Zoe Saldana In Armani Privé – 2011 Cannes Film Festival “The Tree Of Life” Premiere

Thankfully Zoe Saldana heard my plea and didn’t opt for a minimalistic look for the 2011 Cannes Film Festival Premiere for “The Tree Of Life” this evening.

The beautiful actress looked stunning wearing an Armani Privé long bustier-style gown in white silk organza bodice and a red and white striped cascading skirt.

This is a breath of fresh air from Zoe for me. I love the detail on the hip.

Nicholas Kirkwood python metallic rose suede heels and a stunning gold cuff completed her look.

I haven’t complied my top 10 for Cannes yet, but I already know this look is it.

I’m still in love with this so much! It’s custom, right?

    • Fashion Critic June 2, 2011 at 00:08 #

yes or it just never made the runway….not 100% sure

  2. Dazzle May 18, 2011 at 15:13 #

As much as I am not feeling the candy look of this dress,I LOVE the structure! It is such an interesting cut and I love how it fits her body. I would be very interested to see it in alternate colors.

She looks lovely…not digging those shoes at all tho.

  4. astray heart May 17, 2011 at 08:13 #

    my favorit!!!!
    so stunning

  5. PamG May 17, 2011 at 04:57 #

She looks friggin’ amazing! All the details of the look from the accessories to the appropriatness for the event/locale are all perfect. My favorite so far!

  6. mikeijames May 17, 2011 at 04:56 #

she looks too spectacular for words. gotta love a girl who knows how to take a fashion risk.

  7. Alicat May 17, 2011 at 04:46 #

This is so different to what others wore. It is a sculptural gown and gives her a stunning silhouette. Combined with the red and white stripes it truly shines.

  8. S May 17, 2011 at 04:32 #

Eep no! It reminds me too much of a wrapped Christmas present.

  9. KateS May 17, 2011 at 02:55 #

I do not like – it looks like a glamourous beach towel tied over a glamorous swimsuit. Normally she’s perfection, but this is not to my tastes.

  10. Pablo May 16, 2011 at 22:33 #

To me this is the absolute example of good taste: I would’ve never picked this gown, but she knows how to work a redcarpet like very few others! Bravo Zoe! Nonstop Cannes!

    • Fashion Critic May 16, 2011 at 22:38 #

“I would’ve never picked this gown”

Me neither, but it’s beyond fabulous.

  11. Tahj May 16, 2011 at 22:29 #

LOVE it. I said I want to her to keep up the minimalist thing, but you know what? This is Cannes AND armani prive is the next best thing. I love armani prive’s gowns. This is such a cool design.

  12. nora May 16, 2011 at 22:17 #

i should say, this gown makes me to remember the beef-dress from GAGA……

  13. Joy May 16, 2011 at 22:09 #

WOW! Thank God the audacious, couture-loving Zoe is back. She looks absolutely stunning.

  14. justme May 16, 2011 at 21:59 #

Nice gown, bad shoes, me not impressed.

  15. robbie May 16, 2011 at 21:50 #

im in love, everything is perfect.

  16. noo May 16, 2011 at 21:47 #

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW 😀 this is my favorite look at cannes so far! plus, i hate white shoes but she’s rocking them 😀 : D

  17. Pati May 16, 2011 at 21:26 #

Love the gown, hate the shoes..

  18. ayishaa May 16, 2011 at 21:17 #

This is a combination of drama, attitude and great style all in one.

  19. Elaine May 16, 2011 at 21:14 #

Wow stunning! Really refreshing, one of my favourites of Cannes so far for sure

  20. Fanny May 16, 2011 at 21:04 #

I love those shoes with this dress!
I read that naomi Campbell is coming to Cannes today…. can’t wait!!!

  21. shubby doo May 16, 2011 at 20:53 #

    Love it.

  22. Talita May 16, 2011 at 20:46 #

Love it. Zoe knows how to choose a great dress. This is so Cannes…

  23. Yaas May 16, 2011 at 20:35 #

I really like this look. I am so happy she didn’t overdo it with jewelry, make-up or hair

  24. elena May 16, 2011 at 20:33 #

    L-O-V-E it!!!!!!!!

  25. asherlev1 May 16, 2011 at 20:21 #

I will always love everything she wears.

    God, she's perfect.

  26. Emi May 16, 2011 at 20:14 #

I like the dress but not the shoes, maybe in red they would have been better. Plus, she looks like she’s just jumped out of the bed because she looks very tired.

  27. henrique May 16, 2011 at 20:10 #

    Amazing. Love the attitude

  28. anu May 16, 2011 at 20:08 #

    loveeeee it! 🙂

  29. Nikki May 16, 2011 at 20:08 #

Somehow it reminds me of the American flag, minus the blue and the stars.

  30. Taylor May 16, 2011 at 20:04 #

I can see why she’ll be on your top 10. She is working this look.

  31. mol May 16, 2011 at 20:04 #

Perfect for Cannes, captures the sensibility of the place – a fun in the sun kind of place – and yet still stays with the drama of the event. This is probably gonna be my favorite dress as I can’t find anything to criticize at all…..yay Zoe!

  32. Luiza May 16, 2011 at 19:55 #

I am in love with it! Diane Kruger and Zoe are my main inspirations, always!

  33. Lee Ann May 16, 2011 at 19:53 #

Wow as someone who wore almost exclusively Armani for several years but got tired of it’s saminess and gone off the brand I really could not tell that it was Armani-at first glance- having not been to a Prive show for a few seasons can you tell me is this Black Label or Prive? I’m guessing the later. In any case it is a stunning dress and so far my favourite of Cannes

    • Lee Ann May 16, 2011 at 20:31 #

Am blind as bat- see that you described it as Prive! Apologies

      • Fashion Critic May 16, 2011 at 20:39 #

Sorry it did say Giorgio Armani. My brain said Prive, but my fingers typed Giorgio Armani.

        I need a vacay after Cannes 🙂

  34. Nicole May 16, 2011 at 19:53 #

loooove lovee love she looks amazing.

  35. Tatiana May 16, 2011 at 19:51 #

LOVE LOVE LOVE. Perfect for her. It reminds me of peppermint!

  36. Luis May 16, 2011 at 19:50 #

I’m not in love with the colours and the shoes, but she looked good.

  37. Voguette May 16, 2011 at 19:46 #

    love it

  38. Matt R May 16, 2011 at 19:45 #

It’s really sad that as soon as I saw this photo, I could tell by the bodice that it was Armani. It’s very reminiscent of the Spring 2010 Couture collection. Zoe looks beautiful though, as the colors work well against her skin tone. I love it.

And I just saw Li Bing Bing and it appears she is wearing Elie Saab Spring 2011 Couture. Thank You FC for all the coverage and the hard work you put into it!!

    • Fashion Critic May 16, 2011 at 19:47 #

why is it sad? that means you are on as much as me 😉

      • Matt R May 16, 2011 at 20:00 #

It’s sad because I didn’t have to check to know; the top looks like the ones on the gowns worn by Jennifer Lopez, Amanda Seyfried and Naomi Watts from the same collection. Although I do sometimes find myself wasting time on picking out dream choices…Haha!!!

        Thanks again FC. Amazing work.

        • Fashion Critic May 16, 2011 at 20:09 #

Ahh yes. Now I know what you mean as it is a signature bodice style for Armani.

          You are very welcome x

  39. Iris May 16, 2011 at 19:44 #

yes! this is drama combined with innate good taste plus super-awareness of what looks good on herself.

  40. Alina May 16, 2011 at 19:43 #

I like this. Maybe her hair should have been pulled back.

  41. Moxie May 16, 2011 at 19:43 #

The white shoes go nicely. I like it, but she kinda looks like a candy cane.

    • Gaber May 16, 2011 at 20:06 #

That was my first thought also!
Good thing I have a sweet tooth! 😉

    • Molly May 17, 2011 at 02:29 #

Yep – I’m sure there will be a “Cannes-dy Cane” caption on her photo somewhere…

    • bb May 17, 2011 at 06:26 #

That’s my first thought as well!!

But she looks lovely and of course ‘sweet’
