Maria Sharapova In Alexander McQueen – WTA Tour Pre-Wimbledon Party

Russian tennis ace Maria Sharapova was flying the flag for British fashion at the WTA Tour Pre-Wimbledon Party, which was held at The Roof Gardens in London last night.

That’s because she opted to wear head-to-toe Alexander McQueen & Burberry Prorsum.

Her cherry red Alexander McQueen slit shoulder fin mini dress was paired with a black satin McQueen gold hardware clutch and black Burberry Prorsum booties.

Maria completed her look with Lara Bohinc jewels which included a Tatijana Choker.

I love the addition of the choker to the dress.

I wouldn’t have added the booties, but she looks good in them.

The only thing I would remove is the cuff as it feels like one item to many for this look.

Despite not being a fan of mixing metals, Maria gets a pass on this occasion as the silver ring is her engagement ring.

The Wimbledon championship (celebrating its 125th anniversary) kicks off on Monday June 20th, so you know what that means?

2 weeks of non-stop rain.

I like the look a lot, but I think she went OTT with accessories… I love the choker, but the earings and the cuff are too much for my liking…

      I agree.

same here. But the dress looks spectacular on her so i give her a pass on the jewelry, especially as it suits the dress, even if it’s too much pieces.

Ditto. But overall she looks good.

Agree. I wish she’d taken the earrings off, then I’d be 100 percent on board.

      Well, except for the booties.

I thought it was Blake Lively at first! I agree with the cuff being too much but i also dont like the necklace. Not that shes wearing a necklace, just that i dont like that particular one.

      +1
I thought it was Blake :-)
Nice dress…nice and soft faced woman
too much the necklace which spoils and blocks the view towards the dress shoulders cut!(which is really nice to me)
      great legs!

Well, I actually liked the bracelet as it is discreet and perfectly matches the necklace. The problem to me are the earrings… They’re beautiful, alone, but with the necklace, I just feel it’s way too much information… she should have gone with a smaller, more discreet pair of earrings… But the dress is gorgeous and overall she looks amazing!

The dress actually looked better with the choker. It was the cuff that was too much. Still, there’s a Best Dressed in there somewhere.

  5. Mahima June 17, 2011 at 13:02 #

    I actually love it.

    Elegant

Perhaps a bit too much jewelry but oh my, she looks gorgeous…

Ugh to the shoes–why do people do this–mindless adherence to a trend–and this one is old. Otherwise, she looks great–I’d lose the earrings and keep the cuff

And FC you are so right about the rain–your comment made me laugh!

I don’t mins all the jewelry she looks fab.

The red AM dress looks perfect on her. Addition of the choker + cuff gets another plus from me. The earrings dont go well with the choker/cuff; neither with the closed neck of the dress. she should have complemented the look with an earring with similar pattern as on the choker or just a simple hoop ring! the clutch also feels a little too dramatic for the look!

I like… it looks like she’s channeling Blake Lively here.

The choker or the earrings, not both. Maybe a little darker lipstick. I know she is used to wearing tennis skirts, but that dress looks a little too short to me.

I love this dress, really. The detail of the arm hole… I like it so much! But I think she has too much jewelry. I like L. Bohinc’s jewels, but those earrings are quite nonsense with the necklace and the cuff.

Most of the tennis players tend to wear boot style shoes that cover the ankles because of the tan line marks. You see some of the other ones with strappy shoes on and they look weird.
