Fan Bing Bing In Oscar de la Renta – 2011 Cannes Film Festival “The Tree Of Life” Premiere

Fan Bing Bing – the hardest working L’Oreal girl – attended the “The Tree Of Life” Premiere during the 2011 Cannes Film Festival this evening.

The Asian actress received her first Oscar today.

Her Oscar de la Renta Spring 2011 lime gown with an origami folded square neck and full gathered skirt is glamorous, but it’s a more subtle understated type of glamour compared to her previous looks.

Fan went easy on the jewelery on this occasion opting for Cartier jewels sans necklace.

A black Roger Vivier clutch, a ‘Heidi braid’ and a bold orange lip colour completed her look.

Fan is so beautiful, and I like her dress.

  2. Fernando May 17, 2011 at 22:15 #

i think the problem here is the styling, with a loose hair, curled, with a necklace it would have looked better, much more expensive, he dress looks cheap in compare with the other ones she has been rocking.

  3. lynnpetersen May 17, 2011 at 18:09 #

her other looks are fine, this one..hmm. really messy.

  4. shuz4ever May 17, 2011 at 16:23 #

Yikes…she just sucked the life out of that De La Renta. Don’t like the ‘heidi’ hair she’s sporting nor that lipcolour.

  5. Jess May 17, 2011 at 11:50 #

Aww I love it! The dress has a dirndl vibe and the Heidi hair matches this wonderfully. The colours of her dress and lip are gorgeous on her too. A different clutch would have been nicer though

  6. Mia Spring May 17, 2011 at 10:38 #

Yellowish green is too dangerous for her.
Although I like her and this look is overall ok to me, I don’t like she did handle this dress so easy as those previous ones.

  7. Leo May 17, 2011 at 09:00 #

she looks fluorescent … Not sure I like this ending..

  8. Lur May 17, 2011 at 08:56 #

Ehhhh…I was in love with fan until I saw this look.
Dislike the hair. The gown also looks much better on runway.
Bring us something exciting, Fan,in a good way!!
    btw,this is a fashion site.No fans or anti-fans,please.

  9. astray heart May 17, 2011 at 08:07 #

apparently, the fans of FAN has already hacked this website as the links are given in her fansite so that all her fans, which is not a small number have come here to vote.
so u guys r just gonna face the fact that FAN is and will be NO.1 in all the polls.
    BTW she looks messy

    • Fashion Critic May 17, 2011 at 08:10 #

      Thanks for letting me know

    • nunoliuliu May 17, 2011 at 13:39 #

actually, her anti-fans are much more than her fans here in China………TBH, this dress is really mess, though, and I’m in the middle way and love the volcanic red ES one.

      • beachday May 17, 2011 at 17:09 #

I did see in her fansite posts some fans advocate the other members not to ruin/bias the vote for best dress, especially this is a fashion blog thus the vote should go for the best dress instead of favorite person. I really appreciate their attitudes and respects.

I also not that into this dress especially the look on the shoulder, thus my vote didn’t go for anyone. But Fan today is in a wonderful status (seems the hardworking girl finally have a good rest!) and I love the fresher look and the interesting hairstyle inspired (?) by Tymoshenko.

    • Moxie May 17, 2011 at 16:29 #

Often she deserves to win the polls as she looks phenomenal — but not this time. This is a mess. Love the color, but that’s about it.

  10. bella May 17, 2011 at 06:48 #

Even though i like Fan ,But this dress“
i’m so sad , Perhaps she is thought that the green represents the new life, is very appropriate with the movie subject

  11. Alina May 17, 2011 at 04:53 #

She looks beautiful and poised as always.

  12. S May 17, 2011 at 04:46 #

Somehow I don’t like this on Fan. The colour, hair and makeup all don’t go together and I feel that it’s unflattering.

  13. nunoliuliu May 17, 2011 at 04:37 #

Zero size models sells better for me…she said that she was size 8 and managed the crane gown when losing 10 pounds………anyway, a fresh end of this Cannes

  14. Alicat May 17, 2011 at 04:28 #

Except for the colour, this could be an 80s Prom dress. The bodice is very ill-fitting and gives her bustline a droopy, flattened look. (Same effect on the model only worse.) She has looked stunning all week, however.

  15. KateS May 17, 2011 at 02:47 #

I think she’s probably not really an Oscar girl, and I passionately hate braids, but I do like the colour on her and her constant inventiveness. She’s certainly working hard at Cannes.

  16. lwren May 17, 2011 at 02:13 #

She didn’t fit on an American look, she is an European style girl!

  17. Susana Yamaguchi May 17, 2011 at 02:06 #

I just loved her make up and hair!

  18. Zoe May 17, 2011 at 02:02 #

    She looks adorable.

  19. kirsty May 17, 2011 at 01:48 #

i wish the sleeves were bigger like they are on the model but i do think her watch is amazing!

  20. Clover May 17, 2011 at 00:46 #

“The Asian actress received her first Oscar today”… that made me stop and reread the first few lines several times thinking… ‘This isn’t the Academy Awards FC!’
Ha! I finally got it though. That really made me smile!

    • Fashion Critic May 17, 2011 at 01:09 #

      Lol…you are cute x

  21. Incroyable May 17, 2011 at 00:12 #

The dress looks nice on the model. Looks a mess on her in my opinion, a cheap deflated mess.

  22. Luis May 17, 2011 at 00:12 #

i love fan but this look looks a little like little house on the prairie goes glam.

  23. eva May 16, 2011 at 22:43 #

I appreciate for her constant effort~~~ fresh look!

  24. Megan May 16, 2011 at 22:25 #

    Love love love!!!

  25. Zarin May 16, 2011 at 22:10 #

I really love the colour on her but I’m not a fan of the dress. I keep wanting to run at it with an iron.

  26. June May 16, 2011 at 22:04 #

  27. Luiza May 16, 2011 at 21:57 #

I like it, it is more subtle. I am a fan of big gowns but I don’t like it so much when there’s a lot of make up and accessories. I think she looks fresh!

  28. robbie May 16, 2011 at 21:47 #

even though the dress is oscar de la renta it looks like a really bad prom dress. needs a good ironing. it looks great on the model just not on fan.

  29. Pati May 16, 2011 at 21:45 #

I actually think this is extremely ugly. I do not like the dress, nor her hairstyle nor clutch… The only thing I like about this look is the colour of the dress… I give her kudos for trying something new, but this look does not work for me at all…

    • sonia May 16, 2011 at 22:33 #

      ugly is the word girl!
it wouldn’t work for anyone with good taste!!!
      what a mess XD

    • Incroyable May 17, 2011 at 00:11 #

      I AGREE!

  30. CAROL May 16, 2011 at 21:45 #

She is beautiful. but not as stunning as her previous look…

  31. Moxie May 16, 2011 at 21:41 #

Love the color, but the hair and bright red lippy just don’t go. Not her best look, but she’s still the Queen of Cannes.

  32. alexldl May 16, 2011 at 21:40 #

still, I am speechless. She is just gorges.

  33. Rory May 16, 2011 at 21:38 #

FC or industry stylists/designers – Why do the gowns ALWAYS appear less voluminous on the red carpet than they do on the runway? It bothers me so much! I think the silhouette was ruined compared to the runway version and the look definitely suffers because of it.

    • Fashion Critic May 16, 2011 at 22:02 #

My simply theory is that the gowns don’t have to travel in a car, they are fluffed back stage then sent down the runway.

I think traveling deflates the volume 😀

  34. Dani May 16, 2011 at 21:37 #

the dress, the lips, the hair… perfect! BDOTW if not BDOTY worthy in my opinion. too in love with this look!

  35. Tatiana May 16, 2011 at 21:36 #

Even though Fan is my girl, I am not buying her as an Oscar de la Renta girl like Lea Michelle, Kristen Davis, Eva Mendes, Anna Wintour, Sarah Jessica Parker, Anne Hathaway or Jennifer Lawrence. Fan can wear Oscar de la Renta well, but she isn’t his girl, you know? Louis Vuitton, Valentino and Elie Saab please.

  36. Beny May 16, 2011 at 21:32 #

    She looks messy

    • noo May 16, 2011 at 21:48 #

i wish it were more puffy like the runway version 😀 and it would have helped if her hair wasn’t in this weird braid, i hated the braid thing with her atelier versace gown and i hate it now!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Beny May 16, 2011 at 21:51 #

Ok, she doesn’t look messy, it’s the dress itself.

  37. Catriona May 16, 2011 at 21:30 #

I’m not liking this, it’s too “bad bridesmaid dress” for me.

    • Tatiana May 16, 2011 at 21:40 #

I agree. I wasn’t taken with it on the runway either. Forgive me for saying this, but sometimes Oscar de la Renta’s (and his synonym designer Carolina Herrera) designs are just a bunch of colored taffeta.
