Cheryl Cole In Stephane Rolland Couture – 2011 Cannes Film Festival “Habemus Papam” Premiere

This is more like it Cheryl Cole.

The X Factor US judge goes a very long way to redeem her fashion violation earlier this week.

She stepped out on the red carpet at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival “Habemus Papam” Premiere tonight looking breath-taking wearing a Stéphane Rolland Spring 2011 Couture dress.

We don’t see enough to Stéphane Rolland on the red carpet, but whenever we do it gives us dramatic results.

Her plunging gown with a draped detail from the hip and a gold accent on the waist is accessorized with a gold clutch and a deep rouge lip colour.

The Barbarella hair was slicked back in favour of a neat ponytail.

On this evidence I hope that her UK stylist travels back to the US with Cheryl.

Since she changed her stylist this winter I haven’t like any of her looks(apart from Sass Bide one). Cheap and tacky as hell

  2. dee May 13, 2011 at 18:23 #

I think the front is too low-cut and I don’t like whatever those gold things are dangling in the front.

  3. LizLemooooon May 13, 2011 at 18:24 #

Good LORD this is fabulous. Whoever styles her for Cannes is just excellent. There’s nothing wrong with this look and I’m impressed that someone as petite as Cheryl is werking this gown so well.

    • Marvel May 13, 2011 at 23:48 #

I feel exactly the same. She looks so tall and statuesque and Ive seen her in person and she’s very petite

  4. Alina May 13, 2011 at 18:24 #

From the neck down she looks beautiful . I hate the makeup.

    • noo May 13, 2011 at 18:57 #

      it’s downright scary :D

      • Laura May 13, 2011 at 19:04 #

Scary? It’s terrifying! It’s so harsh and ageing. She needs to let her beauty shine through, not smother it. I think the dress is elegant, but the front is too low-cut.

        • anu May 13, 2011 at 21:02 #

sameeeee…. i remember reading in my history books when i was in school that Queen Elizabeth 1 used to put so much makeup that she found it difficult to smile. I think Chery Cole has taken her place!

    • Lils May 14, 2011 at 09:46 #

      same here

  5. Mayu May 13, 2011 at 18:29 #

    I absolutely love this look!
    Gorgeous!

  6. shubby doo May 13, 2011 at 18:33 #

just like gwyneth paltrow the front is a tad too low

p.s dark eyes + dark lips = vamp cheryl (not great)

    • Marta_EC May 13, 2011 at 18:47 #

And what is wrong with “vamp Cheryl”?

I think she looks amazing, something different from her. Alex Steinherr was with her, maybe she styled her for Cannes?

  7. justme May 13, 2011 at 18:34 #

My first thought was who in the hell left the Cannes gate open? I mean, Cheryl Cole?
Anyway, the dress needs someone less busty and a lighter make-up. I do applaud the change of hair though.

    • Fashion Critic May 13, 2011 at 18:39 #

lol..she’s a L’Oreal girl, she was there last year too.

      • justme May 13, 2011 at 18:53 #

Awww yeah, that’s true. Shows you how much I follow her work *cough* :D

    • Anna May 13, 2011 at 18:49 #

She’s the UK ambassador for L’Oreal who is sponsoring the festival. She has a contract to fulfill.

  8. fromchi-town May 13, 2011 at 18:37 #

I did not recognize her when I saw this. The front is too low, am somehow not feeling it.

  9. az May 13, 2011 at 18:42 #

the cleavage distracts from everything else

  10. anne May 13, 2011 at 18:55 #

I’m still not feeling it. Sure it’s an improvement but at this points anything would have been an improvement. I think the make-up it’s taking away from the dress and either the cut is too low either she doesn’t wear it right. I’m sure i would have loved it on Diane Kruger or Gwyneth Paltrow to say.

  11. Steph May 13, 2011 at 18:56 #

I absolutely love the dress and the hair but the eye make-up is much too dark!

  12. Lexa May 13, 2011 at 19:07 #

    Cheryl looks great :)
However, I think Amy Mullins looked even better on the first day of Cannes in a black Stephane Rolland dress :)

  13. Giada May 13, 2011 at 19:07 #

I like the cut of the dress but the orange tan, makeup and golden bull balls ruin it in my opinion. Without all that and with the addition of a simple silver cuff necklace it could have been very seventies glamazon-like.

  14. M May 13, 2011 at 19:10 #

she makes me feel like im looking at eva green or rachel evan woods.. not liking it on her

  15. Fashionmeal May 13, 2011 at 19:10 #

Okay seriously? She looks good and all.
But those weird gold..things? If they were ANY lower, they’d look obscene.
    Who else sees this?

    • N. May 13, 2011 at 21:13 #

I do, and I’m glad not to be alone! It looks so awkward.

      • Rebecca May 13, 2011 at 22:57 #

It is a beautiful dress without the strange embellishments. Very odd.

    • pam May 15, 2011 at 04:02 #

Me. The first thought in my head was “why does that dress have a pair of brass balls hanging from it?”

      • Marjo May 16, 2011 at 22:18 #

        Same reflection!!!!

  16. Jennesia May 13, 2011 at 19:13 #

I liked the dark make-up minus the dark lip she should have chosen either the lip or eye like the model did. I hate the hair it looks odd?…idk I think the hair should have come down more on her face. The dress, she is often regarded as being (slightly) tacky, therefore i think she should have made alterations to the neckline, it is cut way to low and lastly the bells/balls? What the hell! I don’t understand those things?

  17. Lee Ann May 13, 2011 at 19:17 #

Why can’t she wear something simple and chic? She comes close but for the gilded kidneys and the rather Night Porter hair and make up. B – must try or rather not try so hard.

    • natalie May 13, 2011 at 22:52 #

      “gilded kidneys”

      OMG! LOL.

  18. maria May 13, 2011 at 19:24 #

i love the dress, but i wish that the golden belt was a bit smaller. Not sure why these things have to be so huge…..

  19. NY May 13, 2011 at 19:27 #

I like it, but i can not help but find those gold balls very inappropriate… if you catch my drift.

  20. Ruby25 May 13, 2011 at 19:55 #

    She looks fab!

  21. Badaboum May 13, 2011 at 20:00 #

She looks great and the make up is perfect in my opinion. If you look at the other pictures the make is not that dark.
    Loooooooooove it!

    • Badaboum May 13, 2011 at 20:01 #

I meant to say: “the make UP is not that dark”. Oops!

  22. Kaylie May 13, 2011 at 20:01 #

The too-dark makeup makes her almost unrecognizable. Not liking it at all.

  23. Pan May 13, 2011 at 20:09 #

The makeup sort of ruin it

  24. Moxie May 13, 2011 at 20:09 #

I like it except for those ridiculous gold balls. They look trashy and cheap. They’re distracting and completely ruin the look for me.

  25. moja31 May 13, 2011 at 20:21 #

aside from what appears to be a pair of giant golden testicles protruding from her stomach, she looks fabulous.

    • 2c May 13, 2011 at 21:00 #

      LOL

    • anu May 14, 2011 at 05:27 #

      LOLLL

  26. Emi May 13, 2011 at 20:22 #

She’s a beautiful woman and her dress is beautiful, most of all from the back, because I hate those golden “things” on the front. I also think that the make up ages her because I believe in the rule “eyes or lips” and I agree she looks a bit like a vampire (but it’s not a very bad thing). I also agree about the fact that this dress needs a “flat” breast, like the model.

  27. BlackSwan May 13, 2011 at 20:23 #

This is vulgar and tasteless. She has 2 brass ovaries hanging under breasts. I am not getting the appeal here.

  28. Emi May 13, 2011 at 20:24 #

And she’s attending the premiere of a Nanni Moretti’s movie, quite strange…

  29. Megan May 13, 2011 at 20:25 #

Just no I don’t think Cheryl will ever do it for me she just looks tacky

    • aiyu May 17, 2011 at 11:07 #

      I agree.

  30. Leo May 13, 2011 at 20:27 #

I don’t get the Cheryl Cole crush. As usual she makes couture looks trashy.

  31. A May 13, 2011 at 20:33 #

Way too much boob for my taste lol. This would work on someone with a smaller chest like Gwyneth Paltrow. On Cheryl it just looks kinda cheap even though it’s a great dress. She should’ve asked for a higher cleavage.

  32. Luiza May 13, 2011 at 20:38 #

Too much cleavage showing.. she’s too busty for this dress! not elegant…

  33. Jen May 13, 2011 at 21:42 #

The golden things on her belt exactly mimic the curves of her .. chest. I actually don’t mind the vampy makeup and I like the hair, but those gold things ruin it for me.

  34. izzy May 13, 2011 at 22:07 #

Make-up is too dark, but I can get over that. If the dress had some other embellishment other than those gold pieces, it’d be lovely. Those things on her waist are just weird….it actually makes me dislike this dress completely.

  35. natalie May 13, 2011 at 22:55 #

I like the dress better on the model. I feel like Cheryl has too much … uh … boobs for it? I also agree with those who said the make-up isn’t doing her any favour. She should have gone for a lighter shade of lipstick. Overall, the model looks far better than she does here.

But it’s an improvement over her usual tacky look.

  36. Sally May 14, 2011 at 00:59 #

This is all too much. Too much makeup, too much skin and too much gold fruit/nuts … what are those rude looking things? It’s not as if the gown is low enough to begin with, it looks like the upper half of the collar is folded under to create a wider ‘V’ … it’s so distracting because her breasts look like they are trying to bridge the gap. Not pretty.

  37. mandy May 14, 2011 at 06:47 #

Say what you want about the make up and the boobs.. she looks friggin amazing.

  38. -N May 14, 2011 at 10:44 #

the gold (whatever those are) are just wrong on so many different levels!!!!! i love Cheryl Cole but this look is a flop :(

  39. Alexandra May 14, 2011 at 12:10 #

“Habemus Papam” premiere… and here goes Cheryl baring ALL of her cleavage ;)

  40. BB May 14, 2011 at 15:04 #

Awful dress! My first thought was why are there two brass balls hanging under her overexposed breasts? Really awful dress!

  41. mochababe73 May 14, 2011 at 17:04 #

I think that this beautiful dress is ruined by what looks like gold testicles.
Cheryl has the body to pull of a minimalist looks, and the testes should have been removed. It detracts from the entire look.

  42. kbs May 14, 2011 at 17:36 #

why has Cheryl got a pair of (large, golden) testicles suspeded from her chest?

  43. Elaine May 14, 2011 at 18:49 #

I really like this – and I’m glad she’s opted for a different look – I think the hair and make up really suit the overall look and styling of this dress

  44. robbie May 14, 2011 at 20:22 #

the dress looks like it has growths coming out of it. but again she makes a nice look turn into a cheap tacky outfit. also why is she at cannes FILM festival?

    • Fashion Critic May 14, 2011 at 20:42 #

      Best she’s worth it :)

      She’s the Uk L’oreal girl.

      Diane for Germany
      Rai for India
Eva & Beyonce for the US

  45. Luh May 14, 2011 at 22:23 #

I’m not loving the dress, but she’s sooo beautiful, and with the hair pulled back i think she looks really classy and a perfect Loreal UK ambassador.

And I love how this has more comments than most others posts,Cheryl always generates controversy

  46. Lucía May 15, 2011 at 15:10 #

This is amazing. I love this look.

  47. Laura May 15, 2011 at 17:31 #

    Ehh…

I like the white dress, but the gold detail looks like a mini statue of her boobs. And the makeup isn’t my fave.
