Beyonce Knowles For W Magazine July 2011

Beyonce Knowles sizzles on the cover of the July 2011 edition of W Magazine wearing a Louis Vuitton top and hat with a Givenchy silk satin bra which was captured by Patrick Demarchelier.

The rest of her editorial sees her wearing Marc Jacobs, Dolce & Gabbana, Louis Vuitton and Gucci Fall 2011 pieces.

In her interview she shares why she named her new album, “4” plus her vision and inspiration for the tracks.

You can read the whole “Fierce, Fearless, Female” interview at

Here are some extracts:

On deciding on the feel of a video as she sings a song: “When I sing a song, I definitely have the image for the video in my mind. I kind of hear the choreography that will be in the video, and I can see how I’ll look, even before anyone – the record company, the director – has heard the song.”

On her new album titled 4: “The fans have named the album 4. And four is my favorite number. It’s an important number in my life: the date of my birthday, my mom’s birthday, my husband’s birthday, the day I got married. Barack Obama is the 44th president, and I performed ‘At Last’ by Etta James at his inauguration.”

On wanting to move out of her comfort zone on 4: “I wanted this record to come from a raw place. Playing Etta James in the movie Cadillac Records really changed me. It was a darker character, and I realized that if anything is too comfortable, I want to run from it. It’s no fun being safe.”

Beautiful natural gorgeous it is Mrs Beyonce 🙂

  • Valeria

she has such an adorable bum, strong beautiful legs and they just photoshopped it all away. Shame

  • lily

I don’t understand why pictures of an already gorgeous woman and shot by Patrick Demarchelier need so many photoshop.. it’s ridiculous.. love the Givenchy ensembles though..

    • Clover

Agreed. They’ve taken most of her legs away! We love her how she is.

  • LizLemooooon

Beyonce looks fabulous here! The ones were they lightened her eyebrows are a bit weird but otherwise a great shoot full of some amazing fashion. Love that her promo has officially kicked off.

  • herb tea

    The photoshop is hilarious.

  • Cheryl Wong

She looks horrible, a little desperate almost. The Dolce & Gabbana makeup made her look like a drag queen and I almost didn’t recognize her. There had to be some sort of animation in her expression. She’s letting the clothes wear her. I don’t mind photoshop now and then, just to touch up the little details but this is going overboard. Beyonce always feels like she’s trying too hard to look fierce and that pout seems like the only thing in her arsenal that she uses to look that way.

  • Elizabeth

I totally agree with all the comments about photoshop!! She looks like a drag queen in nearly all the photos!

  • Megan

Who is the woman in the 5th shot?!?!?

    • cara

omg your right! when i first scrolled through i was only taking notice of her outfits but then i read all the comments about the photoshopping and thought i should take a closer look.

the 5th photo is just weird. seriously if i didnt know this was beyonce i would think it was some random model

in the last photo she looks like a drag queen!

  • Alfie

Everything is OTT which is I’m sure was what they were going for, I love it!

  • JJovana

I agree with everyone above, this is photoshop overload. She doesnt look human.

  • AJoanna

    Pretty woman+ridiculous photoshop= MEH.
Just let the women shine, editors.

  • Tatiana

She doesn’t even look like a real woman here, the Photoshop is waaaay too exaggerated, and makes the pictures (and her I might add) look too plastic and weird :S

  • Matt

These can’t be considered photography if they rely on photoshop to do 80% of the work, She is so unrecognizable in these images

  • Cross

Beyonce and Givenchy are perfect together

  • Kath

The photo-shop is RIDICULOUS!! I do love the styling though – but she is utterly unrecognizable in the second half of the photos.

    • You are right, but I think it’s also because of the eyebrows, they covered them in some photos, the ones where I didn’t recognized her at all!

    • mol

I agree…….it’s distracting the way they have gone overboard, it becomes cartoonish instead of having a sexy pulsating vibe….sometimes I’m ok with a certain amount of photoshop in order to gain an aesthetic goal but here, it’s almost insulting….

  • dee

I only like the cover and the LV photo.

  • heather

I’m so sick of Photoshop! The photos and colours are beautiful, but it’s so distracting knowing that isn’t her real body we’re seeing. She’s got a gorgeous figure – why can’t the magazines celebrate that, instead of making her look half her size?

    • NY

      So true.

    • dee

I know her legs look different.

      • Rebecca Z

        and her face
