Gwyneth Paltrow continued her winning streak on the red carpet at the “Contagion” Venice Film Festival Premiere last night.
She dazzled in a gorgeous blush pink Prada gown which features an organza T-back bow detail, making this her second look in a row from the Italian design house.
Her stunning dress was complemented with a light pink Prada ‘Cipria Raso’ hard-case clutch and matching patent leather Prada ‘Vernice’ peep-toe platforms.
Gwyneth chose an intricate pair of yellow gold and diamond Bvlgari earrings, which shone underneath her sophisticated side swept hairstyle.
She opted for simple makeup – save for a slick of pink lipstick, which helped to brighten up her look.
This incredible dress is worthy of the Oscars and Gwyneth almost pulls it off perfectly.
I have to say I’m not a fan of her shoe choice.
I would’ve preferred something a little more elegant than her platform heels. I’m also torn on her decision to wear her hair down, especially with that gorgeous bow detail on the back of her dress. I envision it looking amazing had she opted for a sleek up-do.
Regardless of those two minor details, she’s definitely an early BDOTW contender.

Gwyneth + Prada = Perfection.
The dress is magnificent and the colour suits her perfectly. I’m not crazy about her sky-high platform heels (in this I agree with you) but I don’t hate them, to be honest: they give a quirky (or may I say stripper
) touch to the look, which I like a lot!
agree! haha
Yes, but I’m so utterly over stripper shoes. I’ve never worn them myself but now is definitely the time for everyone else to stop wearing them too. She gets a pass this time, tho, because I just envisioned a shorter skirt (which they would have had to do when the shoes weren’t that high) and it might have messed up the proportions of the whole look.
The hair works for me. I like that she didn’t do what everyone else would have done…
I adore everything about this exquisite dress! Prada at its best. Agree with you about the hair and shoes too. I think Gwyneth really loves her hair long and down…..
Beaaautiful! So light and well composed. Agree on the shoes though – a lighter pair would have been better but it doesn’t change the magic of the dress, colours and fit.
Her makeup is brilliant!!!
This is just great! I was wondering what shoes she had under there and then you said they were platform pumps and then I shook my head but it doesn’t look too bad in the photo and it’s a good thing the dress covers it too! Hah! BDOTW Contender for sure. Gwyneth is going to be hard to outdo!
I just wish she had worn her hair up because I love love love the back but it’s still beautiful.Bdotw for sure.
The dress is very beautiful, it doesn’t even seem a Prada dress… I agree with Megan about the hair, and I don’t understand the shoes choice, she’s tall, why those heavy platforms?
The length of the dress prevented me from noticing the shoe choice; which is a good thing. They seem indeed heavy.
Also, a sleek up do would have gone amazingly with the bow detail at the back, but I also think it would have made the difference between the look being more Oscars and less Film Festival.
Overall she looks stunning.
Totally agree with you Ylenia. Could not have discribed the hair event appropriateness better. Kiss from beijing!
My first thought was that it was Valentino. Second thought, Gwyneth, why is your hair down?
I also thought it was Valentino. It looks like the dress the Dakota Fanning wore to a BAFTA event last year.
not too bothered by the shoes as you can’t really see them, she probably just wanted to look extra statuesque.
i think her hair looks great, despite it covering up the back/neck.
she is really so consistent! love her.
I, too, think that she wore those shoes to look more statuesque
The best she’s looked in a while. Love the light make-up.
I love the dress on her,it’s very lovely. But I would love it better if her hair was up,the bow detail around her neck would be more defined. Also the waist of the dress reminds me of the Valentino Couture Dakota Fanning wore to the BAFTA that was held in LA.
Stunning
Reminds me of Claire Danes?
I totally see what you mean
Love this! So pretty.
FC, it’s like we’ve died and gone to gown heaven!
I agree
This is how you do the red carpet. Such a moviestar look and shows GP’s sartorial star-power.
The side part in place of the updo is not surprising – since it is ‘very Gwyneth’ – an updo would have made the look a bit overdone. Her hair gives it a modern feel.
@Emi – lol, doesn’t even seem a Prada dress. Had to laugh because my first thought was “what, no stripes?”. This lovely gown has a fluidity and lightness of being that I do not associate with this brand (as does the coral she wore earlier).
The dress is beautiful, the colour is just perfect for her and her make-up is flawless. But with this beautiful bow in the back and those to die for earrings she really should wear her hair up.
she looks great. the platforms were chosen to give her that extra height- that extra oomph to carry off the dress? most outlets/photos will never show the platforms so its not an issue for me.
She looks amazing!
Loving the hair and makeup:) It goes perfectly with her dress:)
LOVING your blog:)
xo
Thank you xxx
The top half reminds me of Nicole Kidmans red dress with the similar bow at the back, even her side swept sleek hair is similar as well, hmmm
It does
the dress looks great from the back a bit plain at the front. but those earrings! wow i wish i had the money to afford those beauties.
This is a Valentino Couture modified
Its similar to Vakentino Couture, but Prada themselves confirmed this as their gown.
It’s not Valentino
This is absolute perfection. If she were to have worn her hair up the dress would have overwhelmed her completely and it would have felt inappropriate for the event. I also support her shoe choice. Had she opted for a simpler sandal she dress would have been altered, making the dress somewhat shorter and then the proportions may have been all off (think eva longoria)
I agree.
Stunning look – BDOTW contender.
breathtaking! i wish she had worn this dress to the oscar’s instead of that calvin klein dress!
It’s the mature version of the ballerina pink dress she wore when she was an ingenue. I would have preferred her hair up with this neckline and from others’ remarks, I’m glad I can’t see the shoes in these pics.
I like the dress best from the back – and think it would look best with her hair up in a french twist. She is very beautiful, that’s for sure!
LOL on the shoes. What WAS she thinking???
Whenever I see her in garments without sleeves, I always wonder if she’s going to have that sagging boob thing that she doesn’t seem to mind. (Remember that pink Calvin Klein dress she wore to receive her Oscar for Shakespeare in Love??) Even though she is small, she still needs support. Looks as if she might have finally figured that out!
Yes, the hair down detracts from the dress! It would have been better if she had put her hair up! Also, I noticed the boob thing, too. Don’t know if she’s quite figured it out yet, as the fit in the body still doesn’t seem quite right. Is it the creases? Would these creases have been minimized if the bodice was tailored a bit more? It seems it is pulling vertically from the neck to the breasline, then there is some horizontal access fabric creating bunching in the waist/hip area…
Yes, I agree with you on the bodice. That seems to be Gwyneth’s biggest challenge in fit for dresses. She is one person who should never go braless, it really detracts from her otherwise glamourous look.
I adore adore adore this dress, it is nice when someone goes out of the box at Film Festivals, like Mila Jovovich did at Cannes (also in Prada, no?). This reminds me so very much of Nicole Kidmans stunning red balenciaga at the academy awards, so I wish she had done liek her adn worn her hair up, but in a bun or updo rather than a ponytail, which may have not worked as well with such an elegant dress. I adore her earrings and I reallydo nto mind her shoes at all, becasue they go with the dress, and I think they were chosen for the reason that they make her taller, and one definitely needs as much height as one can get with this gown.
OMG its literally a knock-off of nicole kidman’s red-awesome-BALENCIAGA from the oscars !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
http://www.thefashionpolice.net/images/2008/01/16/nicole_kidman_the_oscars.jpg
that’s exactly what i thought when i first saw this.
NICOLE KIDMAN’S-OSCAR. i just read the comments to see if anyone noticed it.
Perfection head to toe. Also approrpriate for the occasion in that in Italy, it seems soft and feminine is preferred. I still think her Calvin Klein gown was perfect for the Oscars. And thanks to all these years living in Europe, Gwyn didn’t resort to silicon to increase her bust line.
I’m not very fond of this gown, it reminded me of a hideous blush pink big bow gown that Jessica Biel wore from the same brand a couple of years ago at the Oscars. It’s the first thing I thought about when I saw Gwyneth. She can do better I guess
And she does it again! This is why I love this woman! Definitely a BDotW contenteder already! <3
I’ll be the only person who doesn’t like this, I bet. But, for me, the giant bow wrapped around her neck looks like a dog collar. That plus big earrings plus hair down all looks too fussy. And I don’t like how the skirt puffs out from the drop waist.
Well that makes the two of us ! didn’t likt it too
love the dress & makeup, not in love with the accessories, especially the dyed to match look of the clutch.
This is my favorite look of hers in a long time. I agree about the hair, but oddly enough, it’s not a huge enough detractor for me to not love this look.
I definitely think blush pink is her color.
perfect
I don’t mind the shoes because I think they help Gwyneth pull this gown off. They give her extra height and stature.
The hair is a disappointment though. The only option was wearing it up :/
That being said, the dress is so pretty and that bow is just too cute.
I definitely think the hair should have been up,….but she still looks amazing!
At first I was questioning her hair too but then I think she was going for a more youthful and less formal look with the hair down. The hair up would have been too overtly done. I think she looks amazing. The best I’ve seen her since getting married. She looks so perfect that I don’t even mind the shoes.
Couldn’t agree more about the hair
I think she looks fantastic
don’t like the dress, color is nice but fabric and cut look cheap..
is it wierd that i hate this dress from the front and love it from the back?! seriously, so unexpected especially given that prada’s into paillates and metallics lately.
OMG Perfection!!
She’s so freaking gorgeous!
BDOTW!!!!
I love this look, Gwyneth Paltrow exudes effortless sophistication!
I think the Prada suits Gwyneth very well ( not that other fashion choices don’t suit her very well ).
FInally she wears something worth the praise she gets. Never got the fuss over her style, but here she’s chosen something that makes her look very soft and pretty but still stylish. And she even got me to like the addition of a bow, which I normally hate.
The look would have been perfect if she’d gone for a chignon instead for that long hair to the side.
