WOW…Rachel McAdams really made an impact on the red carpet at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival “Midnight In Paris” Premiere tonight.
She wore a sensational Marchesa Fall 2011 gown.
The embroidered red silk organza illusion cap sleeve gown with tulle ruffle skirt is both romantic and dramatic in equal parts.
I love the retro waves we are seeing a lot of during Cannes so far, as stars are giving us old Hollywood glamour.
As much as I love the dress and the hair, I’m not too crazy about the Casadei pumps.
A very light pair of strappy sandals would’ve been preferred.

Her hair looks much better here than earlier. I love the dress and the shoes don’t bother met. I hope that she didn’t have that posture on all the pictures.
This is the best I’ve seen her look in a long, long time. Whooee!
You’re so right FC, the pumps don’t work. Really, why are people so afraid to show their pedicures?!
The dress is gorge, though.
why why why????:D
Maybe she chose these pointy-toed shoes to elongate her leg line?
Aren’t they the same shoes as the model?
I’m not a huge fan of Marchesa but WOW…Rachel totally rock this look. 2 amazing look in one DAY! ahah Beautiful but I have to say I’m with you about the shoes…:/
So beyond gorgeous! The red lace looks amazing, and I don’t mind the pumps, if only they were more nude, they look a little too brown to me.
I am not feeling the dress.
me either…
i never liked it in the presentation and i like it less on rachel! i’m a die hard marchesa fan but just no!
Here here.
Her face & hair are beautiful, but oh how I dislike that dress!
She looks gorgeous and I wanna love it but something is holding me back. Is it the pose? the attitude?
I think maybe a better angle might change my mind but this is, in all fairness, a good look for her
perfection. I am so happy to see this dress on the red carpet, i love it when celebrities take risks like this
I ADORE this collection with all my heart and I wish she’d inject more life into it. She looks like a shy little girl at her first premiere. I think she’s a bit self conscious about the sheer elements of the dress. I wish we had someone a little sassier to werk the hell out of this dress.
She’s pretty and this is the best *she’s* ever looked but…not great.
Who knew this dress would translate to the red carpet this well? I guess Cannes is the best place for a gown like this. It’s gorge. Love the hair with it, but I’m with you on the shoes. Looks out of place with the rest of the look.
I wish the lining were white. The contrast would be amazing. Red on white.
Nice dress when stationary, Hot mess in motion.
i think this dress should be worn by a taller person. I am not feeling it on her and i also thing the hair is too busy for such an elaborate dress. The shoes do not work either.
not feeling this.
Agree completely
I agree
I agree. Maybe on a brunette it would have looked better.
EWWWWWWWWWW!! Do not like that dress at all !
She’s perfect!
On second thoughts…she does look better than I thought but this dress definitely belongs on a taller person. It also seems to scrunch up around my stomach which may mean it wasn’t hemmed in that much.
I mean *her* stomach of course. I WISH I was wearing Marchesa…
She is very flat chest wise… like literally nothing. It would be more flattering on a bustier woman. Not with big boobs but average sized. I actually do not like this at all. The color is quite nice on her but its tacky and heap looking. She looked much better with red hair.
I completely agree!! I have no idea why she would choose a dress that draws so much focus to her lack of breasts.
I agree with the comments above. Something about her in this dress is off. She definitely doesn’t look bad, but she also doesn’t look “right.”
Personally, I don’t particularly like the dress, but I think she is getting about as much out of it as a person could. Why pick this when there are so many gorgeous gowns out there?
I actually gasped when I saw this. I don’t think I’ve ever done that before. I wasn’t expecting this. So beautiful!
I don’t know I don’t think the dress translated well on the red carpet. I mean I love Rachel but this is the first time I’ve preferred a dress the way it was showcased.
WOW (2).. I think she looks sensational!
GORGEOUS. I especially love the train. Stunning. And i do like the shoes with this dress
I was sort of thinking, “oh, it’s okay, i don’t love it” but then i saw the last picture below it of the back and now i’m in love! they dress is beautiful and the shoes don’t bother me much as they are not noticeable (thank goodness they aren’t black!!)
Although, she could sell it a bit better. Think Eva Longoria in Pucci last year!
I confess to you I never expected all this drama from Rachel but now she really wows us! The dress is magnificent.
She looks so beautiful, really but I agree with you, FC, about the shoes. If she wanted pumps she could have worn red pumps, at least.
beautiful and daring choice. but i think it would look even better with her hair up
Love this A LOT and actually not minding the shoes! Fantastic look and drama!!
Brave girl but i don’t think she pulls this off. The gown is gorgeous, anyway! That picture of the back is amazing!
It’s a beautiful dress but I don’t love it.
I would normally hate this, but she does look fantastic. I don’t know. Maybe she adds to it? But she might be my favorite so far. I actually don’t even mind the shoes.
Huh. Maybe i have a bias for Nicole Kidman AND Rachel McAdams.
Like others, I love the picture from the back and while not all the elements are working 100%, there is something so poetic about the look that I keep going back for another peek at it.
This dress is gorge! But looks better on the model than Rachel. She dosen’t understand the dress and dosen’t konw how to display it, It looks wierd when she hold the tail and walked!
mmmm, i agree with you, i don’t think she understands and carries the dress as well as someone else like say Keira Knightley might have.
Wow….gorgeous! That dress is stunning & she looks fab!
The intricacy and detail that went into this dress is amazing and she wore it well. I loved the hair.
While I do love this dress… Rachel is doing absolutely NOTHING for it! Her posture and the way she’s holding that train, just looks like she cant handle the fabulousness of this gown! A dress like this needs a girl with innate style and grace to carry it off.
Good for her for going for such a ‘look at me’ dress on a big night for her, but she doesn’t look entirely comfortable.
She looks great but somehow I don’t find that the dress suits her…
God the UGLIEST dress i ever saw!!!! I’m sorry….:(
She looks AMAZING!! Love the dress and her
.
I love her in this dress with this pose… classic hair, gorgeous dress…
I’ve never thought that Rachel can pull off such a dress. This gown is romantic, but it is bold, Dita bold! I don’t mind the pumps, as I’m still shocked from the fact that she actually wore this dramatic gown!
a marchesa dress is always a winner!
a nude pump at the very least would have worked a hundred times better than what she chose
I WANT this in my life. & i KNOW it will suit me much better ( i got dark hair). lol. I just love how light the train is
Blonde to me can’t carry red off!
reserve that black heads plz.
The stylist was really bad!
