Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William ended their first full day in Ottawa, Canada on Friday night with an evening of National Canada Day celebrations.
They were treated to music on Parliament Hill. They stayed for just over 30 minutes with eight members of their entourage before heading to the foreign office to watch fireworks.
Catherine wore a dress by her favourite brand, Issa.
The long-sleeved purple Issa jersey dress was accented with the diamond maple leaf brooch she had worn earlier in the day.
For those of you who’ve been waiting for Kate to do something different with her hair you got your wish, as she opted for a swept back chignon for a refreshing change.
She added navy Prada pumps and an Anya Hindmarch clutch to complete her look.
This dress is a beautiful colour on her, yet I find myself bored by the whole look.

the dress is nice, but it dosnt seem to fit her very well! she looks anorexic!
give her break!!!!!
She looks SO elegant. LOVE it!
She looks frightfully thin in that outfit….
Am i the only one that thinks that she is TOO THIN?:S, she really looks bad… even at her wedding, she looked so so thin but yes gorgeous, but… in this picture, damn she looks anorexic, so damn THIN.
Please can we keep this fashion related.
her man likes her like that.
She really should put some weight on. She has nothing to fill that dress with and it looks bad, really bad.
But…it is a great colour for her and I think she should wear her hair like this more often.
PLEASE CAN I ASK THAT YOU KEEP THE TOPIC FASHION RELATED.
Why is everyone going on about her weight? She looks lovely, the dress is great. What’s more important is she looks happy.
Her style IS boring to me. The only time something she wore excited was on her wedding day tbh lol.
beautiful woman god bless you xxxxx I love you Kate xxxx

…he soo happy and bubbling ….nice to see this wonderful couple xxxxx
I love the dress …had the same like 20yrs back
ps FC you weren’t born yet xxxx
William took his mother gens
I was born…xxx
The dress seems to be hanging off her.. Boring.. Next..
Well, at least it is a beautiful color and her hair is lovely. In addition to a better fit, she would benefit from more interesting shoes.
i think everything she wears would be prettier on her if she gained 20pounds.
My problem with her is that I can´t really fault her, she wears pretty and event appropriate clothes, and like on this occasion the colour is magnificent on her, and yet I agree that it is kind of meh anyway… And I don´t quite know why… Maybe she should shake things up a bit and wear full flowery skirt for once and opt for some more interesting shoes… All of the Canada looks feel so conservative and boring for such a young princess.. If you look at other princesses around the world (e.g. Maxima of Holland, Mary of Denmark, Mathilde of Belgium) they´re much more bold and have fun with fashion.
Yes, I’m bored too, pretty dress pretty girl but nothing exciting about it
Yes I’m always bored too, I hardly comment when I see a post of her
I think she is being a little too safe. I realise it is her first tour so close to the wedding and perhaps she doesn’t want to come off like a kid in a sweet shop grabbing for amazing clothes, but she needs to find a balance between simplicity and that x factor that this outfit and most of her others so far are missing. The best thing so far has been her cute maple leap hat the other day, otherwise the dress was very ordinary.
My middle aged mother loves all her dresses… that’s when you know.
Kate is only 29 but she dresses like an old lady. From the dress choices, to the shoe choices, to the boooring clutches.. it’s all so blah.
It’s fine to want to dress conservatively on her first trip as a Royal, but if she’s going to be choosing boring dresses, she could at LEAST pair them with awesome shoes and accessories.
3 words for her: new stylist ASAP.
This…is probably actually my favorite look ever of hers just for the color.
I just think this dress doesn’t fit her well, and it is pretty conservative. It would be nice to see her have a little more fashion fun, but she just may not be that type.
love the look but my only little annoyance is the fit, it looks quite baggy if it was a little more fitted it would be perfect.
she has to be somewhat conservative and it’s her first tour.
we can always wish that some people look more interesting but some people are sartorially bland. it is what it is.
oh–i do think her neckline should be higher. when you don’t have much of a decolletage, i don’t think a low v is very flattering.
She could benefit from some more interesting shoes and accessories. However, if Queen E. were my mother-in-law, I’d be erring on the side of caution too. She doesn’t want to risk looking too trendy I guess.
Correction – grandmother-in-law.
I really think she should stop wearing off-the-rack dresses and start getting custom ones.
focus on two or three designers till she refines her style.
do something with that hair – it’s too chaotic and unstylish for a princess
and start to wear serious heels… i mean she should make the effort of wearing 4 inches, less is not dressy at all
and tone down the fake tan!
congrats on this super blog FC!!!
I like the dress but GOD, I wish she’d wear some sky scraper heels. I do NOT understand her attachment to these awful, practically kitten heeled, pumps she insists on wearing. Every single look would be improved extensively with a pair of Louboutins or similar. The only shoes of hers that I’ve liked were the LK Bennet’s that she wore to the gala with her Jenny Packham gown.
