Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Alexa Chung attended Mulberry’s star-studded VIP BBQ and Pool Party at this year’s Coachella Festival wearing an embellished 3.1 Phillip Lim silk dress with a black leather paillette panel.

The TV presenter relaxed poolside, pairing the dress with a gold necklace, Illesteva cat eye tortoiseshell sunglasses and 3.1 Phillip Lim two-tone black and tan sandals.

She completed her look with a hint of lipstick and blue nail polish.

The dress is definitely an interesting choice for a festival known to bring out more bohemian style choices (see Vanessa Hudgens and Isabel Lucas), so I appreciate Alexa’s different approach. She looks lovely but I don’t think that it works for a festival.

A few days later, fellow Brit Keira Knightley was photographed leaving the Comedy Theatre after her performance in ‘The Children’s Hour’ wearing the same dress.

Keira’s version has nude leather paillette panel which she paired with a added a dark grey blazer with a black collar. She also matched her brown leather Miu Miu bag to her brogues.

I love that Keira paired the dress with brown accessories and didn’t stick to basic black. The combination is unexpected but she definitely manages to pull it off.

I’m voting for Keira on this one. Even though Alexa looks great, I think the dress was the wrong choice for a pool party. I like that Keira chose contrasting accessories and think she pulls off that cool London girl look perfectly.

You can buy Keira’s version of this 3.1 Phillip Lim dress from Net-A-Porter US and Net-A-Porter International.

Jessica Alba joined Maria Menounos at Shay Todd to help the TV presenter celebrate the launch of her new book, “The Every Girl’s Guide to Life” in LA this weekend.

Jessica has opted to conceal her bump during her pregnancy and her L.A.M.B. Fall 2011 dress does just that.

The flowing black and white dress was paired with a Burberry leather vest.

I love how this vest gives an edge to her look.

A beautiful Deco-inspired Paige Novick antique gold necklace and a Christian Dior Delices Gaufre flap shoulder bag completed her look.

Fan Bing Bing was also present for the opening night of the First Beijing International Film Festival.

She took a surprisingly sombre turn on the red carpet, donning this long-sleeved black dress from Tadashi Shoji’s Fall 2011 collection.

The actress wore her hair slicked back into a high ponytail and kept her makeup light, save for a slick of winged black eyeliner.

She carried a mini gold clutch and added a pair of patent leather platform heels.

Unfortunately I don’t think this is such a good look for Fan.

The dress definitely needed some exciting accessories to bring it to life.

Whilst she’s wearing a gold cuff and a square cocktail ring, I wish she would have chosen an amazing statement necklace instead – like the way the dress was presented on the runway.

This may have changed this look completely.

Some of you guys asked her to tone things down, but I think she took it a step too far.

Beyonce Knowles has been in Paris since last week taking in the attractions, but the singer was also in town to work.

She was spotted on the balcony of The Ritz Hotel posing for an upcoming issue of Harper’s Bazaar.

The singer wore a Gucci Fall 2011 gown whilst giving her best diva pose for cameras.

The gorgeous silk chiffon floor-length halter gown features a bodice decorated with red peonies appliqués.

Zoe Saldana was in good spirits as she walked the red carpet at the 54th San Francisco International Film Awards which was held at the W San Francisco on Saturday.

The actress is the first person to wear a look from the Salvatore Ferragamo Fall 2011 collection.

Her strapless dress with black beading detail wasn’t presented on the runway, but her dress resembles a top which was featured.

In true Zoe style, the actress looks absolutely flawless.

A punchy heel wasn’t needed as she let the dress do all the talking.

Sweeping her hair back the actress allowed us to see her stunning diamond earrings.

She truly evoked the classic elegance of Ferragamo in a cute and sexy way.

Zhang Ziyi took to the red carpet yesterday with Jackie Chan to show her support for the First Beijing International Film Festival.

For the opening night of the six-day event, Zhang wore a Christian Dior Spring 2011 gorgeous azure blue gown.

The gown which has been lined from the runway version features an intricate embroidered design at the waist, which trails off into long tassels decorated with brightly coloured flowers.

Zhang went for all-out glamour with her look pairing the dress with some stunning jewels, including a matching necklace and earrings set and a row of diamond bracelets.

Her strappy heels were also adorned with gems, showing off her matching turquoise pedicure. She kept her makeup quite minimal focusing mainly on her eyes and had her hair twisted into a bun.

I love this look on Zhang as I think the colour looks incredible on her.

The dress definitely had a more tropical, beachy feel on the runway, but I think it translated perfectly on Zhang into a more exotic vibe and was a great choice for this type of event.

Definitely a worthy BDOTW contender.
