Last week Salma Hayek was spotted wearing a pair of Balenciaga Spring 2010 booties.
Your comments ranged from “Makes her bottom half look like horse legs,” to “they are the devil’s shoes,” to “Stumpifying.”
She clearly doesn’t read this blog, because she stepped out in a second pair this weekend.
The striped colour-block Balenciaga heels were again teamed with her favourite Bottega Veneta Brick Cervo Bag and a khaki belted dress.
Whilst I love the colour co-ordination, I agree that the booties aren’t really doing her many favours.

Why?
WHY???
Well, I agree they’re not doing her any favours, but oddly enough, somehow the look is growing on me…anyone else agree?
Yeah this look is growing on me like a fungus or a tumor and I want it to go away!
Sure, as long as I picture her being 7 ft tall.
lol
Uhh….guess not. LOL at fungus and tumor.
I find them unique and fun…. a bit weird
Wonder how comfortable they are?
Like the gray combo better
I may have called these the devil’s shoes on first glance, and have not changed my opinion. How weird is it too have a thick leathery wintry looking boot and then have your toes exposed?
It’s awesome to know that even beautiful and wealthy people can make design mistakes… over and over again!
I like Salma, I really do, but ever since she married Pinnault, and now has access to any and all designer labels within his company’s portfolio, she seems to wear the clothes/shoes just because she can, not because they really fit her sense of style.
And it shows, because the clothes/shoes are wearing her, and not the other way around.
Yeah, I hope she is getting some good perks at home to be pushing these ugly things.
Tell you what – I’m 5′ 10″ and I want these bad. Picturing them over skinny jeans. On her, I think the skirt is a bit too long to wear with them – if the skirt were shorter or, yes, she were taller, they’d look better.
Salma stop wearing this ugly shoes please.
These and the shoes she wore last week are the ugliest, most unflattering shoes I have ever seen! WHY?!
I think she’d look better wearing the bag on her feet and carrying the shoes.
well this pair is nicer than the other pair, but really they are not good for short legs, keep them for the models. but i am warming to this pair just the heel is such an ugly shape.
I still don’t like the shoes on her, but I find that I like this “look” on her better than the last one. I think that it’s because the dress is simple. With the blue one, there was too much going on with the draping which didn’t do her figure any favors.
This outfit, I like.
I actually groaned out loud when I saw this picture. With almost any other shoe it would be a chic, utilitarian day look. Sigh.
i don’t have a problem with the shoes on their own, but she’s not wearing them the way we saw them on runway or the way i think the girls on the street would normally wear them. these booties would find themselves perfect with the standard flowy top and dark denim leggings.
is there really any footwear choice that’d rescue a khaki dress?
From some odd reason they look… manly to me.
