Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: May 2011

MaxMara has a rich cultural heritage built on innovation and creativity.

In 2011 MaxMara has seen somewhat of resurgence on the red carpet, as the brand is now more popular than ever.

During awards season Sarah Hyland and Jennifer Morrison first gave us a taste on the red carpet in 2011. Since then many other celebrities have followed suit.

UK TV presenter Tess Daly appears to be the brands biggest fan as she has worn two looks from the Spring 2011 collection.

Both had wide legged pants with splits on the sides.

Brooklyn Decker followed Tess by wearing the same jumpsuit.

Your votes showed that you preferred Decker to Daly in this look, as Daly over accessorized her look.

Asian star Chen gave us a monchromatic cool intreptration of her yellow MaxMara Spring 2011 look.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley showed us how this brand has plenty of sex appeal, as did supermodel Elle Macpherson in a simple white suit with thigh-high splits.

Katie Holmes didn’t leave her New York apartment at one stage without her MaxMara classic camel coat after she was spotted front row at their Fall 2011 show in Milan earlier this year.

Thanks to all these celebs, we have all taken more notice of MaxMara.

With an equally strong Fall 2011 collection, I’m sure we will see many more MaxMara red carpets looks in the future.

There are very few things that are certain in life. Victoria Beckham is unlikely to smile, Renée Zellweger will always wear Carolina Herrera and the other was Charlene Wittstock would wear Armani, but that appears to have changed.

Charlene Wittstock, fiancée of Albert Prince of Monaco, wore Akris custom ensemble for events surrounding Monaco’s Grand Prix this weekend.

The Princess-in-waiting first Akris look included a black stone appliqué corseted bustier with black silk chiffon pants and the Akris ‘Alice bag’ which she wore to the Amber lounge.

For the Grand Prix qualifying race the following day, she wore a sand Akris bustier with a matching skirt and tan sandals. This was a very refreshing relaxed look for Charlene.

That evening at the JetSet Party on-board a yacht, Charlene opted for an Akris one-shouldered silk jersey dress sans shoes. She accessorized with a pearl necklace and a matching clutch.

A printed voile day dress and Jimmy Choo sandals was the perfect day look for Charlene as she attended Grand Prix on Sunday.

The finale Akris look was a stunning olive paillette gown which she paired with an Akris ‘Ai’ bag.

Charlene sure does know what looks to wear for each occasion.

Each look was presented with the type of effortless elegance we expect from a Princess.

Zoe Saldana graces the Hong Kong edition of Prestige Magazine, wearing one of the stunning Elie Saab Spring 2011 Couture gowns I had hoped to see during Cannes Film Festival.

The rest of the photoshoot, which was captured by John Russo, sees the actress wearing Burberry Prorsum and Versace.

In her interview she talks about her upcoming movie “Columbiana” which is a movie about an assassin hellbent on avenging the murder if her parents when she was a child, and taking on directing roles.

Here are some extracts.

On why she decided to work on Columbiana: The opportunity to work with [producer/screenwriter] Luc Besson, another filmmaker I completely respect, and who’s known for writing great roles for women. And I was excited about working with an international cast and crew. And even though it’s a typical story of revenge, it’s a story told through the eyes of a woman who was hurt when she was a little girl and who grows up wanting justice for what was done to her. I felt touched by that. Read more…

Supermodel Iman took to the red carpet at the Met Gala earlier this month wearing a gold and bronze sequined Stella McCartney jumpsuit.

The jumpsuit features a deep V-neck, padded shoulders, long sleeves and loose fitting pants.

Iman cinched in the waist with a decorative black and gold belt and accessorized with a mini clutch, platform heels and some stunning costume jewelry.

I like the details of this outfit but sadly I think the impact is lost in the fact that her hair, skin tone and the colour of the jumpsuit are all blending into one another. I think if the jumpsuit had been a different colour this would’ve been more impactful.

Gwen Stefani attended “The Tree of Life” 2011 Cannes Film Festival Premiere wearing the black version which she also opted to cinch in at the waist.

The rest of her accessories included platform heels, a gold clutch and matching bracelet.

I really love Gwen’s hair and makeup. I love the deep side part and wavy curls and I think her makeup is youthful and fun. Her punchy pink pout is pretty and perfectly complements the rest of her look so she wins for me.

Kirsten Dunst and Ryan McGinley attended Courtney Love’s performance during day three of Istancool in Turkey this weekend.

Whilst some of you will be rolling your eyes that Dunst is wearing Chanel again, others will be joyful that she didn’t ruin the look with the wrong footwear choice.

The Chanel connection is beyond predictable, but I really love this ethereal Chanel Spring 2011 Couture look on the blonde actress.

This soft feminine look is perfectly complemented with silver Mary-Janes.

You have to admit that the dress appears to be made for her.
