Sidewalk Style: Sarah Jessica Parker In Chanel

As Carrie Bradshaw in ‘Sex And The City’, Sarah Jessica Parker made us fall head-over-heels in love with Manolo Blahnik.

Even though I’m sure Mr Blahnik would happy send SJP any of his gorgeous shoes for free, the actress was still spotted at a Manolo Blahnik boutique in Moscow this week.

She wasn’t there to shop, as the boutique put on an event in her honor where she met fans and signed the sole of her famous Manolo Blahnik ‘Something Blue’ satin pumps.

She looked beautiful wearing a white Chanel Resort 2012 dress with her wavy hair swept over one shoulder.

It’s hard not to love this two tiered strapless dress with the gorgeous ruby embellished details.

I’ll even give her white Manolo Blahnik pumps a pass on this occasion.

Would you pick this Chanel dress over her Prabal Gurung dress for BDOTW?

Check out some more pictures of SJP at this event over at

love this clean look ! she’s so pretty 🙂 and i think the pumps kinda pull the whole look together so…

she translated the look so well into the street style! i was stunned when i saw the photo!

  3. Jess August 31, 2011 at 20:25 #

Much prefer the Prabal Gurung, this is a bit blah.

Every time I see SJP, i like her less. Her choice of clothes always falls flat for me- I would drool at this look on Fan Bing Bing or Sonam Kapoor, but on her it just looks awkward to me. I don’t nkow why, but I just can’t get in the zone with her.

I will go see “I Don’t Know How She Does It” simply because SJP has looked so amazing on the promotional tour. Seriously, Cameron & Jen take note!! I adore the Chanel but the red Giambattista Valli Fall 2011 took my breath away.

Love the dress, hate, hate the shoes.

  7. Tatiana August 31, 2011 at 17:14 #

    Perfection! I vote Chanel!

Wow SJP is looking mighty fine these days. Love this look but I’d rather pick the Prabal Gurung for the BDOTW poll.

She looks fantastic!!! Seriously, something about this look makes her appear 10 years younger. It is SO flattering. She looks stunning. The Prabal look is typical Sarah JP, but this is above and beyond her normal awesomeness.

maybe the shoe choice could have been better? I don’t love or hate them.

This is a seriously tough call based on the dresses alone. Infatuated with the Chanel (summer, raspberry goodness) but seduced by the Gurung (a wonderful choice for an event in Russia with its cream/black lace/touch of red).

Vidhya’s suggestion above, raspberry instead of white shoes with the Chanel, helped me decide. The Gurung by technical knock out based on the shoe styling.

I personally prefer the prabal gurung, because while I prefer this dress, it just doesn’t fit as well as the model or sit as well on ehr as it does on the model, it just seems messy somehow, I wish she would pull it put just a little bit. However, I prefer her hair and makeup here, it is perfect, nto that it wasn’t amazing with the gurung, but her overall styling, again, does nothing for me here. The pinky ring should never have happened, and the white shoes are just awful, she could have picked silver, red, pink, grey, blue, pretty much anythig but white to make it better. Even the something bleu shoes would have been a prefered choice. The ‘Hangis’ pumps in fuschia, the silver ‘godifechac’s, the phobia sandals in nude(/rose gold), or even the silver netochka’s would have easily been better counterparts to this dress.

Wow, she looks gorgeous – even with the Venice Film Festival on, she should make the BDOTW list after putting in such a good week…….

  13. Kath August 31, 2011 at 14:48 #

Love this, but prefer the Prabal Gurung! SJP is the perfect antidote to some of the “safer” dressing stars out there. Love her!

  14. Th August 31, 2011 at 14:25 #

I would have both as BDOTW contenders…

  15. Matt R August 31, 2011 at 13:58 #

No lie, I pulled this up on my way to work and was in heaven. I thought she looked amazing in the Prabal Gurung, but this just looks so divine on her. This could easily be my BDOTW nominee unless someone during the Film Festival takes my breath away.

  16. Mario August 31, 2011 at 13:31 #

Oh my god, this is true Carrie Bradshaw in her 40s. Adore.

  17. aiyu August 31, 2011 at 13:24 #

    I vote for Chanel!

  18. Vidhya August 31, 2011 at 13:15 #

I would have loved deep raspberry shoes with this.. Still love it.. THIS is why Chanel will always be the brand that inspires awe and why most of us cry seeing Blake wearing Chanel 😛

  19. Naomi August 31, 2011 at 13:08 #

Two amazing looks in a row.
This look has to go to the BDOTW, for sure.

  20. allie August 31, 2011 at 13:06 #

  21. Ann August 31, 2011 at 13:03 #

Both dresses are gorgeous, but I vote Chanel

  22. jo August 31, 2011 at 12:49 #

I think that both of them should be in BDOTW poll. She looked beautiful in Prabal Gurung and in Chanel. It’s hard to choose which one is better.

      • maria August 31, 2011 at 16:05 #

i totally agree. The Prabal Gurung fit her like a second skin and had the awesome shoe choice.

  23. bec August 31, 2011 at 12:46 #

<3 much love for this look. So fresh and chic. BDOTW worthy for sure – I can't wait to see some Venice looks though!! xx

  24. Keeks August 31, 2011 at 12:44 #

I love this look but I think her Prabal Gurung dress was to die for! Both for BDOTW!

  25. Maria Claudia August 31, 2011 at 12:39 #

    Yes. Totally.

She looks fresh and bright.. I’m not a fan of white shoes.. But I love her hair, makeup and accessories.. I’d definitely choose this look over Prabal Gurung dress..

  26. Louisa August 31, 2011 at 12:36 #

Thank you for profiling this outfit, FC. Oh Chanel.. no wonder it is beautiful!

I would have all three ‘SJP in Moscow’ outfits up for BDOTW.

The difficult part will be choosing how to vote!

    • Fashion Critic August 31, 2011 at 12:40 #

      true, they are all worthy.

  27. robbie August 31, 2011 at 12:34 #

chanel all the way! the whole look is perfect even the white pumps.

    • Manja August 31, 2011 at 13:40 #
