Michelle Obama In Reed Krakoff – Pritzker Architecture Prize Ceremony

Michelle Obama continues to give awe inspiring looks no matter what the occasion may be.

At the Pritzker Architecture Prize Ceremony at Andrew Mellon Auditorium in Washington, DC yesterday she looked beautiful wearing a Reed Krakoff Spring 2011 halter dress.

From the runway I wouldn’t have picked this for Michelle, but a few adjustments like replacing the low slung belt to sit on the empire waist and we have a FLOTUS worthy look.

The cobalt jersey gown was paired with some champagne coloured heels.

I love her constant rotation of designers. She can never be accused of being boring.

Wow. She continues to amaze. And it perfectly accentuates her toned shoulders/arms. She’s near perfect with long gowns!

I think this is that rarest woman in the spotlight who actually dresses herself. She has no allegiance to a style, brand, magazine editor, contract, overpowering stylist, trend, or critics. I know she has help, people behind the scenes that say look at this, this would look great on you, what about this designer? But she wears what she wants to wear (sometimes I am not in approval – the belts?) but I find it so refreshing to see true personal style. I agree FC, we can never say she is boring us, this 45 year old lawyer and mother of two is slowly but surely solidifying herself has a fashion icon as much as any other icon can lay claim to that title. I think less because how good she looks in clothes or her patronising big fashion houses, but a woman who uses fashion as a tool so intelligently and with such grace and ease. The architecture of this dress for the occasion – ONLY American and British designers for the UK trip with such beautiful clothes. True sartorial brilliance. 6 more years PLEASE!!!

Well said, I completely agree! She doesn’t always get it right, but she’s always an individual. When she does get it right, she’s perfection.

The belt, the belt, THE BELT!
    The belt made this look.

      that’s it.
Mde. Obama is blessed with very long legs…..It’s very wise to place the belt there.
      Mr. Obama is handsome also!

Totally agree about the fact that she’s not boring… she’s totally unpredictable… I love the color of the dress and the position of the belt. Great choice.

I have no idea how I am going to choose between the First Lady of the US and the first lady of Gucci Premiere this week for BDOTW. Absolutely no idea.

    Beautiful and far from boring.

the elegance remains in the simplicity of that gorgeous gown. tom ford one day, reed krakoff the next. whoever’s styling her these days has certainly upped the ante from last year.

Stunning. It’s an unexpected choice, but it flatters her beautifully and is consistent with her personal style. She looks amazing in halternecks and cut-away shoulders. Love.

The First Lady looks stunning!! That model, on the other hand, needs a cheeseburger. Please, somebody, FEED HER!
