Madonna, who’s known to take herself too seriously, opted to have some fun tonight on the red carpet for the W.E. Venice Film Festival Premiere.
The singer/director wore a custom baby blue Vionnet gown.
Her red butterfly embellished dress was complemented by red glitter Miu Miu sunglasses and matching lippie.
Madonna styled her in victory rolls to evoke a 40s mood which is really working for her.
I’m pleasantly surprised by Madonna.
She hasn’t looked this good since the Met Gala.

love it. she look youthful and the gown is a lot of fun. love the hair and sunglasses. love the attitude
I think she looks beautiful. I love her hair and makeup. The dress is very playful and fun and she looks very happy. It is a look that makes me smile.
Ditto. I love the addition of the shades
I think she looks even better than she did at the Met Gal, clearly bleu is her colour, in fact the style of the dress is even similar to the Met Gala gown she wore. I’m not a big fan of the sunglasses, whether intended to pokefun or otherwise, but the look is great. It is super elegant, glamorous and modern, but still easy, effortless adn age appropriate, with just the right amount of fashion forward.
She looks beautiful
I am so pleasantly surprised too – she looks great. The dress is fashionable, suits her perfectly AND is tasteful. I don’t usually like her choices. And I bet there’s a portrait in one of her attics – just gotta be!
Wow, the Queen of Pop is back! AMAZING look!
She looks great, and I never say that. She could have lost the sunnies, the dress is ample, but fun all the same!
I agree. The glasses need to disappear but other that that she looks awesome.
Def. should’ve lost those shades. They take the playfulness of the dress to the level of silly.
Lovely dress! Baby blue and red clash in my style book, but they look surprisingly good here. I love this look from the head (beautiful hairdo) to the toes (even if I don’t know which shoes she actually wore). Thumbs up for her.
Here are the shoes http://celebrity-gossip.net/venice-film-festival-2011/photo/madonna-2 Gorgeous satin platform sandals!
Last comment (I swear): her glitter sunglasses are from the Noir collection by Miu Miu.
looks similar to the fall miu miu collection…
I agree! When I first saw the dress, Miu Miu popped into my head.
LOVE IT. BDOTW. Now for her to get cracking with that new album she’s making!!
I love this, every detail, even the glitter sunglasses which just really speak of Madonna’s sly personality. She looks gorgeous and I hope this makes BDOTW because it’s glamorous, chic and easy (the dress moves beautifully). I also agree that her hair looks wonderful with this.
Just beautiful. The strong eyes and red lips remind me of 80′s Madonna who I just adored!
Love this. I never say that about her choices, but today, I’m in love.
love this ;)
This is so great in so many ways. Modern with that subtle touch of retro 40′s glam (love the hair & makeup) classy and fun and she looks so wonderfully comfortable and happy. Very nice to see Madonna get it so right.
When I saw ‘Madonna in Vionnet’ I thought this should be good but I did not expect that. Perfection! And she looks like she’s having fun which she hasn’t done in a while. LOVE!
WOW madonna has never looked so fabulous. Love it.
Oh, perfection!
I was not a fan of the habit – this, however, is lovely and still fun
WOW!
All hail the queen!!!
Looking really fantastic!
very good looking! young love, good skin!
I knew that she was probably going to wear Vionnet, reading the Fb page of the brand, so I knew she was going to look stunning. This dress is gorgeous, so feminine, I love everything about this dress. And I totally agree with you, FC, last time we saw her looking so good was in Stella McCartney for the Met Gala.
great look, and i want those sunglases asap
I am shoked some of my friends told me she looked bad and funny !! I think she looks amazing !!!! And at last not in a black dress
Looking sensationally happy, love it! Photocell look was parent-teacher conference appropriate only, but this is fun! And those defined arms and straight back make gown look even better
Wow!!! What a beautiful look for Madonna. Soft and feminine but also a very powerful statement from a strong woman. Madonna looks best when she contrasts femininity against her edginess. Absolutely love this. And the sunglasses are fab.
Even though I don’t love the butterfly print, I do think she looks pretty good in this.
I didn’t think baby blue and bright red could look so good together. The shades are a bit much but this is Madonna we’re talking about.
I agree.
the dress would have looked so much better without those stupid butterflies on it.
Wow – I will say I am surprised. When I looked at the print, I thought it was Miu Miu …. but she looks great. And she looks like she is having fun!!
I am euphoric!! Madonna has done what few can – remind us that in the end, at its best, fashion begs an EMOTIONAL response. Madonna looks happy, confident and playful…and we are happy to witness! I rarely see such glowing, and I daresay affectionate, reviews. Thanks for not sweating the details that often plague the Responses (ie: hips, shoulders, height etc.) and celebrating the big picture!
Couldn’t agree more
wowsie!! from the small picture I guessed that I was looking at gwen stefani which means madonna looks amazing!! I am in love.
