Cate Blanchett graced the red carpet this evening in Australia for the Sydney Film Festival opening night screening of “Hanna.”
The red carpet Queen opted for blush double-breasted suit by her favourite designer Giorgio Armani.
Her Fall 2011 suit was paired with different pants to those presented on the runway.
Whilst I prefer the cut and darker shade of the runway pants, wider pants appear to be Cate’s preferred choice as she’s sported this look on the red carpet before.
Metallic pointy pumps and that graceful regal air which I adore completed her look.

I think this is the first time I don’t really like something Cate is wearing. The colour is almost exactly the same as her skin tone and I don’t think the wide pants or the soes are particularly flattering. Even her hair is a bit off. I was very excited when I saw the tag ‘Cate Blanchett in Giorgio Armani’ but when the picture loaded, I was quite disappointed.

I agree, it’s the first time I really dislike her. The fit of the pants reminds me the pants of Charlot. A big miss, for me.
I think you speak for many of us. I was disappointed. Not sure long jacket and wide pants work for Cate. My instant reaction was “hmm … the pantsuit lady (Hillary Clinton).” Still like her hair.

For me she looks a bit stumpy … and I never thought I would say that about Cate Blanchett!!
I think it needed some heels and a cigarette pant to take it out of Hilary Clinton territory.
SO RIGHT!!! The frumpyness and unfortunate jacket length take her right into Secretary-o-State land. And I hate to say it, but that’s NOT a good thing. Never thought I would see this BDOTY winner look this meh.

Hilary Clinton is exactly who came to mind when I saw this! She just looks very dumpy…not good.

My bug bear are when pants are too long that you can’t see the shoes.

She look shorter!! maybe the picture was taken from above or…is the fit, i don´t know but i prefered her in something more femenine and regal
I like it only from the chest up. Nothing more, it seems that this time she borrowed Mary-Kate’s sense of style with the oversized clothes.

Not a good look at all. I hate the pants, specifically the length and I hate the shoes. So NOT the way to do the androgynous pantsuit look
to be honest, i think this might be the worst i’ve ever seen her look.
This does something strange to her proportions – too long torso, boxy cut, too long pants, unfortunate colour? Not sure exactly which is is (or maybe all!) but something just isn’t quite right about this look!
I know that he funds her theatre in Australia so she in turns wears his clothes from time to time but if it were me I’d look for a different sponsor especially if he made me wear this outfit.
I think I could have gotten on board with this look if she had chosen better shoes. These ones are awful!
Not the Cate Blanchett I know and love. I love a suit, but if you’re going to rock a suit, the fit must be perfect. She just doesn’t look like the chic Cate Blanchett we’re used to seeing.

This cut is way too mature for her, and I hate the proportions. She has such an innately regal, graceful air that she can carry off ridiculous clothing superbly, an ability totally wasted on this boring, conservative suit.

Its incredible that this bad suit kinda works because of her regal poise. I love thee Blanchett but the suit is a no-go. The colour is fine though
