so not over this (colourblocking) trend!
Of course we, normal folks, were rocking these trends long before some designer put his stamps of approval on it, so they just confirm how good our tastes are! lol
