Janet Jackson In Haider Ackermann – 2011 amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS Gala

Previously, Janet Jackson has failed to pull off Haider Ackermann, but tonight at the 2011 amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS Gala she gets a pass.

The singer’s Haider Ackermann ensemble incorporates the teal and purple colours from the Fall 2011 collection.

I’m glad she didn’t opt for anything too complicated because she’s doesn’t always carry them so well with her petite frame.

Her colour-block look is accented with a blue ribbon around the waist.

Do you think she got is right on this occasion?

Please can I politely as for you to comment without caps. I feels like you are shouting

Wow, this is a sentence I’d never though I’d say, but Janet Jackson looks absolutely amazing! Such a beautiful interpretation of what was shown on the runway.

  6. Lulu May 20, 2011 at 08:36 #

So cool the style!! Love it !!!

while i’m technically not qualified to comment on janet jackson (since i am wholly incapable of ever saying anything bad about her at all LOL), i do think she looks so relaxed and effortlessly glamorous when she wears haider ackermann. she still hasn’t found the looks that look SPECTACULAR on her, but she’s clearly found a designer that gets who she is.

that little flourish of a belt surprises and delights just like the smile that always graces her face.

  8. Lizzie May 20, 2011 at 07:46 #

    I like her confident smile.

  9. DM May 20, 2011 at 02:45 #

LOVE THIS! The skirt and top colors might have looked a bit odd together, but the blue belting brings it all together somehow and makes the color palette AMAZING!

  10. Karen May 19, 2011 at 23:03 #

I think she looks great. I mean I’ve seen many disastrous looks from her so this is a great.

  11. Paulo May 19, 2011 at 21:42 #

She looks amazing! And the hair totally works with this look.

    • KateS May 20, 2011 at 05:56 #

      I agree – it’s all good.

  12. couturecoco May 19, 2011 at 21:32 #

I just love this on her! No need for analysis.

Haider Ackermann is the designer to wear if you are trendy and every celeb fight to wear anything he design…

  14. Andrew Mackinnon May 19, 2011 at 21:01 #

So right! So many celebs get Haider wrong, the only consistent star has to be Tilda Swinton though.
I think the styling of this piece is perfect also… A slightly more relaxed version of the hair than on the models at the show, and the colours compliment her skin tone perfectly!

  15. VuVu May 19, 2011 at 20:57 #

She looks stunning, without trying too hard. This look is working for her.

  16. robbie May 19, 2011 at 20:38 #

she makes it look utterly messy. if this was tilda she would have worked this look.

    • Alina May 20, 2011 at 09:50 #

      I agree – and I’m not a fan of Tilda .

  17. Emi May 19, 2011 at 20:38 #

I think she got it right, but I don’t like the hair…

  18. Christine May 19, 2011 at 20:37 #

Thumbs up for me: great head to toe look plus her nail polish matches the blue ribbon. In fact, the blue ribbon is the best bit of her outfit.

  19. Pati May 19, 2011 at 20:36 #

I like it too! And that smile of hers is just stunning!

  20. laura D May 19, 2011 at 20:31 #

I love how easy and comfortable she looks, and at the same time elegant. This is a fantastic outfit and she wears it well. Don’t love the hair, but don’t hate it.

  21. fromchi-town May 19, 2011 at 20:31 #

I think she looked great. I like it.

  22. Tatiana May 19, 2011 at 20:28 #

it is alright. I don’t like it for this event at all but it is an alright look for another more casual event.

    • Paddy M May 19, 2011 at 20:40 #

Haider Ackermann’s designs are regarded as among the highest of high fashion. They’re perfectly appropriate for an event like this.

I think Janet looks fab here. I remember her previous Ackermann outift, and yes it was a misstep. But this one works very well indeed! Love!

  23. Morgane May 19, 2011 at 20:25 #

    Very chic. Totally appropriate.

  24. mol May 19, 2011 at 20:24 #

I think she looks fresh, cool, collected and sophisticated….so yes, I think she got it right this time!

    • Bego May 19, 2011 at 20:33 #

      I agree completely!

      • mm May 19, 2011 at 21:26 #

Me too! We can actually see here. Usually she is covered up with clothes. the short haircut was the best thing she every did for her look. The blue belt was a great addition.

  25. Lola May 19, 2011 at 20:23 #

I Think this is a great look for her!!! Less is more.

  26. DivaMom May 19, 2011 at 20:23 #

    WHERE are her feet?

    And WHO did her hair?

WHAT statement are we going for…?

    Sooooo many questions, LOL

    • maria May 19, 2011 at 20:37 #

i totally agree. Why is this dress so long? Why is nobody fitting and hemming the outfits anymore. They ruin the entire look with the laziness or quirkyness.
That having said, i love the colours.

    • thehighstreethobo May 19, 2011 at 21:10 #

I love the whole thing, it totally works and Janet is looking mighty fab. I’d jump ahead and say she’s one of the best dressed at this event
