Stéphane Rolland’s Fall 2011 Couture collection was inspired by CAOSHU, a style of Chinese ancestral calligraphy.
The designer is a true artist as the explosive collection took everyone’s breath away which he does season after season as he continues to raise the bar.
We don’t see enough of his highly-dramatic gowns on the red carpet, but seeing them up close its probably because they are more like sculptures which belong in a museum.
The gowns, cocktails dresses and jumpsuits ranged from having billowing capes, hip-high splits; gold tubes or black chop-sticks stacked into an hourglass shape, oversized belts and oversized bows.

The finale gown was most spectacular. The white kimono knit gown with samurai sleeves was made of thick white yarn into intricate mosaic patterns with crystal details embroidered into the yarn. The model looked like she was walking up a steep hill as she struggled to carry the weight of the gown.
Who are Stéphane Rolland clients?
With the Arabic and Russian show notes perched on seats in the front row, I think that answers the question.
Front Row: Olivia Palermo and Carmen Dell’Orefice
Favourites: mermaid gown with an oversized metal and satin bow on the back and yellow gown with black satin detail cascading down the back.
Who I Would Like To See Wearing This Collection: Angelina Jolie, Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, Tilda Swinton, Eva Green and Zoe Saldana
