Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: May 2011

Cannes Film Festival ended on Sunday after 12 whole days (and nights) of stunning gowns.

We had several hits, a few misses and an introduction to ones-to-watch on the future (Elizabeth Olsen and Eve Hewson).

Eva Longoria was sadly missed. Eva always steps up her red carpet game during Cannes, so her diva presence was greatly missed.

Above is my Top 10 best dressed of the event with my top 3 being Zoe, Salma and Gwen. Please list share your top 10 in the comments.

2011 Cannes Film Festival Most Worn Designer – Roberto Cavalli
Robert Cavalli was the clear outfitter for Cannes this year. His glamorous, blingtastic, OTT red carpet gowns and mini dresses were showcased by Bar Refaeli, Karolina Kurkova, Tang Wei, Gong Li, Brooke Shields and many more.

Cannes Brand Ambassador – Rosario Dawson for Roberto Cavalli
The actress started off wearing Alberta Ferretti and Dolce & Gabbana during Cannes Film Festival, but once she got a taste for Cavalli she didn’t go back.

Best Dressed Male – Ryan Gosling
Usually the men on the red carpet don’t catch my eye, but Ryan stood out because he didn’t wear obligatory black tuxedos.

His first Ferragamo look may have a PJ vibe, but his cool navy blue shirt and white pants combo were perfect for a photocall with the French Riviera in the background.

Dickie bows added even more character to his blue and maroon custom Ferragmo suits for his premiere and the closing ceremony.

Queen of Cannes 2011 – Fan Bing Bing
Many of us had crowned Fan Bing Bing Queen from the opening ceremony. She then went on to wow us wearing Elie Saab Couture, Atelier Versace, Louis Vuitton and Oscar de la Renta.

The Queen kept her subjects happy by showcasing totally different looks and attending sometimes three events in a day.

Couturier of Cannes Film Festival 2011 – Elie Saab
The king reigned supreme dressing many beautiful actresses during Cannes. Fan Bing Bing was his favourite gal who wore three Elie Saab Couture gowns. Others included French actress Sara Forestier, L’Oréal ambassador Zhang Zi Lin, French actress Elsa Zylberstein and Chinese actress and L’Oréal ambassador Li Bing Bing.

Carrie Underwood also attended the Simon Fuller Hollywood Walk Of Fame Induction Ceremony in LA yesterday.

She opted for a more summery dress for the occasion, as she selected this white Mandalay dress.

This white floral dress with a nude yoke is very much a ‘Carrie’ dress; cute and ultra girlie.

She paired her dress with nude pumps and silver hooped earrings.

Rose Byrne was at The Museum of Modern Art in New York City last night to attend the Volkswagen, MoMA & MoMA PS1 celebratory dinner.

She wore a Peter Pilotto long sleeve dress from the Spring 2011 collection.

I’m so glad to see this brand is being worn more my celebrities, as it doesn’t get enough attention as it deserves.

Rose’s dark blue and light grey pattern silk dress was worn with the runway belt, unlike Sandra Ng Kwan Yu who not only opted to shorten the dress, but also wear a different belt.

The ‘Bridesmaid’ actress accessorized with an aqua ring and a pair of Brian Atwood ‘Betsy’ sandals which are the most delightful finishing touch.

Kirsten Dunst was spotted at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival closing ceremony wearing vintage Valentino black pumps.

Your response from Kirsten’s last post overwhelming agreed that she picked the wrong heels.

Kirsten’s dress already had enough going; her heels should have been minimal and/or metallic.

Shoes Kirsten Should Have Worn:

Jimmy Choo’s Lotus slingback sandals are perfection and they are my favorite choice. The Swarovski crystal appliqué compliments her dress and her jewels.

The metallic silver Jimmy Choo India sandals are the safest choice for Kirsten. They’re classic and simple. Blake Lively understands when a simple shoe is need; she paired a very similar Louboutin heel with her glamourous Chanel dress at the MET Gala.

Manolo Blahnik’s Hangisi satin pumps are so decadent. These dark grey heels feature a crystal buckle and contrast beautifully with her outfit.

If Kirsten wanted to stay with a pump, these Brian Atwood Debra slingbacks are a much better option. Emma Roberts paired Atwood metallic pumps with her Chanel dress which kept her look young and fresh.

At first I wondered why Jennifer Lopez was at the Simon Fuller Hollywood Walk Of Fame Induction Ceremony yesterday, but then I remembered that he’s her boss on ‘American Idol.’

The singer wore a Zac Posen Fall 2011 dress to the ceremony where she was joined by her husband Marc Anthony, who thankfully didn’t see the location of Mr Fuller’s hand.

Jennifer looks amazing.

She knows how to work a tight-fitted dress without making it look trashy on her curvaceous figure *note to Beyonce*

But on this occasion getting hot just looking at her.

It looks like it was 100 degrees outside and JLo is wearing a long sleeve wool dress?

Again I ask, what is the big hurry to wear Fall 2011 clothes when there are so many unworn Spring 2011 looks still on the racks?

Her look was accessorized with Brian Atwood ‘Donna’ pumps, Stephen Webster and an Etro shell clutch.
