If the L’Oreal memo said ‘Big Couture Gown Night’, everyone got the message.
Li Bing Bing (no relation to Fan) wore a Georges Chakra Spring 2011 Couture gown on the red carpet for the 2011 Cannes Film Festival “The Artist” Premiere this evening.
I always thought this gown had a Princess Leia vibe to it when I saw it presented back in January; so I find it adorable that the Asian actress styled her hair accordingly.
I love that she opted for this big gown, but didn’t pile it high with jewels as the gown sparkles plenty on its own.
She clearly didn’t travel all that way to go unnoticed or upstaged by the other stars on this red carpet, and I admire her for that.

She looks A-fricking-dorable!
I don’t know what is worse the fact that she looks like she is covering a giant loo roll or the bizarre twirly little shop of horrors around her breasts. Sorry not a fan of dresses like these. Too too beauty pageanty.
I completely agree with you, not my favourite dress.
What a shame! It looks a step up from a Project Runway competition… it looks dangerous, and she looks flat chested… awful.
Yes so adorable! Go big or go home!
those breastplates look sharp and dangerous
Maybe it’s a bit too much, but she looks so much I can’t do anything but love it
FC, Chinese names place the surname first. So Li Bing Bing and Fan Bing Bing would both be referred to as Bing Bing, like Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Lopez, for example. Some Chinese stars have opted to reverse this for international audiences – Ziyi Zhang is one; she used to be known as Zhang Ziyi.
Yes, so it is. They both have the same given name Bing Bing. And the Fan and the Li are just family names.
Personally, I like the bodice part….small chested women need to have something draw attention
I love this dress!!
I like it too! Not the most flowy, romantic, but it is attention calling and feminine.
She and her namesake really choose impressive dresses. TNX to them for keeping the glamour in Cannes!
i love the accessories
Badass princess
.. “no relation to Fan”<< & thank you for clearing that, you spared some googling :p
Sorry I thought the whole ‘ballet’ thing was over and done with. Agree it looks like she’s a beauty pageant contestant and too bridal.
Gor.Geous. If Sarah Jessica Parker can get away with pouffy dresses then so can this Li Bing Bing. Yes, the gown may be over the top, but this is the Cannes Film Festival. You want to make an impact on the red carpet. What I think is amazing is that this dress is actually a bit edgy because of the bodice, but Li Bing Bing managed to make it look elegant.
I don’t think it is the most beautiful dress, I don’t like the hair, but somehow everything works really well together. She’s got a magic feeling around her. Nice!
Is this an inspiration of those barbie dresses?
Oops, don’t like this. Too much ice-princess. The bodice is fine, but the giant tule skirt, the blue nail polish, blue ring and especially the body glitter overdose me
Hmmmm…. I’m not a massive fan of this I’m afraid, it’s a bit Bjork wearing a swan to the Oscars….
I agree, the corset is quite ridiculous, I thought it wasn’t that bad till I clicked on the second little photo. Terrible, really. But she’s cute and it doesn’t have a tacky effect on her.
I do like it. A BDOTW Look
Kind of reminds me of my wedding dress from 15 years ago. The bodice is different, but I had the big, tulle skirt. And, I loved it. I wanted a big Cinderella dress for my day.
With all of that being said, in my opinion, it’s too bridal.
To be fair I think although it’s gorgeous, she looks like she made a pit stop on the way to her wedding.
I admit she looks pretty and it’s a wonderful dress, but too bridal to me~
This is such a stunning gown! Combines structure chest with flirty skirt in such a striking fashion! Georges Chakra is a genius. She looks like a glowing princess!
