Gwen Stefani graced the red carpet again during the 2011 Cannes Film Festival for the “This Must Be The Place” Premiere this evening.
She opted to wear a very chic Armani Privé white silk gown with a black asymmetrical strap and an opening just above the waist.
I love the hair and I also love that her trademark red lippie is back, but the eye make-up is killing me.
It almost prevents me from liking this look because it’s too heavy.
Tri-colour Louboutin’s and a red clutch completed this look.

The eye make-up is tragic.
Heavy smokey eyes gone wrong. What a sad vision.
I HATE her eye makeup SO badly it’s all I can focus on. Not only is it too much,it isn’t applied well. I like the dress but would have preferred it on someone a bit younger.

I agree with you. If it was on a younger thing it would look less boring and more modern and have more of a Claire Danes Effect, which is what Gwen was going for. Thank god she wore a red clutch. The Taylor Momsen eyes would make a baby cry.
What was she thinking, did she look for an inspiration over at Taylor Momsen or what? I dare to say I hate this look.

i like the dress, it’s also great from the back with the black stripe going through a bare back, but i don’t like the split into the 2 bows. somehow an modern, architectural gown tries to go cute. It’s a real bummer for me, as i love the idea of the black stripe going through the skirt.
No no no. I agree that the eyes are a problem but to me the bigger problem is that this dress does NOTHING for her. Not the color, not the fit, not the style. Maybe the eye makeup was trying to distract.

Its not only the eye makeup that is wearing me out, the fitting of the dress from the waist up looks poor
This dress is SO her. The makeup might not be great, but it’s not keeping me from loving it!
This is a cautionary tale on how something as small as eye makeup can destroy a whole look – her overdone eyes have wrecked this, and i actually like the dress….
no comments about the eye make-up. The dress is amazing, but the fitting is just not right, and most importantly, the colour is not working for her.
I don’t why but I thought of Cruella Demon, when I saw her (I don’t know if the name is right because they change the names). The make up is tragic, maybe Zuma did it (LOL, FC), but, also, the fact that she’s not curvy makes me think that she has 2 bras. No, I don’t like it.

I agree about the bras – the way this dress fits gives her such an odd four-boob effect. Fitted and with softer eye makeup, I think I would have loved it.
Yes, it’s a pity because she could look great. The second bra should have been tighter, to avoid that ugly effect.

everything is great about this look except the heavy eye make-up.IT distracts me .
If she wanted to do punk eyes, she should have gone with a paler foundation and nude lips.
Even at the amFAR gala, the eye make-up was bad. I was surprised not many people commented on it.
I know heavy make-up is Gwen’s trademark but it never used to look terrible. It’s like she uses painting brushes to apply it.

Agree that the “bar scuffle” eye is horrid. As a person who likes dramatic makeup, I tend to actually like how she does hers.
The heavy black smokey-eye, however, does really work past your early 30s, And that’s if you’re ageing well. It has the effect of ageing a person horribly, especially if they are fair.
