Katie Holmes wore Proenza Schouler suede Snub-Nose ankle boots to the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. What a sight for sore eyes – it’s no surprise Katie won the “Worst Shoes Award” for the night.
Hannah summed it up best in the comment section: “There aren’t even words to describe the atrocity that is those shoes. They are awful, they look like something Pocahontas would have worn on a bad day.”
A great example of a celebrity who pulled off these boots over and over again is Olivia Palermo.
Shoes Katie Should Have Worn:
Nicholas Kirkwood’s platform loafer embellished with a kiltie fringe is one of his hottest designs from his fall collection. This shoe is trendy and appropriate for her Azzedine Alaïa dress.
Katie, let me introduce to you the basic and beautiful black patent pump. Whenever in doubt please grab these rather than those boots. Rupert Sanderson’s Troy pumps are shaped so wonderfully – a safe and much better shoe choice.
Tabitha Simmons Bailey suede heels work so well with Katie’s outfit. Julianne Moore recently wore these in leopard.
Azzedine Alaïa’s suede cutout heels are the most obvious shoe choice for Katie. She couldn’t have gone wrong with these and Alaïa’s heels are amazing.

i love shoeswap! I voted for the Nicholas Kirkwood, just because it’s a funky shoe style and would have gone great with the dress.
The Alaia ones are a bit safe but also cool.
I think the suede Alaia ones would have been the best choice or the simple Sanderson pumps.
It’s such a relief to imagine something different with this, thks Shoerazzi! I pick the Nicholas Kirkwoods…
would have loved if she had picked the nicholas kirkwood shoes but not in black though.
This is a great feature! Nice addition to the website.
I pick the Kirkwoods, just because they’re unexpected.
All 4 would’ve worked well but I’d go with Tabitha Simmons – interesting and would complement the print of the dress the most. I find the pattern of Alaia`s a bit too crisscrossing (wouldn`t be as complementary to the print but rather overwhelm it slightly).
Kirkwoods – my 2nd choice – interesting embellished detail, would work great without distracting from the dress.
I prefer the Tabitha Simmons shoes.
I absolutely loved the shoes she had on… Quit original….
I absolutely loved the shoes she had on quite original!!!
