Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: April 2011

French pop singer Shy’m attended the NRJ Awards in Cannes back in January, looking stunning in this black architectural Basil Soda gown.

She let the gown do most of the talking with the rest of the focus being on her towering hairdo.

Some bracelets or a cocktail ring would have been a welcome addition, but since she looks so glamorous I’m willing to let that part go.

Shy’m must know how amazing she looks since she is seriously working it on the red carpet. It’s hard to find fault with this.

Michelle Rodriguez surprised us all by stepping out in the same dress for her “Battle: Los Angeles” LA Premiere

Usually favouring a more casual look on the red carpet, this was a huge step up for the actress, but it certainly wasn’t perfect.

Her necklace is too fussy for a dress with an asymmetrical neckline. Even though her hair looks gorgeous, I would have loved to see it pulled back to really let her beauty (and the gown) shine.

Michelle gets points for stepping out of her comfort zone and trying something new but the details – including a basic black clutch – are just all wrong.

Shy’m on the other hand gets it right by directing most of the attention to the dress and her hair. She owns the look and knows it.

Shy’m wins for me.

Katy Perry and her husband Russell Brand were inseparable tonight at the “Arthur” London Premiere which was held at the Cineworld 02 Arena.

She dazzled in a very predictable Katy Perry dress – nude, figure-hugging and dazzling with embellishments.

Her Philip Armstrong Fall 2011 asymmetrical nude gown was teamed with matching Brian Atwood pumps – another favourite of Katy’s.

I’m really glad she let the dress do all the talking. Sometimes I find her antics a tad distracting to concentrate on what she’s wearing.

Whilst this gown might not be to everyone’s tastes, I think she pull this look perfectly.

You may remember Dannii Minogue wore London-based designer Philip Armstrong on Week 5 of the X Factor.

The “Arthur” London Premiere took place tonight at the Cineworld 02 Arena.

As you know I’m a sucker for animal print and Dame Helen Mirren, so I’m totally in love with her look.

The Grand Dame wore a Dolce & Gabbana animal print strapless maxi dress which was perfect for a sunny day in the capital.

Her biker leather jacket which also has an animal print lining was a fun addition to her look.

Without a hint of try hard, Helen oozes sophistication no matter what she wears.

A black clutch, a safety pin necklace and diamond earrings completed her look.

This is definitely a BDOTW contender.
