Here are the rest of the looks from the red carpet at the 2011 Tony Awards, which was held at the Beacon Theatre in New York City last night.
Sutton Foster: The actress took home a Tony Award for ‘Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical’ for ‘Anything Goes’. She opted for an olive strip chiffon strapless Michael Kors gown. Her look was accessorized with Michael Kors gold stiletto sandals with snake chain detail and a bronze python barrel clutch. Fred Leighton jewels an updo completed her look.
Ellen Barkin: The actress was also an award winner, taking home a Tony Award for ‘Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play’ for ‘The Normal Heart’. She is a L’Wren Scott devotee. She nearly always wears classic dresses by the designer, so it’s no surprise to see her wearing a custom look on this special occasion. Her L’Wren Scott black gown with a Chantilly lace overlay was paired with black lace L’Wren Scott shoes and a vintage Cartier clutch.
Lily Rabe: Emerald earrings were added to her Prabal Gurung Spring 2011 gown. Her ivory silk crepe chiffon backless gown with appliqué patched sleeves and a thigh-high split was a bold fashion forward look for this award ceremony. Sergio Rossi heels completed her look.
Vanessa Redgrave: The legendary actress opted for a black and silver Donna Karan Resort 2011 jacket with wide leg Donna Karan black pants and satin pumps.
Edie Falco: The actress opted for a simple yet affective Romona Keveza one shoulder midnight blue gown. Her gown was accented with a silver Swarovski crystal belt plus she added a Diane von Furstenberg metallic silver Lytton clutch to complete her look.
Brooke Shields: This J. Mendel dress does nothing for Brooke. Unfortunately it looks more like a bath towel than a gown. Even her accessories don’t help lift the look.
Viola Davis: I wish the actress had opted for more interesting accessories for her magenta gown. The colour is not the issue, more the styles which feel like last minute panic choices. Jack Vartanian jewels completed her look.
Marg Helgenberger: The actress added a black Bottega Veneta clutch to her black bustier halter gown. Even without trying she always oozes sex appeal.
Laura Benanti: I adore the colour of this Notte by Marchesa silk draped gown. The embellished detail allows her to go light on the jewels.
Judith Light: With all that gold embellishment on her Alexander McQueen dress, Judith really should’ve tamed the mane. The hair is competing with her dress. She should’ve pulled her hair back into a chic updo. I do however love her Judith Leiber ‘Mosaic’ clutch.
Anika Noni Rose: Black shoes with a white dress has always been a no no in my book.
Christie Brinkley: If it weren’t for the caption I would’ve never recognised legendary supermodel Christie Brinkley. She wore a cobalt blue silk strapless Zuhair Murad gown with a crystal beaded corset insert and bow bodice. Unfortunately she looks like she just entered the stage at beauty pageant for Miss Tackyville, USA. Something about the pose, the hair and OTT jewels turns me right off.

brooke, boring.
viola, lovely colour but that dress looks so uncomfortable.
marg, sexy very old hollywood.
laura, its lovely but a little more holiday look than red carpet look.
judith, love her but the whole look is a mess.
anika, blah.
christie, REAL LIFE BARBIE DOLL! not a good thing. to think she is classed as one of the best supermodels in the world yet she is posing and acting like some tacky reality tv star.
judith light´s dres is from alexander mcqueen.
the hair is just horrible :/
thanks…that one was nagging me…felt familar
Judith looks like she is the lead in La Cage Aux Folles
am fainting away here looool
dead! so right! she really looks like a crazy frog lol
Sutton Foster in that beautifully detailed Michael Kors is BDOTW worthy, imo. Olive is not an easy color. And her accessories are spot-on. She looks marvelous.
I agree, she’s worked that color wonderfully well.
Brooke Shields’s dress is so unflattering on the hips…
Yes, she looks a little like the Statue of Liberty
Ellen Barkin doesn’t age, I swear.
Except for the dress which is matronly.
I definitely see why you say that. She has a presence for me though, matronly dress or not. She’s no Helen Mirren, though!
i wanna say bad things about the dress but i can’t
it’s a design so outdated and boring but i can’t find a single fault with how it looks on her
Sooooooo underwhelming.
Ellen Barkin and Lily Rabe are my favorites from this bunch. They both look beautiful. The rest are mostly a disappointment.
Christie Brinkley looks SO terrible. Like someone from one of those “real housewives” reality shows that thinks they know something about fashion. She looks like she thinks she looks great, which makes me embarrassed for her.
bingo…that is exactly what she looks like. One of the Real Housewives of Orange County
Ellen Barkin is the standout here. I know she always goes with the same L’wren Scott and same cut, but she knows what flatters her so she sticks with it. And here she looked her most glamorous ever wearing the designer.
