Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge finally broke her three-peat navy run to wear a white Reiss dress to the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Ottawa Canada for the Citizenship Ceremony.
She followed Royal tradition – as expected – by wearing red and white as worn by the Queen, Fergie and other Royals whilst visiting Canada.
The white dress with a ruffle trim and tulip skirt was teamed with a beautiful red Lock and Co maple leaf fascinator and an Anya Hindmarch fan clutch.
The look was teamed with ruby red Hobbs pumps.
The BBC are reporting that she is also wearing the Queen’s maple leaf broach, which was worn by the then Princess Elizabeth on her first visit to Canada in 1951.
This is her second best look following her wedding day.
Her dress is available to purchase from Reiss US and Reiss UK

Stunning!
Now THIS IS FASHION!
Standing ovation! Thank you for rising to the occasion.
agreed
Yes, amazing…
I was just reviewing this post again and she looks AMAZING in red and white. And as a happy Canadian who adores my country I LOVE the maple leaves in her beautiful hat!
Personally I think her Jenny Packham look is her second best, but that was about the dress – this one is about the accessories, and they are great accessories indeed.
Whilst I somewhat agree. I think her accessories are perfection in this case. This could’ve been uber boring.
Another repeat, this time from her engagement photos, but updated with pin, shoes, hat, clutch to suit the occasion. Love it! My only beef is the necklace, which clashes with that asymmetrical neckline, which is already a little funky in the way it lays – or, actually, doesn’t (where the heckline hits the ruffle).
I agree, don’t love the necklace, but that pales in comparison to the rest of this outfit. Just gorgeous. I LOVE that dress!
+1 for the necklace
I’ve decided that the necklace must have some significance to her that isn’t obvious to us, because I am absolutely positive that her eye is better than this. It is fairly unobtrusive, just not up to her usual no-misstep standard.
Very nice. Love how its also the Canada flag colours.
Ive always loved red and white together.
I love that there are maple leaves in the fascinator! I want one.
absolutely gorgeous love the white and red together. also nice to see she has more shoes than just black and nude.
Absolutely perfect! This is really marvelous.
I love this. Amazing.
Perfect from top to bottom!
BDOTW please?
kudos to kate for following another royal tradition with the maple leaf on the fascinator and with the brooch, here’s camilla wearing it:

It’s a step up interest wise, though it doesn’t't hold a candle to some of the truly goofy goodness past British royals have sported in the name of canada themed wares.
I can’t decide whether I love or hate this look. The dress is gorgeous, the pumps, but I hate the hat and its way too bright color and i’m also not a fan of the fact that they match the pumps…
In her defense – it is Canada Day, and the red, white, and maple leaf motif is really part of what is demanded for this particular occasion, which is after all an official state visit, and her first. Not necessarily a look that she would put together for a day at the races with nothing at stake. Since the dress is solid white, she really did have to play up the red in her accessory pieces. I love the placement of the maple leaves on the hat.
The only thing I like about this getup is 1) the pin, and 2) the shoes. The hat is ridiculous, the purse too casual with the other components, and quite frankly this dress is just too fussy for her current style. Time for her to retire it!
She looks outstanding !
WOW! Stunning! My favourite part of the look is that clutch! I so want it!!! <3
Love it!…now this is more like it….
very cute… maple leaf hat, maple leaf brooch. White with red accessories is an outdated combo but considering the occasion.. its quite acceptble.since its a predictable look, its not blowing me away.
elegance personified!
some of the media’s saying that the hat’s a Sylvia Fletcher for Lock & Co., ? am sure u knw best FC x
thanks you’re right x
I LOVE this. So elegant. Just hate the stupid hats they keep wearing. It’s not fashionable.
As others have noted it is Canada Day meaning red and white is the uniform for all us Canadians today. Kate looks awesome
I know they’re supposed to wear red and white only, but this outfit is kina matchy-matchy if you ask me
I’d rather she wore other kind of red shoes, open shoes or something so it wouldn’t come across as matchy-matchy as it does now
Silly Femme, she doesn’t OWN open shoes. I suspect she may not have toes!
Would her go-to nude pumps have made this more appealing? Maybe. Would have picked up the nude tone on the clutch – but would diminish the wave the flag for Canada impact.
LOL, about the go-to nude pumps: that was exactly what I expected as well as the other option she would go for!
Not only beautiful but completely appropriate to the occasion, as others have noted – and that’s a tough balance to hit so bravo Catherine!
She’s picture perfect
I love it! And I think she represented Canada’s colors well
NO MORE NAVY!! Can we hope?
Yes her best tour look yet but I find it underwhelming it’s just another white dress and I feel she was obliged to wear the red accessories. You could find this look on ladies day at any horse race.Very average.
like the dress but hate the hat, grandma shoes, & clutch..
Its nice, no its average…. again. I wish she would take some risks like Michelle Obama and wear some different designers and more colors, she always wears either white, navy, or black and sticks with the same designers, except for that beautiful Jenny Packham which got her BDOTW! But this just doesnt do it for a future queen!
I like everything except the necklace and the matching shoes. The fan-bag is really cute, but, as I wrote before matching the shoes with the bag is terrible (except when they’re black).
I m sorry make so one royal and suddenly they are stunning. Dress is nice nothing more. The hat just stupid
I agree.
I love this look and all, but the lack of Hummingbird cupcakes in my life just makes me instantly think of a red velvet cupcake with the red and white and all.
But I still do love the look seeing them as just clothes.
I find this look a little fussy and really don’t like the shoes!
The more I know from Kate the more I like her! She has charisma and that’s great for a princess (even if she doesn’t hold the tittle)
I love that she does not care about expensive clothes but still manages to look pretty in every occasion.
@ FC – The shoes are from Hobbs – Albini Square Cut Court is the model name – They are sold out online in the red colour (obviously) but may be available in stores. They are reduced from £135 to £54.
Thanks…I’ll update
What’s the weather like where they are? The dress seems a little heavy for summertime; I think i would be in love with it if it had shorter sleeves or lighter material. (Or does she have to wear business-like dresses like this one? I know nothing about royal etiquette.)
The accessories are SO cute. They’re fun and fit the day without being too costume-y.
Yes yes yes! Finally an outfit to get excited about! Being canadian, I LOVE that she wore our national colors. And omg the fascinator was AMAZING!! Some of you think it looked ridiculous but seriously red maple leaves are standard on the first of July in Canada – so no, she didnt look the least bit ridiculous. She wore our national motif with such style and flair. Gorgeous.
Absolutely beautiful. I love this look so much, she looks lovely!
Awesome.. she looks stunning and stylish
Classy.
I love this look but I also love her Erdem Resort look. A stylish dress which looked impeccable.
It’s perfection. So elegant
She can pull off anything and look STUNNING. she could wear penguin costume and look amazing
