Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: April 2011

Last week Marchesa Co-Founders Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig hosted an intimate evening to showcase their latest bridal and tableware collections at The Apthorp building in New York City.

They were joined by Olivia Munn, Courtney Love, Ann Dexter-Jones, Sanaa Lathan, Mary Alice Stephenson, Natalie Von Bismarck and Arden Wohl.

Pieces from Marchesa’s tabletop collaboration with Lenox were displayed in chic settings throughout the gorgeous private residence, as were gowns from the recently debuted Fall 2011 Bridal collection.

Georgina and Keren were of course in Marchesa. Mary Alice Stephenson opted for a bold green Lanvin dress.

Olivia Munn wore a black Marchesa dress with the same laser cut details we saw on Amy Adams’ Golden Globe Awards gown.

Actress Sanaa Lathan looked very elegant in a nude dress, whilst Courtney Love opted for a head to toe black look which was accented with a bejeweled bib necklace.

Heidi Klum attended the LA Premiere of “Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil” this week.

She opted for a casual look for the premiere of this animated movie, wearing a Tibi clover and white silk blouse with Paige skinny jeans which she rolled up.

I loved her Miu Miu polka dot sandals which perfected her laidback look.

Kylie Minogue became the 3rd celebrity to fall in love with the Gucci ‘Snaffle Bit’ bag today.

The Australian songstress was carrying the gorgeous dark brown Gucci ‘Snaffle Bit’ shoulder bag when she was spotted headed to a costume studio in London.

Singer Florence Welch carried her Gucci ‘Snaffle Bit shoulder bag on a rare sighting back home in Notting Hill, London during March.

This month Sara Carbonero carried the same Gucci shoulder bag while out in Madrid, Spain.

The craftsmanship on the Gucci ‘Snaffle Bit’ bag is second-to-none. The hand-stitched bag has a gold snap-style closure, gold studs, dangling tassels with bamboo beads and leather knots they’re calling ‘monkey fists.’

This bag is available now from Saks.com.

Net-A-Porter.com has a small green python version. You can check out the 4 versions of this bag at Gucci.com.

Jennifer Hudson was spotted at ITV Studio’s for her guest performance on The Alan Titchmarsh Show. She wore Christian Louboutin 4A python-suede platform booties. These booties are fabulous, but make her look a bit stumpy. Given the length of Jennifer’s dress a pump or cutout sandal would have elongated her legs.

Shoes Jennifer Should Have Worn

I normally wouldn’t suggest this heel because I think certain Yves Saint Laurent styles (like the Tribtoo) have been been overworn. However with Jennifer’s dress, I think these suede YSLTribute platform sandals would have worked perfectly.

The Alexander McQueen Russet tan pumps would have been a safe and ideal choice. This is a beautiful pump and a go-to staple for spring.

Camilla Skovgaard’s cutout sandal is a fun & fabulous taupe heel. They feature buckles, studs and tubular straps. They’re also one of Skovgaard’s most popular designs from the spring collection and such a show-stopper.

The metallic Jimmy Choo Cosmic platform pumps are my favorite alternative shoes for Jennifer. The patent finish is unique and this heel is overall a perfect match!

Which shoes would you pick for Jennifer?

When Emma Stone and Nicki Minaj start to look a bit… similar—attention must be paid.

We’re not speaking of the platinum manes and big baby blues—it’s the electric pink hue slathered across the lips of the comedic actress and risqué rapper, as they were recently spotted rocking a look remarkably reminiscent of what we scoped on the Spring 2011 catwalks. (Who knew they even paid attention to the collections?!)

Variations of ‘pop art pink’ pouts popped up on both sides of the Atlantic; a matte fluorescent fuchsia at Diane Von Furstenberg in New York, and scintillant Schipparelli pink at Jil Sander and Fendi in Milan.

While the red carpet versions are a bit more muted and slightly shinier, the shock value remains the same.

Mimic Minaj’s candy-coated kisser with Countessa Flourescent Opaque Lipstick, available at SpaceNK.com for $16.

Miriam Yeung wore another Couture look at the2011 Hong Kong Film Awards.

Her second look was a stunning Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2011 Couture gown.

The multi-coloured gown with a tired skirt was worn with a gorgeous diamond necklace.

We’ve had a 100% success rate with the Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2011 Couture collection on the red carpet.

Nicole Kidman and Rihanna have both worn looks from this collection beautifully.

I think both Miriam’s looks were outstanding.

So which look would you like to see up for BDOTW?

Stéphane Rolland Couture or Jean Paul Gaultier Couture?
