Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: August 2011

Prabal Gurung had a very successful weekend as two of the most stylish celebs wore looks from his Fall and Resort collections.

Diane Kruger wore a Fall 2011 dress, whilst Zoe Saldana wore a Resort 2012 look to the Flaunt Magazine And Gypsy 05 Present “The Neo-Golden Age” event in LA.

Zoe loves to switch things up constantly, so she opted to make a few changes to her look.

The “Colombiana” actress opted to wear the pink sleeveless top over the white t-shirt with textured sleeves.

This adds a lot of pizzazz to her overall look and shows that she has true style as she made this look her own.

Her green skirt is also ruched to give it more texture.

You may remember that Amanda Seyfried also made a look from Prabal Gurung’s Resort 2012 collection her own, so this collection is truly versatile.

The host of this event switched her hairstyle between an updo and loose waves during the night, but either way worked beautifully with her look.

Black strappy sandals and an Alexander McQueen skull clasp clutch completed her look.

Julianne Moore was one of the guest speakers at ‘What’s On The Table’ event which was held at a Private Residence in New York City this weekend.

The actress, who tends to favour Lanvin and Tom Ford for her red carpet appearances, opted for a look from the Bottega Veneta Resort 2012 collection on this occasion.

Her nude, black and orange colour block dress was paired with ankle strap snake-skin wedges.

It’s great to see Julianne in something more colourful, but I don’t like nude underlay poking out from the under the hemline.

An updo, barely there make-up and Bvlgari jewels completed her look.

Diane Kruger dazzled again on the red carpet at the Tiffany & Co. dinner in Beverly Hills this weekend.

The forever stylish star wore a Prabal Gurung Fall 2011 dress.

There is a lot going on with the sequins, the feathers and the embroidered details on her silver and gold metallic dress, but as we’ve come to expect Diane pulls off the look with ease.

She opted to wear Giuseppe Zanotti suede and satin platform sandals plus a champagne coloured satin clutch and Tiffany & Co. jewels.

Hair and make-up are flawless despite the minimal effort.

David Walliams gathered his closest friends to celebrate his 40th birthday at Scott’s Restaurant in Mayfair London this weekend.

Louise Redknapp was one of the many stars who wished David a happy birthday at the seafood eatery.

The TV presenter wore a cherry red Alexander McQueen slit shoulder fin mini dress.

This dramatically tailored dress with slashed shoulders and a thigh-skimming skater skirt was paired with a black clutch and two-tone pumps.

Louise pulled her hair back into a tight ponytail and added some complementary gold and red stone earrings.

Maria Sharapova aka McQueen’s biggest fan after Anna Paquin, wore this dress earlier this summer.

Ashanti chose this pretty pink Notte by Marchesa dress to attend the launch of the “2BHAPPY” jewelry collection in New York back in November 2010.

The sleeveless fuchsia dress features a gorgeous ruffled trim draped along the body.

The singer accessorized with black diamond encrusted ankle-strap heels and “2BHAPPY” jewelry, including an oversized pink heart shaped cocktail ring and rows of bracelets in assorted metals.

Ashanti finished her look by styling her blonde-streaked hair in soft waves and wearing brown and gold smoky eye-shadow.

Kelly Rowland wore the same dress to attend the 2011 BET Awards back in June.

The singer paired her look with diamond hooped earrings and bracelets and nude cut-out sandals.

Kelly chose to wear her hair in a sleek up-do with side swept bangs and don light pink lipstick.

Whilst I prefer Ashanti’s hairstyle and shoes, Kelly is definitely getting my vote as I think the dress fits her body much better. I also like her diamond accessories better than Ashanti’s as they’re much more elegant and complement the dress better. Ashanti’s feel a little too costume-y for my liking.

A reader said that I failed when it came to the BDOTW poll this week.

What that person failed to realize is that August is a quiet month. It always has been for red carpet fashion as celebs are either on vacation or filming their next blockbuster.

Granted there were slim pickings this week, but you chose Chloe Moretz in Christopher Kane as your favourite.

The 14 year old continues to pull off some of the most sophisticated designs with uncanny grace and confidence.

I went for Rihanna in Antonio Berardi.

With so many black and white looks on the red carpet this week, I was relieved to see someone wear some colour on Friday.

It was the perfect end to a quiet week.
