Red Carpet Trend: Sexy Cut-Outs

Cut-out dresses have been a consistent trend on the red carpet for a few months, with some of our favorite celebs showcasing their Pilates toned abs in this very creative and uber sexy way.

Halle Berry, Karolina Kurkova and Selena Gomez have been embracing this trend recently, which appears to be a big hit as temperatures begin to warm up.

Halle was the most recent star to bring this trend to the red carpet.

The eternally sexy actress rocked her Halston dress with an asymmetrical cut-out last night, but many of you commented that the look wasn’t quite age appropriate and her modification of the dress was slightly tacky.

Love it or hate it, this trend was made for a body like Halle’s.

Subtle cut-outs have also been featured on dresses worn by Ginnifer Goodwin, Kerry Washington and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

All of these ladies showcased this trend in different ways in long gowns and short dresses; cut-outs are a great way to show a peak of skin and, when done properly gives off maximum sex appeal without being trashy.

This is a great trend to look hot whilst keeping cool. I’m sure we will continue to see more off this trend over the summer.

It’s always Halle that cheapens up a look… Whatever people think is sexy about her, I just don’t get it. To me she ALWAYS looks tacky and cheap.

Horrible trend and, like I keep saying, Selena Gomez is dressing way too older for her age. She’s ten to twenty years younger than everyone else pictured :-/ just STOP

Looking at these photos all together only the bottom row gets my approval. The bright colours and more subtle cutouts are so much more sassy and sexy (IMO) than the black dresses that looks slightly trashy. However I quite liked Karolina and Selena’s when presented on their own.
Halle is just too much “working-girl”, when will she learn?! I get it, she’s got a to-die-for-body but she’s been dressing the same way since forever and there are other ways to dress sexy than showing so much of everything. This might have been a great style on a 20-something but not for a woman over 30, 40(!) in Halle’s case. Then it doesn’t matter how hot your body looks it’s still just a tragic mess.

“Muffin top” need not even consider?

I really can’t stand this trend. This is the one 90s trend that I can’t support. Minimalism = good. Cut outs and belly-exposing outfits= bad.

The one exception here is the girl in white. She looks great.

    Halle Berry…no. Bad idea.

I agree, it’s gotta be subtle. Halle went trashy by showing her belly button.

Even today I still can’t get over how amazing Ginnifer Goodwin looked in that dress. I was utterly surprised when it was revealed its by Topshop.

Totally agree, FC is this topshop dress for sale? I want it.

Subtle is the keyword here. Some of these ladies look like they’re on their way to work. In a strip club.

I agree that is why I only like Ginnifer and Rosie’s looks. They give us a hint of skin and that is way sexier.
