Jennifer Aniston In Prada – Hand and Footprint Ceremony

Jennifer Aniston was honored with a Hand and Footprint Ceremony outside Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood earlier today.

My first reaction was “OMG.”

Can it be that Jennifer Aniston is not only wearing something colourful, but she also wearing prints too?

I cannot for the life of me ever remember Jen wearing a printed dress, but this Prada dress is a gorgeous print so kudos for Jen for finally taking that leap; if this is the first time.

Gucci nude peep-toes completed the look.

It’s….cute. Not to minimize your praise (I agree it is a departure that is to be applauded) but isn’t this a little young for her?

  2. Lily July 7, 2011 at 22:09 #

I had the same reaction! Gorgeous as always.

  3. Nat39 July 7, 2011 at 22:09 #

Way too young for her, too short, too girly.

    • Fashion Critic July 7, 2011 at 22:11 #

      Don’t scare it away :)

    • Lee Ann July 7, 2011 at 22:12 #

I was just going to write the exact same thing. I have the same print but in a different style which is more elegant

    • Emi July 7, 2011 at 22:25 #

I agree, plus I think her breasts looks huge.

      • pam July 8, 2011 at 15:50 #

Yes, now we know that it is indeed possible to make Jennifer look fat.

        • jkrau July 9, 2011 at 01:28 #

Ha! Yes thank you! Very true… sorry FC but I find this print unflattering and almost silly, and the fit makes it look like a smock… but at least Jen is trying something new!!!

    • Gigi July 7, 2011 at 22:53 #

Too young, too girly and I think it makes her look a bit heavy…

      • manja July 8, 2011 at 17:02 #

        +1

  4. kimi July 7, 2011 at 22:11 #

I’m glad she’s wearing something with patterns and colors, but the cut and the style of this dress seems very kiddish for her? But its a cute look overall. Hopefully….more prints and color in the future Jen…or maybe not. Here’s to hoping.

  5. Gloria Scott July 7, 2011 at 22:16 #

Aniston looks like she’s wearing one of those Depression-era child’s dress made from a flour sack.
Come to your senses, Fashion Critic.

    • Fashion Critic July 7, 2011 at 22:20 #

      Sorry?

      Come to my senses??

      Why???

      What did I do wrong????

My comment talks about colour and print.

Did I say I loved it? No.

Is it a huge departure from what we are used to seeing from her? Yes

So that is what I focused on.

      *shakes head in disbelief*

      • Ala July 7, 2011 at 22:43 #

I had the same reaction to this comment FC… I first read your post and agreed with you and noticed that you kept mum about your opinion (so as not to scare it away as you said :)

I know there are many avid readers of this blog that find your politeness when critiquing very refreshing (I’m definitely one of them!)… which keeps us coming back for more. One would expect the same politeness in the comments as well :S I applaud you FC for breaking the mold and being such a genuinely pleasant and interesting blogger! :)

        • Fashion Critic July 7, 2011 at 22:50 #

          Thanks Ala.

I glad that you got this post and appreciate this blog.

You are very kind to express that, it makes me not sweat the small stuff

          xxxxx

Could not agree more about how much I love this blog for such a reasoned and lovely voice, as it were. I’ve had it up to here with blogs that make fashion and the women (and men) wearing it into cruel and prejudiced jokes. RCFA is a blog I’ll happily admit to reading and steering my friends towards. (And people I don’t know at all, heh, when Jessica Alba asked on twitter what people’s favorite blogs were, I decided for once to reply and said this blog.)

          • Fashion Critic July 7, 2011 at 23:52 #

Thanks…that was so very kind of you.

            I hope she took a look :D

        • Linda July 8, 2011 at 00:44 #

          Agree with Ala 100 percent.

        • mikeijames July 8, 2011 at 02:31 #

i completely agree with ala, too! don’t change, FC!!

          • Fashion Critic July 8, 2011 at 02:45 #

            I won’t ;)

  6. Sharade July 7, 2011 at 22:17 #

It’s really a nice change but the shape of the dress seems weird in the higher part…and I am really tired of nude shoes,

    • Rebecca Z July 7, 2011 at 22:32 #

      ditto on the shoes!

  7. moja31 July 7, 2011 at 22:18 #

Was she trying to start some pregnancy rumors? If so, mission accomplished; this will be the cover of quite a few tabloids next week.

    • Lynxy July 7, 2011 at 23:46 #

I agree! I appreciate that she’s wearing a print, but I wish the dress was a little more sexy or sophisticated, rather than mumsy. The fit is so unflattering, she looks either pregnant or like she’s just had a baby. It’s a shame, it makes me wish she’d stick to black.

Also, I wish she’d do something different with her hair!

On the up side, at least she looks happy.

  8. vicky July 7, 2011 at 22:19 #

    I absolutely love this!!! :-)

  9. Luis July 7, 2011 at 22:19 #

    She looks pregnant!!

    • India-Jewel July 7, 2011 at 22:56 #

      Agreed. But pretty!

  10. jbfaria July 7, 2011 at 22:34 #

I totally get what FC loved in this dress, its not the most flatering dress, BUT the woman is finally wearing colour and paterns.

we complain all the time that she only wears black, than when shewears somthing different people trash because its not perfect, lets be easy guys.

at least its refreshing an a nice surprise, even I was shocked.

    • Fashion Critic July 7, 2011 at 22:59 #

exactly, we can’t have our cake and eat it too ;)

      • artemis July 8, 2011 at 00:41 #

Agreed! She can’t please us at once..Great, colorful classy print dress with an amazing fit and great different hair! That is too much to expct..;-)

  11. Paddy M July 7, 2011 at 22:36 #

For all that this dress represents a huge departure from Jennifer, she’s also back to the quintessential ‘Rachel’ bob, she’s wearing nude peep-toes which make my skin crawl, and the length of the dress and fit around the bust are deeply unflattering on her.

However, if this is a step in the right direction, as you say FC, then I’m looking forward to what happens next…

  12. Marybeth July 7, 2011 at 22:38 #

Yes, this would have been soooo much better in a cleaner line and more tailored fit, but please, don’t discourage her!!! ;)

    • Fashion Critic July 7, 2011 at 22:52 #

      Well said x

  13. robbie July 7, 2011 at 22:41 #

she looks gorgeous. the print is amazing. the dress itself does have a slight “the sound of music” vibe to it.

  14. T. July 7, 2011 at 22:42 #

Like the idea of the dress, but it’s not flattering!

  15. Maria July 7, 2011 at 22:52 #

Why everybody have to love it or hate it? fashion is a matter of taste is not a dictatorship, you can love it if you want, I don’t like prints and I don’t have to. In fact I don’t think Jennifer Aniston is worry about what people say about her clothes or her hair.

  16. Matt R July 7, 2011 at 22:59 #

I am going to echo FC’s and a couple others sentiments when I say….. calm down people. I thought she looked great, and it was a great departure, but I mean if you compare this to her Valentino Couture, she looked better then. While I understand all are entitled to opinions, people quickly jump to conclusions…..

    Just saying…

  17. Gloria Scott July 7, 2011 at 23:21 #

So sorry FC; didn’t mean to be rude or mean. I took my annoyance at Aniston out on you. I just don’t think she has done anything to deserve your attention or concern about scaring her away from color, except make a career out of being cute. BUT, I do sincerely apologize for the tone of my comment. I’m one of your fans and not known for rudeness,

    • Fashion Critic July 7, 2011 at 23:52 #

Not to worry. Thanks for coming back to clear things up because I was really confused.

  18. tatiana July 7, 2011 at 23:38 #

Baby steps, baby steps is all we are saying Jen. Little by little and you will get better. Color is a good start.

  19. gabis July 7, 2011 at 23:58 #

This is such a big EVENT for Jennifer’s style/wardrobe that I even feel kinda bad for having to criticize it. Kudos for the printed dress, but it’s so unflattering and short that it looks terribly weird. Plus barely no accessories, the excessively light makeup and her daily hair style makes this a perfect outfit for a run to the grocery store.. not a ceremony in which you are being honored…

  20. anna July 8, 2011 at 00:46 #

    she looks AMAZING!
i’m feeling a young energy coming from her in this photo!
she does look young, but it’s not like it’s the oscar party or the met ball…so, congrats jen!

  21. Linda July 8, 2011 at 00:46 #

It is a huge step in the right direction.

  22. Marvel July 8, 2011 at 01:23 #

I like the print and I kinda like the look on her. I know people dont like it on her (but appreciate its something different) but I do like the whole look

  23. Sharon July 8, 2011 at 01:33 #

Maybe this is the first step toward her approaching one year break from acting. I think she looks fine and the print is wonderfully summery.

  24. rebecca o July 8, 2011 at 02:26 #

It’s a nice dress, but I wish the top wasn’t so billowy.

    • mol July 8, 2011 at 03:33 #

Yes, the billowy top part is the let down…..

  25. sasha July 8, 2011 at 04:01 #

we thought it was Elle Fanning and realized it was long in the tooth Aniston.

  26. Vidhya July 8, 2011 at 04:41 #

Ahem.. rem we thought we shudnt feature her in BDOTW til she wears something colourful?? I didnt expect it so soon.. and i cant bring myself to say this is worth BDTOW :( ..
P.S : seems her stylist is reading this blog :D

  27. roxana July 8, 2011 at 07:05 #

new lover, new clothes! great change!

    • Fashion Critic July 8, 2011 at 07:31 #

      Ditto

  28. karen July 8, 2011 at 07:27 #

I think its a cute dress but i’m not sure it was appropriate for Jen on her big day nor was it age appropriate for the occasion. I think it would have been better if she was wearing this dress to a private beach party or something casual like that. She was already borderlining on age appropriateness with that cutesy flirty black Nina Ricci dress the other day, but since it was black, it was still okay.

  29. Joy July 8, 2011 at 08:53 #

With Jenn, I’ve always believed if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. I hate this dress on her. I know you want her to wear colors but I think she looks silly. I much prefer her in a sexy neutral dress. Sorry.

  30. D July 8, 2011 at 09:05 #

    preg???

  31. Alina July 8, 2011 at 09:40 #

Well…I think she can wear prints and colours but ones that are more appropriate for her age.

  32. 80nine July 8, 2011 at 12:18 #

she wore a balenciaga print dress a few years ago, i think i saw it on this site FC xx

    • 80nine July 8, 2011 at 12:19 #

oh and as much as i like this new direction, she doesn’t look good and a tad preggers

  33. jones19 July 8, 2011 at 12:20 #

I’m so happy she’s wearing color and print, I just wish this cut wouldn’t make her look so top heavy.

  34. Luci July 8, 2011 at 14:22 #

glad that she tries something different, but I think this dress is i little bit ill fitting on the top part, specially considering she has a supermodel figure

  35. Raquel July 8, 2011 at 17:35 #

    I don’t think it’s kiddish, I think it’s ill-fitting. But it’a achnage and let’s see what will happen next…

  36. Hannah July 8, 2011 at 18:56 #

I just cannot love it, becuase the hair kills it dead. It looks really dry, there are clear roots, the way it is styled so it basically circles her face is hideously unflattering, the colour is just not very appealing, it is ery Amanda Bynes, I wish she would dye it darker, or have it look less obviously highlighted.

  37. liv July 8, 2011 at 20:15 #

pauline ducruet (princess stephanie’s daughter) wore the same dress to albert & charlene’s civil ceremony

  38. lilili July 8, 2011 at 22:13 #

She looks kind of big… and I do not like the print, it is indeed childish and gives me this sort of knitted toghetter blanket failure feeling…
