Style Spotlight: Elisa Sednaoui

Elisa Sednaoui is a gorgeous 23 year old model and actress who has been garnering some serious buzz lately.

It’s not surprising when you consider that the stunning beauty snagged campaigns this season for Giorgio Armani and H&M and returned as the face of Chanel Eyewear. Add to this cover spreads in ELLE Italia and this month’s Harper’s Bazaar Mexico and it’s easy to see why she’s well on her way to becoming a household name.

Elisa’s striking features can be attributed to her Italian, French and Egyptian heritage and an interesting fact to note about the model is that shoe maestro Christian Louboutin is her Godfather. Her shoe collection would probably make the majority of us weak with envy.

Describing her style philosophy, Elisa uses words like ‘minimalist,’ ‘comfortable,’ ‘simple’ and ‘less is more.’

She readily admits that she’s a big fan of black and leather but keeps it exciting by playing with textures and mixing it up with brightly coloured dresses and street style looks in neutral palettes. Elisa counts Chanel, Alexander Wang, Giorgio Armani, Rad Hourani and Phi as her favourite labels.

Elisa is definitely part of Karl Lagerfeld’s chic crew – she modelled for his Hogan collection, starred in his short film ‘Remember Now’ and was the DJ at the Chanel x Colette party – so it’s no surprise that she often chooses the iconic French label to wear on the red carpet.

I love how she paired the first black and white dress with T-strap flats and a beaded necklace. She’s is a master at making any look fit her comfortable and simple style but still manage to look effortlessly chic and glamorous.

The two middle looks are all about the standout shoes for me. A pair of peep-toe wedge heels gives her prim white dress an added edge and her killer knee-length sheer boots give her sculpted coat a dash of sexiness.

Elisa wore a look from Chanel’s Spring 2010 collection to the label’s Resort 2011 presentation in Saint Tropez last year and it is one of my absolute favourites on her. The gorgeous ruffled floral mini dress which she paired with pretty lavender hued heels, has extra long train. It’s a beautiful, summery outfit and Elisa looks amazing.

Since Elisa is a budding actress, she has made the rounds during various Film Festivals and provided us with some gorgeous looks.

This Alberta Ferretti stunning tulle and chiffon ballgown just screams movie-star glamour and definitely makes you sit up and take notice. Just visible underneath the sheer layers are a pair of strappy heels, which keep her outfit from looking too sweet. She chose not to add any jewellery or accessories and kept the focus on the drama of the dress.

Wearing a beautiful dress from Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2010 collection, Elisa showcased a different side of her style. Her lady-like look was completed with pointy-toed heels and taking a cue from Louis Vuitton’s runway show, Elisa wore her hair slicked back into a ponytail. It’s a beautiful and sophisticated look for the model.

Elisa’s white dress which she paired with tights and YSL Tributes is more typical of her every day style and I’m a big fan of the fun Chanel belt she added to her outfit.

Elisa’s most prominent wardrobe staple is no doubt the LBD and she’s become a pro at styling them in many different ways.

Her Tommy Hilfiger halter-neck dress flaunts her toned arms and a slim black belt cinches her waist. Once again, Elisa mixes up her look by adding a pair of embellished peep-toe ankle boots.

My second favourite look of Elisa’s is this V-neck dress which she wore whilst attending shows during New York Fashion Week. Paired with strappy heels, Elisa adds some fun to this look by wearing bright pink lipstick – a shade that looks gorgeous on her.

Proving she’s also a style chameleon, Elisa chose this silk long-sleeved LBD and paired it with patent leather ballet flats and a bowler hat. This is definitely her New York It-girl look and she pulls it off to perfection.

Playing with textures is important to keep LBD’s interesting and Elisa’s Alberta Ferretti dress with sheer layering and a velvet bodice does that. Amazing Louboutin’s complete her look.

During NYFW, Elisa caught the attention of street-style snappers in her outfit consisting of pretty neutral tones. She showed off her print and texture mixing skills by pairing tweed shorts, a stripy sweater and a coat with gingham lining together. Shoes are always just as important as the outfit itself to Elisa and for this look; she added a pair of grey peep-toe wedges.

Undoubtedly one of Elisa’s most stunning looks is the Michael Kors gown she wore to the designers’ 30th anniversary celebration in Paris. Proving she can work bright colours just as well as she does black, Elisa opted for a bright pink clutch which really took her outfit to the next level. Colour blocking at its most glamorous.

Elisa is definitely a fan of wearing of dresses so it’s nice to see her rock something different in these final two looks. For night, Elisa chose this Giorgio Armani suit with navy blue trousers and a black blazer with peaked shoulders. T-strap heels and slick hair finish off this polished look.

For day, Elisa chose neutral tones whilst in Paris wearing this gorgeous cream jumpsuit from Chloé and paired it with white ‘High Heel Cage Booties’ from, who else, but her Godfather Christian Louboutin.

gotta say it FC:this is the first style spotlight that’s left me a bit cold. Elisa’s beautiful and she wears beautiful clothes beautifully, but that’s about it. some of the style editors you’ve featured earlier bring far more innovation and individuality into their appearances.

A beautiful looking girl, her ‘less is more’ style isn’t as easy as it looks, she keeps the proportions and fit perfect every time….I love her style, it really suits her classic beauty.

She looks anorexic, with the same long, sad face as the Olsen twins at their worst. Her eyes look sunken. It is tragic what models must endure to display clothing that will never look the same when worn by normal-sized, healthy women. At least she doesn’t have the boyish, androgyne look that so many designers favor.

All that black is not working for me. Everything is just too dark and heavy. But, I love color year ’round.

  15. Tania May 6, 2011 at 00:19 #

she is one helluva gorgeous girl with a hot hot bod…she has a little of olivia palermo n diane kruger about her….

i love the seemingly effortless, understated elegance n sass of her looks…in fact i think she works colour better than she does black…the floral Chanel, the purple Michael Kors and the white/beige Chloe jumpusuit looks are sheer perfection…

oohhhh i think im developing a major major girl crush….
